After watching a YouTube about House of Flavors and seeing it suggested many times on Facebook we decided we had to try it while we were in the area. There were many people waiting to be seated when we arrived around 2pm on a Sunday, but we decided it had to be worth the wait.
The wait: We waited probably close to 30 minutes. It took a little longer for us because we requested a table instead of a booth. Otherwise it would've been more like 20 minutes. I didn't mind the wait though, we expected that.
The seating: The table they sat us at was the same size as a 2 seater table next to us, they just crammed four chairs in around it. I understand they need to fit everybody in, but this was a very cramped space for a family of four to sit at. Our knees were constantly knocking into each other and we didn't have enough room on the table for everything. For expecting to have a bill over $100 (which we did) and waiting for a table, I think we deserved to be more comfortable than this.
The food: I got the chicken strips and waffle fries. The chicken strips were very good. The fries were cold and disappointing. My husband got the hot roast beef, which he said was good but he'd had better and it tasted like roast beef he could buy himself from a local deli. My son had the chicken Caesar wrap and enjoyed it. My daughter had the chicken strips and enjoyed it, but her fries were also cold.
The dessert: my daughter and I decided to try the flight of flavors together because there were so many types of ice cream we wanted to try. We loved that experience! It was fun trying several flavors and rating them together. My husband had a waffle cone of caramel caribou and my son had a cup of Milky Way ice cream. The ice cream was good. We all enjoyed it. However, we have had better.
The service: the service was wonderful. Zero complaints. Everyone always looked happy even when it was quite chaotic at times. We never found ourselves waiting for our server to bring us refills or the bill.
Overall: we enjoyed the experience at House of Flavors overall, it was new and a little different. The food was good, but not different from other places. It was a good lunch, but coupled with the price and how cramped we were at our table, it was not enough to make us want...
Read moreWe were on a road trip through the Midwest. It had been a long day of travel for us after starting in Onalaska that morning, driving all the way across Wisconsin, and then enjoying a four-hour cruise across Lake Michigan on the SS Badger, which deposited us in Ludington for a couple of days. All we wanted to do was have dinner and collapse at our hotel. We found the House of Flavors a short distance from the pier and headed in that direction. There was a pretty good-sized crowd out front, so at first glance we thought we might have to resort to figuring out a Plan B, but I walked in and asked how long a wait there would be. The hostess said 10 to 15 minutes, so I put our name on the list and went back out to the car to get my husband. We hadn’t even locked the car when the hostess came running out to the parking lot to tell me that she had been mistaken and there was a table ready for us RIGHT THAT MINUTE! I have never in my life had a restaurant hostess provide that level of service. (In fact, the only other time we have ever been chased into a parking lot was at an electronics store, where the high-pressure salesman we were fleeing was saying, “What can I do to get you to buy that stereo TODAY?” LOL!) The hostess seated us right away, and then we had the most delightful waitress serve us delicious malts and Monte Cristo sandwiches that were obviously not sitting under a heat lamp, as they were piping hot and fresh off the grill. She also provided excellent local sightseeing recommendations. Thanks, House...
Read moreMy 2 friends and I were on a girl's weekend in Ludington and heard this place was amazing. Well, I can see the POTENTIAL for it to be amazing. My experience was not.
Our waitress, Daytrina (according to the receipt - she didn't introduce herself by name), was not friendly at all. She was in a huge hurry, which I can understand because the place was packed), but if you're in the service industry, you should perhaps smile at your customers a little. I don't think she smiled at us at all. Maybe she was just having a bad day. I don't know.
I ordered a cup of chili and a baked potato. My potato 🥔 wasn't cooked all the way. Neither was my friend's. We didn't want to complain to our waitress because she had already been so unfriendly that we didn't want to risk what might happen if we let her know. My friend took hers home with her and said she'd cook it at home. I ate mine anyway and then got sick during my hour and a half trip there. 🤢
The chili was very tasty, but I wish I had ordered breakfast food because we saw others' plates and they looked amazing.
The ceiling vent above us was extremely filthy with dust hanging down over us by strings.
We all loved the decorations around and enjoyed looking around.
I will say that I would like to give this place another try. It definitely has the potential to be a cool place!
P.S. Our server needed to go home. (Please see the attached photo...
