Very overpriced for a holiday in It's funny but here in Long Beach California many motels and hotels are in bad areas. This one was not in a bad area it's near the airport and it's quiet which is strange but since Holiday Inn took over this hotel from Marriott things have changed and not for the better. The beds are nice but they are not pillow top which is strange for Holiday Inn and most holiday and locations actually have free breakfast but this one does not as they serve it in the penthouse so that means it's $18 extra per person for breakfast that's mediocre After Marriott left this hotel into the hands of Holiday Inn, it is horrible. The only reason I gave it four stars for the staff was because of one man who worked between 3:00 and 11:00 who was lovely and overworked by himself and because the CFO of the company help me find parking for my van and trailer that were together but the parking was impossible there and he gave me a place to park when no one else was around and the security guard was outstanding as well There is no longer any kind of room service at this hotel which is really a bummer because when we were signing in they mentioned that we could order room service mentioned dinner hours and all that and when I asked for a menu for the room service I was told they didn't have those so I was lied to when we signed in I don't like how they don't check the dispensers for the hand soap the lotion the shampoo or conditioner or body wash it seems as they have many new employees we went for our whole stay without having any hand soap to wash our hands because the pump was broken and or the bottle was empty which is a disappointment as well as being gross My suggestion is to be very careful when you spend your money at a hotel in Long Beach as they have hotels all over this town and although it's pretty to look at the rooms are small in the tower and the annuities and Extras do not exist. In the morning I like to drink a lot of coffee Unfortunately they give you four coffee pods for their coffee maker but two of them are decaffeinated which is not something I'd ever drink so I'd ask the staff for coffee and nobody knew who had them but they didn't have any that's another complaint as well as the fact that hotels that are charging over $200 a night that for a month's rent would cost you over $6,000 they can afford wheel half and half or real coffee cream instead of the dry poisonous stuff that's made with GMO corn You'll pay close to the same price anywhere near the beach even if it's in the middle of the ghetto and some of them are although this place was not in the ghetto it's just very close to the airport If you don't mind the bed not having fluffy comforters a pillow top and really nice pillows? Then you can stay here if not I would suggest looking for a hotel that actually serves breakfast everyday even if it's a light breakfast it's better than nothing Who knows you might like it but I'm a member of the holiday in club and stay at the holiday in on my travels quite often now and this place was an absolute disappointment compared to other ones that I stayed at such as the one in Klamath Falls Oregon which really is magnificent not just the staff but the rooms and all of...
Read moreI stayed at the Holiday Inn last week while in Long Beach for work. Along with my co-worker, we went upstairs to the roof top bar for a drink and dinner. Upon entering the restaurant, our welcome was less than welcoming. Granted I did have a beer I had brought from my room, but instead of a courteous, hi, welcome, I'm sorry but we can't allow outside drinks inside the restaurant, I was greeted with a "ah * no, you can't bring that in here, you need to leave" type attitude, I resounded to finishing my drink in the mens bathroom, which was somewhat awkward for the gentleman standing at the urinal. Sorry sir, I've been sent away by the bartender.
Upon reentering, sitting at the bar felt uncomfortable so we went to a table. The woman who greeted us was very friendly, brought our two beers out and we sat and caught up. As we were about to order another beverage and dinner, the original bartender came to our table demanding a credit card to put on file for a tab saying "it gets crazy in here!!", making us feel as if we were thieves who were going to run out the door of the restaurant, only to wait for the slow elevator to whisk us away. Between both the initial incident and then the second with this erratically behaved bartender, we felt our treatment was uncalled for, literally making me feel sick to my stomach. I charged the two beers to my room and we left.
The next morning for breakfast, upon going upstairs to the restaurant, the same sick feeling came back, but I keep my mind open for a better experience. Food was okay, some of the trays were scraped clean, I sat down and looked for the coffee bar. Not seeing one, I asked for a coffee and was brought out a paper cup. Everyone else had nice ceramic mugs, why paper I thought? So I asked for mug, the young waiter brought one over, I transferred the coffee, and took a sip of cold, old coffee. Done here. I quietly got up and left.
I reported the incident to the front desk agent upon checkout. I explained what happened and she apologized, refunded the drinks, and said the manager would contact me that day. When I was given the final bill and was charged three hundred and fifty for a one night stay and received that kind of treatment, I was dumbfounded. I never did hear from the manager.
Very disappointed to say the least. Likely to never stay there again, which is unfortunate because it is very close to where I have to go for work frequently. The whole experience made me...
Read moreRoom invasion in the middle of the night by employee
During my stay at a Holiday Inn in Long Beach, CA a hotel employee walked in my (locked) room in the middle of the night. No knock, just walked in. Started me out of a dead sleep. They saw me jump out of my bed and immediately ran out of the room. After the adrenaline rush I didn't really go back to sleep. (work was a joy the next day) In the morning I asked why. Front desk said it was to "check to see if someone was in the room".
Here is what IHG had to say when I contacted them: "I hope you're safe and well. I am **from IHG Guest Relations. It's a pleasure to assist you. I sincerely apologize for the experience you encountered during your recent stay at the Holiday Inn Long Beach Airport. Please know that incidents of this nature are taken very seriously by our team, and we have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. Don't worry, I have personally contacted the hotel and spoken with *, the Front Desk Staff. She has provided insight into the issue, acknowledging that there was a failure on the part of the PM shift staff to properly fulfill their duties, resulting in your room being incorrectly marked as vacant in their system. * has extended her apologies and, as a compensation, she is offering you a complimentary breakfast. To redeem this offer, simply approach the front desk."
"incidents of this nature are taken very seriously by our team" Nothing says we are serious like a complimentary breakfast. /s
(follow up with the hotel and IHG yielded a lack of any real acknowledgment of the seriousness of the incident and was finally offered 25000 pts with the comment “that’s the best we can do” which isn’t the point at all. Besides, 25000 points is what I have been offered when the hot water was off or valet parking was full. It’s insulting and eye opening that they couldn’t care less.)
Follow up. IHG said they support the hotels manager in their compensation decision. Be aware that there are some serious issues at this property. I didn't go into it in my review but the room itself was poorly cleaned and maintained with 2 light fixtures, window blinds and AC controls on the wall that didn't work. If you stay here after reading this review then at least you know what...
