Only giving 2 stars because the room was fairly clean (although the first night I had to ask them to come change the pillowcases because they had old stains and hair on them). And I am giving a star because the valet guys are all friendly respectful and do their job with a smile on their face.
Otherwise hotel sucks. Overpriced and no amenities. You would think the amount you pay for room service they would atleast serve it in glassware and provide silverware---no literally they gave me the desert in a plastic container with fast food plastic utensils as if I picked up an order from McDonalds. The molten cake tasted like it was warmed up in a microwave.
The restaurant in the lobby although our waiter was nice...the service is slow. We stood around for more than 20 minutes before we were even greeted to be seated. And please save yourself and not pay $29 per person for breakfast buffet...choices are limited, not vegan or vegetarian friendly, and nothing was being restocked/replenished.
They refuse to give water. They gave 2 bottles in our room the first night. After that regardless if they serviced/cleaned your room they did not refresh the water bottles. Sooo like whats the point of keeping a coffee machine if I dont have clean water to make coffee? On top of that it was a pretty crappy cuisinart coffee maker.
I called the front desk and asked if they would give me water bottles and that I would pay for whatever the cost is. 2 hours passed they never bothered to bring the water bottles. I had a sleeping toddler and could not leave my room. Luckily I was able to have a family member go buy me a case of water bottles from a nearby walmart.
Their mini fridge did not work. Nothing kept cooled in there. They did not provide a microwave to heat up food and their hotel food sucks/limited and most of us need to order take out so that we can get some normal tasting food to eat.
They had a communal microwave which was never cleaned during my stay--I mean literally it was so filthy for 4 days straight.
They were unwilling to provide glassware like a plate to heat up your food. So I fortunately was some how able to get one from the restaurant/bar downstairs. I have a toddler so such amenities I consider important especially if a child has special food requirements.
They did not replenish/restock kleenex for the four nights I stayed there. They had my parents pay an extra $50 to extend their checkout from 12pm to 3pm clearly being a gold member does not matter to them or the fact that we stayed so many nights did not matter...most hotels are very accommodating. Anyway its fine we paid for that extension. But since they never replenish anything in your room, my mom asked the lady with the cleaning cart if her room can get kleenex the cleaning lady's response was "but you are checking out arent you"...like hold on what?? That is so unprofessional to tell your customers oh because they are checking out they cannot get kleenex. And especially if they just paid for their checkout to be extended lol.
How about the fact your cleaning staff would never replace the empty kleenex box and or toilet paper for the entire time we stayed there?! Lmao what a joke.
Also, front desk staff never thoroughly explained what our stay included. For example my parents room had daily credit for purchasing at the onsite restaurant and/or the market pantry. That was never explained until checkout. Soo I guess everyone needs to be re-trained there?
Would not return and would not...
Read moreOur stay at The Hilton in Woodland Hills, CA, was the absolute worst hotel experience we have ever had. We rented a $300/night suite on their executive floor, expecting things to be GREAT, as they usually are at that price. But it was anything but. It was 100 degrees outside when we arrived, and our suite had the AC set to 'off' so it was smoldering hot in there for the first 2 hours till it finally cooled down.
As if that wasn't enough, the lights in the whole suite were controlled by a photo-cell. Meaning that every 10-15 minutes or so, the lights went out in the whole suite, and we had to wave our hands frantically to activate the photo-cells to turn the lights on. This would be acceptable in a $40/night roadside motel...but in a $300 Hilton suite, not so much. Extremely cheap touch.
But the most disappointing part of our stay in this hotel was their new, shockingly selfish Room Service policy. We've stayed in lots of hotels throughout Covid, and all other hotels we've been to still offer room service, the only difference being that the person delivering it wears a mask and gloves, then drops it at your door after knocking on your door, or calling you to let you know your food has arrived.
But nope, not the Hilton! In an embarrassingly transparent attempt to take advantage of the current situation and save money, we were told that they had ELIMINATED room service. Why, I asked? "For the safety of our guests' I was told.
Let's review: Having a masked, gloved worker who only uses the service elevator, thus not having any human contact with the guests, then drops it off at your room, is somehow (mystically) endangering the safety of their guests...
Their solution? Every guest must go down to the lobby (spending time in the elevator VERY close to other guests on the way down, followed by lots of close encounters in the lobby. You then have to grab their QR Code on your phone (not a problem at all, but if they really cared about guest safety, they would post that QR code inside every guest room, so guests wouldn't have to make that trip down, exposing themselves to more risk).
Next, you order your food from the front desk. And now you have the option between spending 15-45 minutes in the lobby waiting for your food (while tons of people who could infect you come in and out of the lobby, as well as other people waiting for their food), or going back to your room, then coming back, again doubling up on your risk of getting Covid.
Finally, you get your food, which of course is delivered to you by the same person who otherwise would have dropped the food at your door.
Conclusion: The Hilton (at least this Hilton) shows a shocking lack of care for their guests, willfully exposing us to other guests, instead of keeping room service the way it used to be - a completely safe-for-all drop-off at your door.
I will never stay at a Hilton again after...
Read moreThis location falls short of being a 4-star hotel and wasn't up to the quality I expected for the price or the Hilton brand. There are very few good quality hotels in the San Fernando Valley, so compared to others this one is decent. The entryway is nice, but rooms are average and need some repairs/detailing. The best part of the stay was the friendly valet parking service (an extra $23 per night, but no other acceptable option unless you want to pay $21 to self-park a half-mile away).
The rooms were fairly clean with minor detail eyesores, some drywall defects around smoke alarms and tattered baseboard moldings. Also found a few hairs on the pillows/bed. The worst part was the bed and pillows were super uncomfortable. It was impossible to get a good night's sleep in that bed and we both had sore backs and shoulders after 2 nights. Also, the bed was really short, so even at 5'10" my feet were over the edge. We left a day early because we couldn't stand another night on that terrible mattress. There was no bathroom fan. There was no microwave. No breakfast. No decent coffee options except Starbucks a block away.
The front desk check-in/out experience is terrible. Despite trying to portray an image of high fashion with big flat screens showing runway models ... the counter is shared with a low-class minimart where guests are supposed to get low-quality coffee from a pushbutton machine, and other gas-station caliber snacks. The guests trying to charge water/soda/snacks to their rooms clog up the lines for people trying to check in/out, so you're left standing there holding your luggage for however long that takes.
There's no sign that this hotel actually wants to have guests. No welcome drink or warm towel. No fruit or coffee or breakfast of any kind. No complementary snacks in the room. No water. Nothing.
They only way they can get away with charging what they do is that there are no other good options, except maybe the Courtyard Marriott in Sherman Oaks, which is also average at best.
A note to the GM of this hotel: a welcome beverage and decent coffee would have gone a long way.
Best part of the stay was interacting with the friendly valet staff ... they...
