Bare with me on this review, I generally am pretty tolerant and have fairly low standards when it comes to motels, and and do not take giving a negative review lightly. But if you care for your health and safety, DO NOT STAY HERE!||||The lady at the desk was very nice, but not entirely available because he had a 2-month old to care for in the adjacent room. She asked a worker if Rm 133 had been cleaned. He confirmed it had but she insisted he look again to make sure. The reason I included this information will become clear in just a bit. I should have walked out as soon as I entered the building due to the strong cigarette smell and torn upholstery on the lobby sofa that was not well hidden by the blanket placed there. But the Cornhuskers had just won their opening game and the motels I'd normally stay at were not only priced double, but were also full.||||I was placed in Rm 135. I noted right away the very old TV in the room. I turned it on and you could see the dots like the ones on TVs from the 1970's. Within a minute, something blew inside and it quite, then a smell of smoke from the TV. Something fried.||||I grabbed my bags and went to the front desk. The lady said it happens a lot. I told her it hadn't happened once in 5 decades of staying in motels. So she gave me Rm 133, the one the worker said was cleaned. It wasn't. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed since at least before the previous occupant. There was moisture damage on the walls below the window and below the sink. The carpet strip on the wall was coming off in places, and carpet was torn, as was the lamp shade. There were dark streaks on the blinds that may have been dried blood, the oversized waste pail had no liner and was grossly dirty. The cord for the TV was too short, so the filthy friidge was position where the door opened from the side next to the wall, making it hard to get things in and out of it. The carpet was damp near the window, and made my socks wet. There was a moldy odor as well. But it wasn't just the horrible room that made me write this review, it was the occupants.||||During the night, as I was sleeping on my bed without a fitted bottom sheet...or support...I heard someone yelling repeatedly and very loudly. I figured it was someone wacked out on drugs outside. It didn't stop, however, and I got up after 10 minutes or so and looked out the window but saw nothing. I eventually got up again and opened the hall door and realized it was someone INSIDE the motel. Thinking someone was in trouble, i threw on some pants and ran down the hall. Two guests on the same room were doing heroine and one OD'd. The other was performing CPR and yelling for him not to die after all they'd been through together. Another guess had 911 on the phone and I started helping the first man and checking vitals and informing the 911 operator. The paramedics arrived around 10 min later and took over..||||Listen well readers of this review. THIS MOTEL IS NOT HEALTHY AND IT IS NOT SAFE!!! IT SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN! I don't know you, but I still care enough about you to take the time to write this review. PLEASE DO...
Read moreThe hotel itself is huge! Right off the freeway with easy access to major streets too. After 18 straight hours across the country drive with 2 breaks we drove into town and had to find a hotel quickly. I went thru our financial advisor to book and here we are now, comfortable and relaxed. I trust my advisor, implicitly. |Our experience;|||Check in;|Exhausted and hungry we, had called the front desk to arrange a bottom floor room and they were very accommodating, 1st floor. Come to find out, it was the owner. Nice man. We pulled up, husband checked in, bottom floor, no issues what a relief. Lately we’ve had to stay in hotels during escrow and relocation to another state. Hotels are on every corner and advertise with special this and that and usually don’t deliver. All I need is know my husband and I are safe, the rooms are clean, staff is kind and our nights are quiet. All of my criteria were met and that gives this hotel 5 Stars. One person’s 5 Star can be heads or tails different than another’s. ||Arrival;|The night was still young, we had to unpack, shower and we were both cranky. Not a good combination but it happens and the people around you can either light that emotional dynamite stick or snuff it. We got lucky at this establishment. Kay& Doug were helpful and gave us tidbits to make it easier on us. Nobody here starts telling you the rules, speaks loud but are kind and helpful.||I had 3 pricked berry plants that froze driving across the country, a cat that is well behaved and a load of household goods. Not a question or peep about it from the hotel. It’s the kind of place you just feel comfortable and don’t tiptoe around hiding life as it happens. Real people. ||Well, we finally unpacked and were ready to bathe, eat, and hopefully sleep. ||The hotel is near the airport, restaurants, delivery options and if you can’t find something Doug or Kay will let ya know. ||The sleep;|Trouble sleeping we stayed up until 3am, the hotel was quiet and I felt safe. My husband had requested not to have anyone wake us in the morning for cleaning and the owner put us in the list. Low and behold a hotel that honours your requests. ||Finally we both fell asleep and it was so quiet we slept thru until early evening. Peaceful and quiet, best I’ve had since leaving my home in California three months ago. It was beautiful. ||My husband made arrangements to stay another night and maybe even a third. The hotel us exactly what I needed, if you want all the frills and chocolates on your pillow then go to a resort that costs $200 a night. Don’t expect something for nothing or magic. People like my husband and I want quality sleep, quality staff, quality accommodations at a fair price. The Sunset Inn & Suites met all those criteria and I wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend their establishment....
Read moreMy experience at this hotel, it is up and down. The price of the room, it's good.If you buy it in a large quantity. The front desk stab are real, good people. They try to work with you now.The clininess of the room. That is a different story. I went to this hotel, but 3 times my first experience, the room was okay. My second experience, the bed like almost collapsed to the floor my final experience, which was just recently I bugs in the room. After my second experience, they did try to make some upgrades and work on some of their issues. So after I saw when I went into the room, I was sitting there and yeah, all of a sudden, I was like, getting eaten up. I didn't think really nothing of it until I pull the comforter back. And uh, oh, the bed bugs were there, what I can say is, yeah, they instantly, did. He tried to take care of the issue. The following day, if you are looking for a cheap place, I would say. Yes, make sure the clininess is good, but you would get a good price there. If you are looking for quality and good amenities. You would have to go somewhere else cause you're gonna get what you paid for. I really don't like giving bad reviews. So when I was asked to give this review, I really wasn't going to do it because I don't like giving bad reviews. But if I would have gave a good review, and you went there. And you saw all these issues, and I didn't say nothing. My credibility would be shot. It is an independent company. You have to keep that in mind, but they are taking steps to fix the issues. My thing is you get what you paid for but they are trying to fix the issues. So if you don't mind, I'm looking into it. For the prize, I would most definitely say, check the rooms first. But a lot of places need a second chance. So hopefully they fix those issues, and if you do ever happen to go there, you won't have to experience what I did. Again, the front stab at the desk, we're really trying to fix the issue. They even offer me a discount for my next day. So I will be trying to give them a second chance to see if anything has changed. But as it stands right now, this...
