I knew this place was gonna be good from the outside when I saw their sign, and large parking. Further confirmation was a fairly large waiting area & old school pad to write your name down during extended wait times - I can tell this place pops on the weekend & gets crowded.
To Experience the BOOM in ya mouth😋😋😋you must come to this lovely spot in Lomita. Hot 'N Tot is magically delicious 🌈 💯 there is a reason they have been here since 1946 - pure bliss! 👍🏽
On this visit I had Chilaquiles w/ chile verde, two eggs, with rice & beans. This plate was so good I killed the entire plate in like 15 minutes, pure fire🧨🔥🐦🔥it was the bomb 💣 yes I said the bomb in 2024🤣 it was that good!
Wifey went with one of their omelettes & she substituted wirh a bananba pancake. The omelette was great but the highlight of her dish was the bandana pancake. Our waitress (Wendy - really cool vibes & service) brought out this magical ✨🪄pecan syrup, oh my...it was so tasty my wife immediately ask for a to-go box, packed up half of her omelette to ensure she had room in her tummy to finish her pancake with that tasty magical 🌈 syrup - so good!!!
This is a classic diner with great vibes. In this 2024 world of quick & casual; it is nice to find this gem offering great tasting dood with fresh ingredients, classic atmosphere, and stellar service ,💯 - they even use old school tickets for your bill, hand-writen too...I love everything about this place & I'll definitely be back - they just gained 3 new customers for life! I will be coming here as a senior citizen - lord willing ✝️🛐
They are open for breakfast & lunch only so do not make dinner plans🤣 Frankly, I see why, they have mastered their dishes and you can taste the quality. I observed very closely, these are hard-working staff who are dedicated, every dish coming out to everyone's table looked delicious😋😋😋 go as soon as you can - there is nothing else to say, toodles 😁
Re-visit 10/10/25, same great food but we did not sit in Webdy's section so the service was just ok. Wendy is the best & we will be sure to wait for her section...
Read moreI love breakfast joints. It’s my life’s mission to find the best one in every neighborhood I venture through. In short, this place is not that. Four dishes I had before writing this review, and 4 dishes I was thoroughly unimpressed.
Dish 1, corn beef and hash - easily the best of the 4 I had. Corned beef clearly from a can, but that’s ok with corned beef. Some people prefer that. Hash browns were way undercooked. Only the thinnest layer of browning.
Dish 2, chicken fried steak - this felt like I was eating pure overcooked fried batter. Only the tiniest amount of actual meat underneath globs of crispy gunk. The little meat that was there was rubbery and completely unseasoned. Hash browns were way undercooked. Only the thinnest layer of browning.
Dish 3, chicken and waffles - probably the worst chicken and waffles I’ve ever had. The chicken was clearly a half chunk of frozen breast that tasted a month old. The breading again was way too much but I was almost thankful because the chicken was so bad. The waffles tasted like they were cooked in the same waffle maker that was there in 1946. There were flavors in that waffle that seriously tasted like they cook seafood in that waffle maker. It was horrible and I couldn’t finish even half my plate.
Dish 4, loco moco- what a disaster. Rice felt and tasted like it was rehydrated from the day before. The meat tasted like the absolute worst part of a cow you could eat. Completely unseasoned. Chewy like a piece of tire. The only thing right was that my eggs were in fact not over cooked. Woopty doo. Hash browns were way undercooked. Only the thinnest layer of browning.
The only saving grace of this place is the decor and the service. Those are the reasons I went so many times. I tried 4 times to make this place work, and it just didn’t happen. At least get the hash browns right! Can’t...
Read moreI live up the street and it took me a while to finally make my way in here and I hate myself for taking so long to try this place. I believe this is the oldest diner in the area and it still maintains that old diner feeling. The staff here is top notch and so welcoming, I've met many different servers in the couple times that I've been here and not one of them has ever gave me attitude or made me feel rushed, you can tell they enjoy their job and it reflects in the atmosphere of the restaurant.
They've followed Covid Guidelines since the beginning of the Pandemic but due to recent restrictions they are only takeout for now (Dec.2020) They serve you huge portions here and all made from scratch from the wonderful Hispanic chefs you can see making your food if you sit at the counter(back when you could) The chilaquiles verde were one of my favorite things here but they changed it around so my go to now is the Chile Verde Omelette and man do they hit it out the ball park here. They have many options to choose from and alot of specials u want find on the actual menu, just talk to your server and im sure they'll have a suggestion for something ud like. Overall this is one of my favorite breakfast spots in the area and I hope they are able to keep going after we make it through this Pandemic, if you want an authentic diner experience with great food and big portions this is...
