Waffle House — Restaurant in Metter

My new fave Waffle House! We were on our Sunday morning return to home during the wee hours when the rest of the world was wrapping up Saturday night.

QUICK RESPONSE -When we walked in all the tables were dirty, and the waiter greeted us explaining they had been swamped but quickly grabbed a rag and thoroughly wiped down a booth for us.

GF-GLUTEN FREE -I ordered deluxe chicken sandwich with cheese. Hold the bun because I am Gluten Free. I’ve ordered this numerous times the last two years (tho normally with hash browns) at a wide variety of Waffle Houses and this time was absolute perfection… Cook Johnathon magnificently crisped the bacon, sautéd the onions, and seared the chicken, all without special request by me.

It was served with generous portions of lettuce and tomato … much appreciated with the bunless sandwich. Not sure if cook or server was responsible for that but I know that waiter Daniel topped it off with steak knife which made bunless eating so much smoother than my previous experiences.

CLEAN- He also had every table cleared and wiped down before the next customer stepped in.

LGBTQ - Added pluses that made me smile were frequent coffee refills, observant reminder that we had left unused fiber packets when we got up, and the bathrooms are non-gendered making it comfortable also for the LGBTQ+ community.

YES- Now I can see why they were swamped before we walked in. I’m looking forward to more trips past/through Metter. Winning team! ...

While I was on a vacation I drove through Metter pulling a camper looking for a place to eat that wasn't to busy what I mean by not busy that had plenty of empty spaces to park. I did locate a parking lot like I just explained. I pulled up and helped my handycap wife from the vehicle looking inside the restaurant while walking towards the front door I could see empty table's and what looked like one waitress eating. I had just said to my wife that we was getting this to go so that we could get back on the road. A man that works there met us at the door ask for us to move. Of course there was no where to move on the property. We left with no food and drove down the street to DQ where they had no problems with me parking and got friendly service good food and got back on the road in a quick manner. I come through this area about three times a year and would never stop at Waffle House again ...

This visit was unexpected for us not wanting another fast food experience on our trip so I suppose our expectations were somewhat high. We walked into an over crowded under staffed establishment that automatically dropped said standards to a realistic point. After waiting a short time we saw ourselves to a empty yet not cleaned booth. Within 5 minutes we were met by our server that chatted while hastily whipping the table. She then placed only the sales mat in front of us asked our drink orderes and walked away. It was at least 10 minutes before she returns no drinks in hand and the experience only went down hill from there to include misplacing out check and double charging us for items not even purchased. The food itself was sub par with undercooked pork chops and obviously expired salad. All in all we will stick with fast food from now on because at least we get what we...
