For years we've been eating at the orange county zankou and love their food. The last 2-3 years their pricing has been creeping up to costs that do not make sense for the type of dining and food. We visited the newly opened branch in long beach. I will say if prices were high the last time I visited, this time I also experienced "shrinkflation"! $13 for a single piece of chicken! We ordered 3 meals and the bill made no sense for the quantities we received. Yet the place was packed! Maybe these are new flavors for most in town and are willing to pay ridiculous prices but we're not going to be taken for fools. The long beach establishment is nice, but it felt very crammed and very difficult to move around over the weekend. Plenty of parking on premise. We paid around $50 for 1 meal and 2 wraps which is the equivalent of 5-7 whole rotisserie organic chickens for nearby grocery stores. Not sure I should even blame them or our irresponsible government for bringing us...
Read moreDry roast chicken, burnt chicken Tarna and freezing cold inside. Hopefully someone from Pasadena or Hollywood can revamp this place bc I love Zankou Chicken. No joke it must have been 50 or 60 degrees when we left, I actually went and got my jacket mid meal, I remember the last bite of chicken tasted like I was eating it out of a cold fridge. My dad repeated to me like 4 x we should have gone to chicken Maison. I told the manager about the freezing cold and she blamed the HVAC system, ok but this is an easy fix, you just have to open the twin double doors because it was much warmer outside. I got the feeling this was a "clever" way to clear out the earlier-very- busy dining room. I told my guests they probably have all new personal from southbay area who don't know how to operate a Zankou. Gonna wait a few months...

We ordered several “Chicken Shwarma plates”… It was repeated back, “Chicken”.. They give us Beef??? When we call to let them know they gave us all Beef. The response was “If you do not say Chicken Tarna plate, then you get Beef.” WTH?? Really?? Not even a apology or were so sorry, come back and we will fix it or next order we will take care of you. They actually believe they gave us the correct order and hung up on us… WOW…. LAST TIME WE GO TO THIS LOCATION.. so will my readers… I guess it’s back to Panini Kabob… Make sure you are clear with your order people…. You might order a veggie plate and get...
