A one star rating would have meant that I decided it would've been better to sleep in my car and the decision NOT to came down to a coin toss (and the others in my party saying that it was only one night; it'll be alright).
First off, the pictures on Expedia did not represent the motel. I thought I was booking rooms in a motel that had interior corridors; turns out this is the old walk in off the sidewalk variety motel. When we arrived I kept thinking that we were at the wrong place. And the place looked deserted, there were are only two cars in the lot.
I had booked two non-smoking rooms. The first room we walked into smelled like someone had just finished shampooing their pets and there was a faint smell of cigarette smoke. The second room smelled as if it had been fumigated with cigarette smoke.
Because I had booked through Expedia (cautionary tale here folks) the desk clerk said that she was unable to change our rooms. I had to call Expedia and get them to cancel my reservations and rebook us new rooms. The folks at Expedia did so with little problem and the desk clerk was able to change our rooms.
I'm not done.
We got into our rooms and noticed the furniture looked as if it barely survived a fire. We were unable to completely close the curtains to a room which just happen to have the brightest light next to a supernova shining in it. Fortunately, the AC was the bright spot in the room but it did circulate the latent cigarette smoke that must be a party of every room. We found that every outlet in the room was defective; you plug something in and it would just fall out the socket.
Needless to say. One time visit. If I ever travel alone I will sleep in my car rather than this place again.
Oh. In the heat of summer the pool was...
Read moreI stayed at the Days Inn like I always do when I visit Metter, but this time I was there for a funeral and decided to book an additional room for guests coming into town. When my guests arrived, my husband went to the front desk to get the key for their room. Grant it my husband and I have stayed at this hotel at least 10 times in the past year not to mention the number of times over the past 10 years, but the manager gave my husband a hard time about giving him the key to the other room because he had not booked the hotel room, and said it was against the law to give a key to someone whose name was not on the credit card. I did my best to educate her on the difference between a law, a company policy, and a business best practice, which if it was the law or policy, she broke it because she gave him the key. And I shouldn’t even have to mention the fire alarm that went off three (3) times, or the very loud workers on the same side as our rooms. The manager met me with the fact that, “they cannot do anything about a fire alarm going off”, no I am sorry that happened and we are working on, but instead met me with attitude as if the problems at the hotel were mine. This Days Inn is WAY past its prime, it needs renovation and updating at the very least and the manager needs an attitude check, but I can control my own narrative by simply driving 20 minutes further to Statesboro which is what I’ve done since that last October stay at...
Read moreMy family traveled to Metter to visit with my brother who is stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia. Although it was stated that there would be a microwave and refrigerator in the rooms, there were not. The clerk stated that only some rooms had them and being that every room was booked for the weekend, there was no way of moving to another location. On top of that, we were told that we could utilize the microwave in the lobby if need be. No one wants to go in their pajamas at 2am to heat up a plate of food. With my brother living about 40 minutes from where we stayed, we were banking on having a refrigerator and microwave. Secondly, as an establishment who prides themselves on safety, every bathroom should have a mat in the tub. My father slipped and hit the side of his ribs on the porcelain. The remnants of what was thought was a mat was actually just a dirt line of where a mat used to be. We arrived on Friday afternoon to no one aside a lone truck in the front of the building. Unless people walked in from the road to stay, the hotel was never completely filled. If you tell someone you have a microwave and refrigerator, then there should be one in every room and not just the lobby. We will never stay at this location again. Although everyone was cordial enough, it is ridiculous to pay so much money and there isn't any amenities that comply with our needs. Better luck to the other poor souls who decide...
