I would think a place that calls itself a "Travelodge" would strive to be better than your average, run-of-the-mill motel. This was not. This place made Motel 6 look like a Ritz Carlton! It was pathetic. For starters, the bathroom: there were 3 towels - a washcloth, a hand towel, and a bath towel. The washcloth was folded up on a little, clear plastic tray by the sink and had a huge gray stain on it. It looked like it hadn't been washed in weeks! The hand towel was damp and a bit grungy, even though it was folded and placed into the towel rack as though it had been freshly laundered. The bath towel had a dirty, gray appearance to it that made it look like someone had just dried off after having rolled around in mud and only rinsing off a little before drying themselves. The bottom of the bathtub looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a few weeks as it, too, was covered in a gray tinge. A few marred spots decorated every wall, and not just in the bathroom. As for the toilet paper, there was only about 1/3 roll on the holder which I had to replace, myself, by grabbing another roll from the housekeeping cart. The desk and two night stands appeared to have been taken from a child's room as every drawer had either marker splotches or melted crayons on the insides. The outsides looked like someone had carelessly run them through a rough sander, especially on the corners and edges. There were two small brackets on the wall in the hallway. I have no idea what they held but, whatever it was, wasn't there, but the brackets sure were and at about head height with little sharp corners sticking out a bit. Same with the non-existent hair dryer - bracket was there, just nothing to be held by it. I think the worst was the fact that the bedding and pillows all had a strong odor of naphthalene (mothballs or moth crystals - take your pick, both are off-putting). The main cover had two marks about an inch long, each, that looked like blades of dead grass had been embedded in it. The top sheet had three green ink spots, each about the size of a quarter, right next to each other in a line. When I first got there, the A/C had been blasting on full and it was like walking into a deep freeze, even though the outside temperature was about 45°, or less. It took a long time to get it back to a comfortable degree. After getting "fresh" towels, from the check-in clerk, I went back to the room and attempted to sleep. Paper thin walls and the people in the room to the left (as facing the door from the hallway) had the volume of their TV about as high as it would go, made this impossible. This went from 10:30 pm until around 2 am. I finally fall asleep at around 4 am, only to be awakened at somewhere between 6 and 6:30 am by the sound of a slamming door. This happened about 8-10 times over the next 1.5, or so, hours. The room doors are all soft-closing with the hydraulic door closer mechanism, so the only possible explanation for the slamming of the door was the cleaning person slamming the utility closet door. Why she would do this several times early in the morning one can only conjecture. I believe I've painted a perfect picture of how my two-night stay experience was. I will NEVER stay at another Wyndham property, again, if this is any indication of how they are kept up. I did manage to get a reduced rate when I first put in my reservation, for the two nights, at $58 per night. I believe it was a special they were running. Even at that rate, it was FAR too much money spent. One thing I found absolutely hilarious was the normal rate, which is posted on a sign on the inside of the room door. This stated, matter-of-factly, that the standard rate per night, for either a single person or two people, was $140.99! When I read this I involuntarily laughed out loud at a pretty high volume. I thought, "Are they kidding? That's a joke, right? There's no way any sane person would spend that kind of money on THIS dump!" Seriously, I would rather stay at the Bates Motel than spend another night at a Wyndham property, especially...
Read moreI wish I could have given them 5 stars.
We enjoyed our stay here. It was a lot better than other hotels we have stayed in. Staff was super friendly. Check in and check out went smoothly. The room was clean, the shower was nice. Breakfast was decent. The in-room coffee was the best in-room coffee I have had compared to other hotels. I loved that it was pet friendly and I felt comfortable having our dog.
I would have given them a 5 star if it weren't for some in-consistencies and in-conveniences.
The first was the house keeping on the first day. They told us on person and had signs everywhere saying there would be no house keeping on Thanksgiving. Which is great. Let employees be with their families. However, housekeeping had been in our room that day. In fact, our hung towels were replaced (even though there was a sign saying to hang your towels if you don't want them changed.
The second was the weird thing that they charged our debit card for all 4 nights when we checked in, not when we checked out. Most hotels charge your account when you leave. There was nothing stating they would charge at the beginning of our stay so we were surprised by that.
The third was with our reservation. They must have gotten us confused with another room. The day before we were to check out, I got a call from them saying, "you checked out at 11am but all of your stuff is still here. Do you want it or do you want us to trash it all?" I explained that our reservation was Wednesday to Sunday and we were supposed to check out tomorrow. So the lady on the phone said she would extend our reservation. That's fine, I guess.
The fourth thing was that they charged us an extra night because of the mix up. We had already been charged for 4 nights, but they charged for another because they thought we hadn't paid it. When we asked to see in itemized receipt, it showed they refunded that amount without communicating it to us. We spent a whole day stressing out about it when they had already refunded us.
There was no apology or anything for the mix up or for the extra $70 taken out of our account.
We wondered what would have happened if money was tight and we didn't have an extra $70. We would have over drafted. What if that was our gas money to make it home?
If you stay here, make sure you have the money in your account when you check in. Don't assume "I get paid tomorrow so it'll cover it". And have enough money to cover for...
Read moreI stayed in a room with 2 double beds with my family of 3 for 4 nights. This trip from LA was planned in advance to attend a wedding in the area and visit Rocky Mountain Park. I’d like to begin with the stench in the room. Each time we walked in there was a humid, musty, moldy odor that was repulsive. Even opening the window was not enough to air out the room because there was perpetual humidity from lack of ventilation in the bathroom. The bathroom fan was not working properly and made a horrible noise when turned on. The hair drier was not functional. The floorboards in the bathroom were dirty and the carpet in the room was stained with dried food particles that hadn’t been vacuumed. The walls were stained and in some areas electric tape to cover up holes. There was also a hole in the curtain. They do not service the room daily under the guise of being “eco-friendly.” This meant running out of supplies such as toilet paper, tissues and shampoo. When we first walked into the bathroom, there were dirty used towels hanging behind the door that must have been overlooked. There were stains on the bed sheets. The television had to be reprogrammed daily, but at least it worked. The room keys had to be reprogrammed daily as well. The shower curtain did not fit the rod properly, thereby causing water splashing out. The furniture was old, stained and damaged. It was obvious that this hotel was dilapidated and in desperate need of repairs and remodeling. The dining room was equally dirty with old and stained furniture. There was one pizza box with a pizza in it left in front of someone’s room for at least 2 days. We never wanted to go back just to relax or hang out in the room because of that stench and filth. We have stayed in Travelodges before and had no complaints. This one is definitely poorly managed and poorly maintained. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and helpful. They gave us information regarding the area as well as assistance with the television and room keys. The breakfast spread was decent aside from a rotten apple that I cut into and an expired milk box. The location was good for visitors, with nearby restaurants. The A/C worked properly. We do not recommend staying here until renovations are completed and proper maintenance is in place, not worth your health (especially for those with allergies to mold, dust, etc)...
