Starlight Cottage — Hotel in Los Angeles

DO NOT STAY HERE!

If I could leave a ZERO star rating I would.

Upon checking in (May 2017 for a two nights stay) ... I was flabbergasted at how run down and scary this place is. The rooms DO NOT reflect the nice rooms as pictures shown on their website.

At first I was given room #11. First indication that I should have left right then and there was that they had doorknobs and that they were old and loose. What if a past guest made a key?? I couldn't get in at first. It thought MAYBE??? they gave me the wrong key?? After fumbling a bit longer I finally got in. First impressions ... ew! The room was drab and the air was stale. I walked into the bathroom and noticed the shower stall was covered in black mould. Back in the room I looked up at the ceiling and saw a trap door leading to the attic ... and when I pushed on it ... it OPENED. There was no lock for the trap door! I went back to the front desk and asked for another room. This time I was given room #7. The only difference from room #7 and room #11 was that there was no trap door on the ceiling. Again the room itself was drab and stale, and again ... black mould all over the bathroom shower stall. By now, I had REALLY bad vibes from this place. I didn't dare sit on the bed for fear of possible bedbugs or cockroaches.

I decided that, for my safety, I was not going to stay there. I went down to the front desk and asked for my money back. They would not refund my money. I had paid $220usd for a two night stay. The person who checked me in originally claimed to be the manager NOW told me that the manager was on vacation (conveniently) and would refund me next week. I called my credit-card company to try and cancel the transaction, they said the charge was in the pending stage and couldn't do anything for me at the moment. I immediately booked another place and left.

Fast forward three weeks later.

My credit-card company said that I must first try to get my money back from the motel directly. That they cannot do anything for 15 days after the charge has been posted to my account.

long distance call after call ... the manager is still on vacation ...??? Seriously??? They said that they manager has decided to extend their vacation? Even as of TODAY ... the manager has not returned from vacation.

SO I called my Cc company today and started a dispute on the charge from the motel. Let's see how long it takes for me to get my money back. I did check in to another motel within 30 minutes of leaving Starlight Cottage. Hopefully the cc company see's this and KNOWS 100% that I did not stay.

NEVER AGAIN!! STAY AWAY FROM...

I booked this place due to location. It is the cheapest motel/hotel in the area. It is also tired and dirty with inattentive cleaners and owners/managers who don't care. I pointed out to the owner that there was dirt and filth on the inside of the fridge and visible handprints on the outside, no batteries in the smoke detector, and smokers in non-smoking rooms stinking up the place. Managers refused to give me a battery for the smoke detectors and only 1 lock on the doors works. No light in the shower so you get wet in a coffin. Mattresses were old and did not have mattress pad/protective covers on them. Manager rolled her eyes at me when I brought up issues and refused to enter room saying the rooms were normally over $200 a night (I laughed at this claim) and I got a discounted rate so my complaints didnt matter.||There is a $5 cash deposit to use the TV remote! Lol! That should tell you all you need about this place.||Not...

This place is by far the worst motel.. the city of Los Angeles building and safety needs to get involved with the. ASAP . The rooms are disgusting , the beds are disgusting I don’t even think they bother to change them out whenever they have a new guest come in . The rooms smelled horrible like old cigarettes there was graffiti on the room doors and walls and when I walked into the bathroom there was a huge cockroach right on the mirror and when I went back to the front desk after only being checked into the room five minutes I demanded he get my money back and that I could not stay there he refused to give me my money back , he tried to give me the room next door which was even more disgusting .. not to mention how over priced the place is .. If ur reading this do not go to this motel , u can find way cheaper ones just down the street who actually give a fuh and...
