this place is AWFUL ! (Jan. 28, 2014) I won't even rate it a star cause that would mean I liked it a little bit. I did not. there are several good reasons to avoid this hovel. first: the service was the worst that I have EVER encountered ! so much so, that I am writing this (my first review ever good or bad). the guy at the desk who was in his 20's or 30's was rude at the time I checked in. no problem with me, I can usually let that slide. but he did not have business cards or coffee in the morning ! I travel all over the southland, and the first thing I do when I get into a room is check the air conditioning filters. I have allergies and dirty ac's set them off quick and bad. these were so filthy, I brought them out to him outside in the parking lot. the desk guy just happened to be walking by, I got an attitude for removing them when I asked that they be cleaned. then more attitude from the lady (his mom, wife, who knows?). the room was very small, but the furniture was new. so new, that there was a lock on how loud the tv volume went. it only went to 20. I cant hear everything at such a low volume. then later that night, the two wall light fixtures on either side of the bed did not work. I couldn't even call the desk cause the room had NO PHONE !! who wents rooms without phones ? but I got attitude when I went to the desk to tell them, the lady mumbled to me that she would send the manager to my room. the guy comes, I tell him about the fixtures, and he said he did not have spare bulbs!! who doesn't have spare bulbs? theres a cvs drugstore next door. he went on to say that he wouldn't be able to get any till tomorrow morning. well, in my mind, I thought I should mention that the cvs was open, and that he could easily get them out of another room. but instead, I told him I had a couple of bulbs with me and that I would check to see if that was the problem. then he says, " yeah, go ahead, change the bulb, but remember to take it with you. I can't get anymore till tomorrow cause they take a 'special bulb' " wtf ?!? a special bulb ? he just told me to see if I could change it if I could. did he think I carried special bulbs with me ?? or was he just being LAZY and not want to change it at 11 o'clock at night ? I think his customer service skills are just piss poor. and I would advise friend or foe to spend their money...
Read moreMotel 6 is what it is, a functional motel room, with the most basic of amenities. The chain has completely modernized their rooms with contemporary, IKEA like furnishings. This is one of those properties. It actually was an old indie roadside motel on PCH brought into the Motel 6 fold. I’ve seen this often lately. Keep in mind that Motel 6 really has upped its game to remain competitive against the industry.||||As for giving 4 stars, it’s based more on value and overall cleanliness. If I could give a 1/2 Star to make it 4 1/2, I would. There were just a few minor flaws, but nothing drastic and actually in line for a motel of this caliber. Some of the wall outlets were askew and not flush. The entry door was on the funky side, but I still felt safe. One of the blinds had a broken solar. The tub wasn’t curved, but the shower curtain was meaning water got all over the floor. I get why they put a curved curtain, but the tub needed to be replaced to match. There were a few minor blemishes on the walls too. Someone also damaged the top of the TV, allowing white light to show. Again, nothing major.||||The TV is huge and has a nice channel lineup. The audio can be an issue as it has multiple sound channels (English, Spanish, Descriptive Video) and it can be random. I’d never watched a show with DVS though. ||||This bed was very comfortable. Not luxurious, but firm and functional. Slept well. Would have liked more pillows though. Again, not a deal breaker.||||Price was right compared to others in the area. ||||Free WiFi was fast and worked great.||||I’d...

I had to open a case against the desk person who checked us in. He was very agitated and verbally aggressive. He threatened to cancel our reservation, which would have left my cis girlfriend and myself who is trans (afab/nonbinary) stranded at 11:30p in not the best part of a town that I have never been to, unless we paid a price that was significantly higher than the price I agreed to when I made the reservation online earlier this month. He wanted proof of the 10% off benefit I used when I made the reservation. From the moment he approached us at the window, he was aggressive and verbally abusive. He made us feel very unsafe. He refused to attempt to listen or understand when I tried to show him my SCCA membership card and digital code that I used when I made the reservation online. The customer relations people I spoke with said that this Motel 6 property manager has 5 businesses to get in touch with me before CS makes a decision in our case which will be Saturday 6/3. I do not know the name of the man or the property manager but I really hope they are not the same person because he is the last person I ever want to speak to...
