We stayed here on our way down to Hilton Head, SC. I had done some research on the city of Marietta, because it is in my '1,000 Places To See Before You Die' book and I wanted to make a little stop of it. So I found what looked like the best hotel (for what we needed, a two room suite for our two toddlers and my husband and I). I will say that we were thoroughly impressed with this hotel. Not only was it nice and clean, but the staff was extremely friendly. We checked in and got all of our stuff up to the room, we did find a couple bugs on the curtains when we got there...which was kind of gross, but no biggie. I had called before I booked it to make sure the room had a door separating the two rooms and it did, which was perfect. We had a handicapped accessible room which meant the bathroom was huge! It was awesome with the kids, because you could really fit the entire family in the bathroom and not be frustrated or annoyed because you felt cramped. I will say one down side, was that there was no fan in the bathroom, which made 'number 2's' a little less forgiving when you are sharing a hotel room with 4 people...lol...but that's a small detail. Our room overlooked a hill and woods, and was pretty to look out the windows. The windows themselves opened, to get fresh air as well, which you don't see all that often in hotels. The hotel itself is very clean, and smelled nice and new. The breakfast was good, standard things were offered and the woman who ran that particular area was very friendly and talkative. We told her some things we wanted to do, and she told us how to get there and engaged us in small talk. We had some issues with our kids the first night we stayed there, with them not acclimating well to being away from home, so they cried and screamed into the night. We felt so bad for anyone who may have been around us, the next day I asked the staff if there was anyone in rooms around us and they said no, so that was a relief. But they said there was going to be occupants in all the rooms around us that night. Unfortunately that is the reason I gave the hotel only 4 stars, because the family next to us had a crying/screaming baby that carried on ALL night, essentially waking us out of a dead sleep thinking it was our kids and giving us mild heart attacks every time. As I realize this is not the hotels fault, I will say, their walls are paper thin. I mean, I heard the family talking normally, which means the walls are entirely too thin. The next morning at check out they asked about our stay, and I told them it was nice, but the family next to us kept us up all night. They asked if we called to complain and I told them no, because our kid was up screaming all night the night before, so we understood, it just sucked because the walls are so thin. And the clerk went in the back and got us a little gift bag, filled with candy and snacks for the unpleasant night sleep. What a nice gesture. The town of Marietta is a nice historical town and I am glad we made time to stop here. In fact, we stopped here for a quick bite to eat on our way back home and we met the nicest little old couple at Taco Bell. Who chatted us up about Ann Arbor and UofM. What a pleasant little town, we won't hesitate to stop here again if we go...
Read moreLet me say the experience began fine however there were circumstances that led to the decline of my opinion of this hotel; some in control of the staff, other not to their doing. During our stay the hotel was overrun with no less than 300 parents and children who were in town for a soccer tournament, these people literally took over the hotel including the pool and outside patio as well as the breakfast room. I know this led to an increase in the workload for the staff and they tried to do what they could to keep the property clean and orderly. My real disappointment came on the third day which of course followed our second night; on the day after our second night our room was NEVER attended to. We had not left our room until about 11:00 am, partly because we waited to have breakfast until the soccer people were mostly done. We were out until about 3:00 pm and when we returned the room had not been made up; I inquired by calling the front desk and was told that housekeeping was still working and there had been a large number of check outs (soccer people) and the room would be made up. At this time we decided to head to the pool and spa, which by the way were very nice and the area had been cleaned up after the previous evening's party. We stayed at the pool until about 4:30 and then went back to the room which was still not made up. We decided we would wait to shower as we had not towels at this point so we changed and left to go out to dinner; as we left there was a housekeeping person working next door to our room so I felt confident when we returned the room would be clean and made up. We went out had dinner and did a few things and returned to the hotel around 7:30. To my extreme dismay the room had never been made up or entered by housekeeping; I had even left a tip on the counter with a note of thanks to the housekeeper; it was right were I left it. At this point I was upset, I went to the front desk and advised the front desk clerk Jill about the situation, I inquired about getting a partial refund on the room rate however Jill was only able to provide me with Bonus points on my Marriott rewards account. A member of the house keeping staff was at the front desk at this time and handed me towels I requested for me to take back to the room along with a few bars of soap and some shampoo. I returned to the room with these items and placed our full trash cans out in the hall along with our...
Read moreStaying at this Marriott hotel made me realize that Marriott group is everything I hate about modern greedy companies, corporate bureaucracies that will never take responsibility, and terrible leadership. Never staying at a Marriott group affiliated hotel again.
Stayed here for 1 night. Immediately, after walking in my room I realized it smelled like dogs and I had an allergic reaction. Kindly, the staff let me know that they're a 100% dog friendly hotel. They put me in another room that hadn't had dogs in it for a while. My skin burned all night, woke up sick with a sinus infection. I would have left the hotel earlier, but was traveling with my elderly mother.
When people are allergic, we're allergic to the protein animals produce. Not hair. The protein gets on the walls, bed, AC unit, curtain's, ceiling. You can't clean it out. So you have to keep some rooms animal free. I thought this was common sense especially at a corporate level where they have access to lawyers and medical doctors.
I emailed corporate, and a outsourced/contracted overseas call center replied. Asking for my information to fix the problem. They already had my name, phone number, and hotel/location. A competent department could access the information. Especially since I'm in their rewards system through AMEX Platinum and it's literally their proprietary system. This is a corporate strategy to stop complaints by adding extra steps.
I researched their corporate board and leadership. Not a single person is not a piece of bureaucratic trash. Especially the CEO. Canceling all my Marriott group memberships and I encourage anyone reading this to do the same. And never stay at one of their hotels again. This kind of corporate greed and culture means they're selling everything about you. From your location, Wi-Fi browsing, to your activity...
