Checked in around 4:30 Friday August 1st as I was attending a convention there. Everything seemed nice when we walked in. We got to the desk to check in and it was 4 other people with me we knew we wouldn’t be in the same rooms but we hoped that we would not be with random people. When checking in the lady at the desk exclaimed that 3 of us were in one room and 2 of us were in the other and we were excited about that. 2 of our group was not there yet so 3 of us were checking in. The first person checks in and they take a credit card from him and told him no one in his room checked in yet. Me and the other person I was with were told we were in the same room. They then took both of our credit cards for the room. I thought this was odd but I assumed maybe they were just splitting it up. We head to our room when I get a call from the other guy that was checking in that people were in his room. He then came up to our room and we all went to the front desk to then eventually find out he was in a room with random people. I know this is not the hotels fault but seriously some communication would be nice. Next I eventually check my bank account to see that I was charged $125 for incidentals. This was odd and I asked everyone in my room how much they were charged they all say the $125 so for 4 people in the room incidentals was $500 that is absolutely outrageous and I never have heard of everyone having to put there card down. I get it that we are 20-25 year old men but still can we be shown a little respect because I personally work at a Hilton and the person checking in gets charged an incidental fee once of $25-150 not 4 separate times. When asking the staff about this they just stayed quiet as I assumed this goes against Marriott policy. The gm here is a disgrace charging $40 a night for parking when you can just go to the Hyatt right next to it and pay $15 a night. All in all if you are looking for a nice hotel in downtown Louisville I recommend the Hyatt not the Marriott as the Marriott will just skew you beyond belief. Side note, I do have respect for the other staff members here not working front desk of in the back office they were great and I wish they found a better...
Read moreProperty is under construction on rooms. My group was on 14th floor, which was mostly renovated. They were definitely working on the floor beneath, as noise was loud and constant from morning to 6pm or even later. While the renovated room was more upscale, some things were left undone. My group had 4 rooms, reserved kings, and all 4 rooms wound up with 2 beds. One of my beds was so bad, I literally felt the dips from previous guests. Moved to the other bed, only slightly better, and wound up using the duvet as a mattress pad. The other 3 rooms did not complain on their beds, so maybe I was the only one with that problem. (I did not report this to staff) An outlet is strangely put by a mirror so that the mirror hampers the ability to plug anything into the outlet... (poor design) While tv is large, it is not a smart tv - which is annoying for a 'renovated room'. The floors are now wood laminate style, cold and hard on feet - but I know it is easier to keep clean... The view was lovely though, definitely the best part of the room. Since everyone had mentioned The Porch in reviews, we had a reservation. It is NOT worth the hype. Overpriced and not that great. They have a lot of tables that remain totally empty (we were there for 5 days, and there was never anyone seated there), and they make you sit at high-topped bar tables if you don't have a reservation. A reservation gets you a giant long "U" style booth. It is very loud, so none of us could hear what the other was saying. Drinks are strong - so there is that! Room service is exact same menu of Porch, which is limited. I did order a burger on room service and it was good and the delivery guy was super nice and respectful, plus delivered in 30-ish minutes - which is better timing than most room service. We were there for a convention and there were 2 other conventions at the same time, so the main downstairs was busy, crowded and loud. If you want a party, this is the place! When construction is finished, it'll definitely be...
Read moreLong post, MY EXPERIENCE at Louisville Marriott Downtown I attended Burnett Avenue Baptist Church 135th Anniversary Gala and it was simply BEAUTFUL. To see US in our #afterfive attire was "stunning!" I saw classmates, childhood friends I grew up with, and met some really nice people. The attendance was sold out. You could feel the brotherly and sisterly love from everyone. Burnett Avenue Baptist Church did their thing putting this together.👏🏾 Shout out to the committee for the different props to take pictures, the display of the history of the church, the fonobo, etc... On the other hand, Louisville Marriott Downtown need to be called out on a few things I experienced. Every server had a language barrier. I tried to ask a question, and they just look at you like you crazy. Not one person was bilingual or could speak English, but you have them working in an environment where the majority people that visit this establishment speak English. (make that make sense). The food was horrible in my opinion. The chicken breast was dry and no flavor or seasoning to any of the food whatsoever. The little bit I did eat for my $125 made me so sick to my stomach. I spent more time in the bathroom than anything. It taste like processed food warmed up in the oven. They need a real chef in their kitchen. Oh, and the ladies room, we had no toilet paper in three of the four stalls. We all in the bathroom using Kleenex that was on the counter. Not to mention, the one stall that did have some toilet paper, we passing it under the stalls so people would have something to use. They never brought none in until it was almost over, but I ended up leaving because my stomach was in bad shape. This is totally unacceptable for this to be a so called "five star hotel." This post is not for everyone or may not had this experience, but I'm gonna speak "my peace on my page". 😡 #LouisvilleMarriott needs to...
