There's really only one thing to say, don't rent out rooms on floors that are actively under construction! Got off the elevator to no carpet and exposed tack strips. They are full of very sharp nails that stick straight up and dangerous before the carpet goes down. The room was nice enough so I figured I'd let the other slide. But we woke to the sounds of the foreman talking to the workers very loudly before 8am. So I opened the door to see if they could keep it down. I was met with new carpet rolled up in front of our door at least 8". If I hadn't looked down it would have definitely caused a fall. Add in the lovely sounds of them using the knee kicker made for a great start to the day I mentioned it to the front desk and John Tweedy, I think was his name, just blew the whole thing off. Like it just didn't matter to him. I explained my concerns and he countered back each time with an attitude. No apologies for the inconvenience of any kind. You should really try and make your guests comfortable and feel like they are home. He clearly doesn't see it that way. The guests are just people in his way. He kept saying that it was out of the hotel's control when the workers started and the condition of the construction zone. And wanted to argue the time they arrived. It was before 8 and he tried calling me a liar by saying it was later. Why argue with me? I'm a guest with legitimate concerns. It could have all been avoided by following the simple rule of DON'T RENT OUT ROOMS ON A FLOOR THAT'S ACTIVELY UNDER CONSTRUCTION!! We are Diamond members with Choice hotels and stay in lots of hotels under that name but this one is one of the worst. I will avoid Litchfield in the future. I noticed in the lobby they had won several awards from Choice over the years but hadn't won one in a few. I'm guessing that's about the time that John was hired.

Horrible, horrible experience! I can't believe this place has 3.9 stars! I had a reservation with the Baymont and they gave my room away so the only one available in this area was the Quality. The only room left was a smoking room. I had to take it because there was no where else for myself and my two kids to go this past Saturday. Other hotels were booked due to the State Fair in Springfield. Once I arrived at the hotel for check in the front desk clerk didn't seem like she wanted to be there and seemed irritated I was even checking in. It was late and I needed someplace to sleep and didn't bother to check the room before paying. My kids and I went up to the room and of course it smelled like cigarette smoke bad, which I expected. I had to clean the filter in the ac unit. It was completely clogged and black. There was no latch for the door. At least I was able to deadbolt it. The sheets were filthy, the carpet was filthy, and the comforter was filthy with cigarette burns in it. I immediately went back down to the front desk and the attendant was no where to be found. I yelled hello numerous times and there was no bell to ring. Finally after about 10 minutes the clerk came in from outside and very rudely asked if I need help. I said I need new sheets because the ones that are on the bed are disgusting. I also told her the comforter had cigarette burns in it and she said, you are in a smoking room and rolled her eyes. She noted the room number and grabbed some new sheets for me. I definitely will not stay at this hotel again.

The only problem I had with this hotel is they need to work on their communication skills if a guest calls and says they will still be coming but the person did not leave the message telling the next shift that. Instead of canceling right away, maybe they should reach out to the guests to make sure they're still coming. That could limit extra pending money for the guest .

I booked this hotel based off the reviews and online. Let me start with I checked in very late (12:30am) as I’m from out of town. When I first got here I did notice many renovations being done. We checked in and gathered all our things to take to the room. Upon entering the room, there was a very strong smell of Mildew. We had the whirlpool king suite. I had to immediately do some work as I was on the road for hours. Their internet is Public(with no security) so I was unable to connect my work laptop to internet. The business room was being used for construction supplies, Larry tried to help me get connected but my boss informed me that I would have to use my hotspot off my phone to connect to my laptop just to get my work done. Took longer than expected. When we pulled the couch bed out there was food and trash underneath, there was cigarette burns in the blanket that was provided. Larry was nice and replaced it for us. There were dead bugs in corners and a spot that definitely needed attention for repair. The beds were very uncomfortable. Since we got in so late there was nothing open when we arrived but they had a vending machine by our room. When my daughter went to get something she came back in and said everything was $2. I said ok, go get a couple things. She gave me a look so I got up and went to see what the issue was. Man, they literally went to Sam’s club got a case of the chips and popcorn and stocked that vending machine. $6 later she now had two small bags of chips and 1 popcorn. Now booking online I booked this room for two days as I needed to stay for the weekend. However, we checked out that morning. Upon checking out John informed me I would be charged extra for not staying both days( which he removed) John wasn’t very pleasant. Larry was and did his best. Breakfast was very limited. So if you’re able to drive 35 miles into Springfield I highly...
