I shouldn’t give only one star, because to be fair, I didn’t even get a chance to try anything except for the dim sum buns with pork, which were pretty good actually.
My colleague and I showed up here right at noon, and were immediately seated. I went to use the restroom and came back to the table that now had menus and tea, but nothing else. After about 6-7 minutes a lady came by to ask if we wanted dim sum off the platter she was carrying, so I said yes. I tried one and it was pretty good and filling, so I left the other two because I wanted to make sure I wasn’t too full before my meal. After another few minutes I waved down a waiter and asked for water, which he brought but immediately turned and left without asking if we were ready to order. We had been ready to order for fifteen minutes but no one came. Three other tables of people came and they already had ordered and had soup. After 25 minutes with no one coming by I finally hat up and put on my coat, and my colleague walked out the door. I waived down another waiter and they asked if we were not going to eat. I said we had already been there a half hour and needed to go back to work, so I just need to pay for the dim sum. I paid and left, without having tried much of anything. I am not sure why we weren’t served. We were in plain view near the other tables that had all...
Read moreThis is definitely our favorite Dim Sum place in the LA South Bay. It has all the items we love. Some items are not easily found outside the San Gabriel Valley.
Highly recommended unusual items to try: “Steamed Shrimp Ball” in the to-go menu: our family and extended families all Iove this fish, it’s called the pearl shrimp-balls in Chinese. Many people probably don’t know about it because most places don’t have them. They are shrimp-balls rolled with sticky rice outside. It’s very different from ordinary dim sum, and very delicious. We usually get one to two per person (4 to an order) and more to take home! “Po Lo sweet paste bun” in the to-go menu. This dessert is amazing. I forced a friend to try, after trying it, she said it was evil, ha ha, definitely irresistible. Po Lo means pineapple in Chinese, but it doesn’t have any pineapples in this delicious dish (at least at this location), it’s a very yummy pastry that has the pineapple look, and it has sweet creamy paste inside. If served warm, it’s super delicious. It’s also rarely found outside SGV.
They also have most other normal dim sums you’d expect, they are all very delicious.
The owner lady at the counter is always very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the...
Read moreThe food we had here was really good. Definitely above average Chinese food, all cooked very well. My issue was with the price and the service. The dishes ran between about $13 for plain chow main to about $25 or maybe a little more for some of the dishes like walnut shrimp. There was no rice served with the food as you usually find in Chinese restaurants so it was just the plates of food. As far as the service goes they were nice and it was pretty quick they just didn’t really check in with us to see if everything was ok. Our grandson really wanted some plain noodles and I had to find someone to ask them if we could get dome. (Those were the plain chow main noodles I mentioned.) Anyway it was good and I enjoyed going to a place my grandpa used to enjoy years ago. I usually give 5 star reviews but I couldn’t quite get there in this case just because the price seemed high for what we got. If you want dim sum check if they have it before you go. That might only be on the weekends. They didn’t have it on the Friday...
