At first I was going to give this place a 3/5. We stayed in unit #7 and the smell reminds me of a wet antique store. I think the unit would benefit from a remodel and a ozone machine. The smell permeated through my clothes and had to wash it 2x to get the smell out since we got home. That being said, my parents room next door did not have a bad odor and they had no complaints about their room or service so I upped my rating.
It was not as clean as I would I have liked. I dropped something under the bed stand when we arrived and it wasn't clean. The sofa was stained as well so we just put a blanket on top. It was remodeled 8 years ago or more and it was like a DIY remodel and the furniture was painted and hard to open. The shower is a skinny stall and there is no countertop space.
This is a motel so keep that in mind and it was my first motel stay. I appreciated that I could text my requests to management if we needed towels or anything. We got a text for the code to our room prior to arrival so we had a no contact check in. I loved that the fridge also had a separate freezer compartment- something I don't see in hotels so we were able to buy popsicles and ice cream. They provide 2 mugs and a spoon, a traditional coffee maker and some coffee and creamer. Their AC worked great. They have a hair dryer and microwave and cabinets for snacks. We had no complaints about noise though our bedroom didn't face the parking lot and we had living room to separate us from noise.
The location- fantastic! I loved taking a morning walk to the lighthouse and back. Close to the shops downtown but Ludington was not that lively. The Java Bloom is the absolute best for coffee though! I didn't care for Stearns beach so we made the 10 min drive to the state park which is amazing. I will be back to the state park but won't be returning to the...
Read moreResearched this online and wasn't sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised by how clean the place was and how spacious our room was. The owners have invested significantly into renovations and still have a little ways to go.
Room 30 has windows that face the lakefront, skate park and putt putt which are across the street. A 2 minute walk and you're on the beach or pier to the lighthouse. There's a very soft, comfy bed in the bedroom, plus a sleep sofa. There are actually 2 bathrooms, one of which is updated nicely and the other needs a shower update but is clean. There are 2 TV's but only 1 remote which was odd. The living area has a cupboard you can use for counter, plus a nice small fridge / freezer and microwave. One big down side for us was no dresser in the bedroom and I prefer not to live out of a suitcase. There is a nice closet in each room, and ample towels. Hairdryer is under the vanity.
Each room has 2 assigned parking spaces and a couple of chairs outdoors to relax in. There is a fenced in pool at the back of the property. The property appears to be well maintained and headed in the right direction for updates. HVAC was great. Easy to set it and forget it. Very comfortable.
The downtown has just about every store and shop and eatery you might be looking for, and within walking distance. We're catching the ferry tomorrow a.m. and it's very close by. Locals seem very friendly and the area is designed to accommodate tourist and make us feel welcome. A couple of nice parks with public restrooms, lots of parking thru out the...
Read moreFirst walked in room and went to use bathroom. Had to kill a spider on the wall which was no big deal. Looked for more just in case but didn't see any but I did lots of cobwebs and hair stuck to the bathroom wall. Went out to get some of our stuff. Came back in and put a back on their little table in the main room. Cob web hit my arm. I looked up toward ceiling and saw an 8" hair stuck to the wall with more cobwebs. Let the front desk lady know what was going on and she did offer to re-clean but I didn't want dust and that hair knocked down around our stuff since we had to leave. I told her I would clean it. I found a broom and dustpan hanging on the bathroom wall. The broom looked like it was from a hair salon due to the wads of hair stuck to the bristles. I took some pics of the hair. It was actually hard believe that was left in a room. I let the manager know about the situation upon checkout and he didn't seem to care and that it was all normal to have that experience in their facility. Hair and cobwebs are not normal to me for a lodging room but to each their own. It was a cute room and the fridge was fairly large. I did not ask for compensation or discount but was offered 10% off of my next stay. I probably won't stay...
