We recently had the pleasure of staying at this property and can't recommend it enough. As someone who has worked in hospitality, my standards are high but so is my level of appreciation when I have a good experience a receive a fantastic value for the money.
The lobby is clean, spacious and modern. At the front desk, Nova was checking in other guests and took great care to explain helpful details like the breakfast room, pool, exercise room, laundry room and their respective hours. I was checked in efficiently. Having listened to the previous guest's "orientation" I thought I might get a shorter version but I did not. Nova reviewed the same information with me and also provided a great restaurant recommendation too - so warm, patient and professional!
Our room was planfully designed, with attention to even the smallest details, like having a bench by the entry door, for putting on shoes. There's a iron, microwave, Keurig, and mini-fridge (there was someone's forgotten Chinese in that - the only housekeeping imperfection), etc...There is a barn door to the bathroom, which minimizes the noise you might hear of doors opening and closing in your room or that from the neighbors The door should be adjusted another 3/4" so it closes fully for privacy, but since it was just myself and my SO, it was not a problem. I loved the backlit mirror, cozy chair and handy side table. The mattresses were very firm but not hard. Bedding was pristine and not scratchy. I think there was only one type of pillow and they weren't my preference but someone else might love them. That being said, the room was so peaceful, and we were so tired from getting no sleep the previous night at a different, noisy hotel (bad room location at that one) that we overslept and missed breakfast! I bet it is great too though. Finally, we were on the third floor and a bonus is that the hotel location is set back from the busy main road and you are afforded a little peek/view of the lake! Fun surprise! Great...
Read moreJust in making the reservation, I was impressed with this new hotel's staff. Claire (sp?) was friendly, helpful and helped to secure the right accommodations. In fact, the entire staff could be used as an example of a well run hotel. From offering insight on local grocery stores to recommending nearby dining, (that wasn't too spicy) I was made to feel that my business mattered.
Being how this is a new hotel, and I'm a neat freak, the hotel smelled new, looked new and was spotless. In addition to a great staff, like Claire, I appreciated dimmers for the lights in the room (There should be a law that all hotels have dimmers) and great smelling citrus bath products!
The only noteworthy comments I can offer are... remember, this is a wood constructed hotel, and when someone is above you, you'll hear them if they are dancing a jig... street noise on the east side is considerable early morning, as there must be a muffler shortage, so book the rooms, that overlook the parking lot for a quieter experience. Water people should note that while the pool area is beautiful and clean, and the water was warm, there is not a jacuzzi for old bones.
Above all, this was (after a horrible stay in Iowa last week) the best hotel experience I have had in many years! I felt appreciated, and welcomed and... that they truly would love to have me back the next time through. Kudos to the GM...
Read moreWe first stayed two nights and enjoyed the hotel for those nights. Our suite had a bathtub which is always a plus when you have kids. The kids enjoyed the breakfast. The bathroom doors are strange - I've never seen a sliding barn style door that doesn't lock on a hotel bathroom. The hotel is also dog friendly, but there is little to no grassy area for them to use that doesn't leave them balancing on top of a giant grassy hill. We ended up needing to check back in for a third night due to a family member being admitted to the hospital, and we felt the price was high for that room. It was not a suite (so no sleeper sofa, and it also didn't have a bathtub...) and was still more expensive that the other nights. Finally, after a long day at the hospital, we realized the large size shampoo container was completely empty. Didn't have the energy to go ask for a refill on a product we didn't even use.
Finally, there was a group of grown men getting rowdy/drinking in the pool area. The next day, my kids went for a swim and there were towels sunk on the bottom of the pool and a trail of food left nearby. They were swearing up a storm and didn't feel the need to tone it down around families.
Overall, it was decent but I don't think we...
