Hands down the worst Mexican food I think I've ever eaten. We were in town camping, and wanted a good meal. There were a few adults and 2 kids. The waitress was super sweet and brought the kids toys to play with. That was the best part of our experience. First of all. Just be aware. Cash only. Not a big deal. I understand that credit card companies are sucking small business like this dry. No complaints there. Next. NO FREE SODA REFILS. Also, if you want extra chips and salsa (you won't, its basically a bowl of squashed tomatoes passed near an onion and breathed on by someone who drew a jalapeño in art class) they don't offer free chips and salsa refills.
Anyways. On to the food. We were all disappointed by our food, but ill just focus on what I had. The Chile rellano and the cheese enchilads. I had the Chile with green chili and the cheese enchilada with red.
I started with the Chile rellano. Appeared to be breaded in cornmeal or something. No green chili. Served with rice and beans. The rice was rice a roni, that was undercooked and bland. Basic powdered refried beans heated up ish. The taste of the chili was off, but ultimately, edible.
Then, there was the cheese enchiladas. On face value, they looked pretty standard. Corn tortillas in a standard red enchilada sauce. After the lackluster chili rellanos, I was looking forward to these.
One bite. I took one bite and I KNEW. I couldn't eat them. I might as well have ate a spoon full of flour. Absolutely NO taste. You couldn't even taste the cheese! I mean, wow. I was absolutely blown away. These were JUST AWFUL.
So, we asked for our check. $111 later, we went and got a pizza.
You literally could NOT pay me to come back to this place. Saw a taco place next to Safeway. Maybe ill try that next time. -100/10. Would not feed...
Read moreI don't even know where to start. First thing I notice as we come in is cash only. Not a big deal, usually that means it's going to be great food. Not the case here. Chips and salsa are free.. for the first round? The 4 of us got a small bowl of salsa and a serving of chips. They're store bought chips that are stale and the salsa is pace picante hot. If you want more it's 4 bucks. Everyone got something different to try the menu out. None of it was on par with taco bell. Stale taco shells, stale tortillas, and the rice was rubbery. I've never been so disappointed with something that had a Google review of over 4 stars. You can drive up the street and spend $50 in Safeway on microwave Mexican to feed 4 and it'll beat this place. I don't know how it has won the awards that are on the wall, they must be participation awards. If you've ever eaten real Mexican food, this place will not make the cut, I'd seriously drive an hour to the nearest taco Bell before I'd eat here. To top it off, the staff was rude. We asked for queso on the enchilada and they said, "Yeah if you buy the queso appetizer." The queso appetizer is $5. I hate to leave such a bad review, but it's 100% accurate. I would recommend that you steer clear of this place, it isn't worth your hard...
Read moreTo start; I'm glad that they do not claim to be a Mexican restaurant because as someone who is very familiar with authentic Mexican food this would not cut it. After we were eventually seated, they brought out store bought chips with their salsa, sadly that set the tone for my expectations. After sitting there for 5 minutes we were handed menus. They were fairly busy, but menus are normally handed to customers when they are seated. Apparently Chile rellenos are a seasonal dish here which is strange considering I just bought chiles a few weeks ago and made some, but them not having a menu item because it's seasonal is not good. My buddy and I both ordered sopapillas and they were...fine, not great, but fine. Their prices are pretty good for what you receive, at least as far as being in Colorado is concerned. The service is slow, so don't come here if you are in a rush. Overall our experience here was nothing to write home about and if I am ever back in Leadville I will choose another establishment. Oh, and make sure to bring cash (or check) as they do not...
