The Good: The pool and hot tub were fabulous. Okay, the pool has peeling paint and for some odd reason getting towels was a massive chore, but the temperature of the pool was fantastic and it was reasonably clean. As the pool/hot tub is literally the most important part of any hotel stay for me, this was key to getting that 5 rating. Also, the people working were very nice and helpful. A huge plus.
The Bad: The room was dirty and not well maintained. When I say this, I really mean it. Cobwebs, sus spots on the carpet, actual mud on the chair, windows you can barely see through, the safety lock on the door was broken, the bathroom door had nails sticking out of it, it smelled of stale cigarette smoke, the knob for the heating element in the bathroom was found behind the toilet, the alarm clock was found on the floor behind the dresser, all of the furniture had gouges taken out of it, the back was missing on the remote, ... I could go on, but I feel like I made my point. Breakfast was awful. The biscuits were hard as a rock, the English muffins were stale, the regular waffle stuff's handle was broken so there was only blueberry, they ran out of cups and butter, the "hot" water was lukewarm, the tables were dirty, the only bagels available were onion (GROSS), and there weren't any muffins or danishes. They overly reuse keycards. We had to get our room key replaced FIVE times in two days because they wouldn't work. The cards are all scratched up. Not necessarily their fault, but the whole vibe of the place was off. When we pulled up, there were people smoking blunts in the first parking spot by the door. Like, not a big deal, but it just doesn't instill confidence. We drove around to the back to park and there was a guy sitting on the base of a light smoking and drinking. There were piles of beer cans surrounding him. Again, whatever, but if you're trying to look like a nice place, that isn't it. Also not a good look was the detritus on the porch outside of the pool area. It looked like someone had a big party and forgot to clean up. There were cooking supplies and food and all sorts of stuff. Also, the light was flickering, which just seemed kind of creepy. The bathroom in the pool area has probably never been cleaned. There is dried pee all over the seat. Okay, and here's the BIGGEST thing. There is a serious security problem. When we went to get the new key cards, they never asked for any identifying information. It was a person we'd never seen before and we asked for a key to the room because our key wasn't working. They just gave it to us. Didn't ask for a name or anything. That happened three times. The other two times, it is possible that the woman recognized us, but...
Overall: I would probably stay there again, because the pool was great. But I would never, ever...
Read moreMy spouse and I took a random overnight trip to Marshall to explore the area and spent a Friday night in September 2020 at this Quality Inn. Prior to the trip, I'd kind of wanted to stay at this specific hotel because of its location off the highway.||||We arrived at just about the official check-in time of 3 p.m. on Friday, but unfortunately our room wasn't ready yet. (Our hope was to get settled in at the hotel before going out and exploring the town, but that wasn't possible due to the room not being ready.) We went off and did a few things around town and then came back at around 5:30 p.m. to check in. Fortunately, our room was ready then, but we were told that the room had been ready about 5 minutes after we left around 3. Because of how only 5 minutes had passed, I couldn't help but wonder whether someone at the front desk could have given me a call to let me know... since they had my phone number as part of the reservation.||||Anyway, our room (#231) was clean and comfortable. It had kind of a strange smell but it wasn't a problem. We slept very well that night, which was really nice.||||This hotel does have a couple of amenities that would have been nice to use. The indoor pool and hot tub were still closed due to the pandemic, and the business center computer in the lobby wasn't working very well when I was trying to use it to surf the Internet and check my social media. Breakfast wasn't available, so we grabbed breakfast elsewhere and brought it back to the hotel to eat on Saturday morning.||||I wouldn't mind staying at this hotel again in the future on another overnight visit to the area... perhaps after the pandemic is over. Despite the inconvenience of not being able to check in at 3:00, the staff at the hotel were friendly overall. I just can't justify giving the property higher than a 3-star rating. (If it were possible for me to give it 3.5 stars on TripAdvisor due to the general cleanliness of the room and the fact that we got a good night's sleep, I would. The rate was reasonable too, so...
Read moreWe have stayed at this location over the years for many years. We haven't been back for a while but it seems that the ownership may have changed. The quality at this Quality Inn is very bad. When checking in there were lots of problems. System was down, room they gave us was booked by someone else but they gave it to us anyways. Many things were unavailable, broken, not cleaned, and in disrepair. There was mildew in the tub drain and the shower valve was stuck in the up position. The lamp cover was cracked and the bathroom hook missing a screw and barely holding on. Also I booked a room for 4 people and was only given 2 towels. When we asked for more towels we were told to bring back the 2 dirty towels in order to get more. After begging & pleading for more they finally gave us 2 additional but when those were dirty we had to do another exchange ourselves for towels. After returning to the room we realized one of the towels was see through and threadbare. When asked for an additional blanket we were told there were no more available. In addition, the pillows were old, lumpy, and cheap. My husband witnessed another couple at the front desk complaining that the day before there were only 2 yogurts out during breakfast and this day there were none. The front desk reached into a refrigerator behind the counter and give them one yogurt and said "Sorry, these are limited". There was a construction crew staying there and multiple trucks were parked across the back lot parking spaces which took up the whole parking lot. Then the construction crew, who were drinking beers in the parking lot, got into a screaming match with someone in a room and they were screaming obscenities at each other while my husband, kids, and I were trying to return to the hotel at night. Our key cards were old and reused and did not work, even after going to the front desk repeatedly to get it fixed. We will not be returning to this...
