Some background I worked retail about ten years in high school, through and out of college so the last thing I like is giving a place a bad review. Hell a 5 star is usually automatic because the workers get bonuses usually on good customer surveys so for me to leave a bad one I had to be really impressed, it had to be memorable. This time they get two stars because we come here a lot and the owner is super nice, and does a lot for the conventions, otherwise this woulda been one or no stars.

Tried picking up the fortnite special on a Tuesday since DC comics made it available and -spoilers we easily found it elsewhere- but wow the guy behind the counter is the worst, just kept repeating "comics release Wednesday, comics release Wednesday!" Like dude if I wanna work with a machine I'll go online, I love comic shops, I wanna talk to a person, not whatever the hell this interaction was.

I get that DC ships on Tuesdays now and traditionally comics drop on Wednesday but I basically got yelled at, then he was rude as hell to two calls he got about the same thing as I waited to see if they expected to have a good amount Wednesday so I just left.

Buddy it's not our fault you're fed up with DC or don't like a specific comic someone asked about. This place is normally fine but this guy sucked and was terrible. Alternative Universe is easily the best comic book store. Both the Milford and New Haven locations are hands down top notch. I've been collecting comic books for 36 years and have hit every store since then. I always go back to them. A lot of other places I would go to would be sold out of what I wanted, so I would go to Alternative Universe and they would always have what I was looking for.Multiple copies and variant covers. The New Haven store is smaller, but has everything. Including more adult oriented books and stuff off the beaten path. Milford is bigger and a little bit more family friendly. Not that New Haven isn't. So pick one. It depends on what you're looking for and interested in. You can't go wrong either way.Eric,Joe and Rich are the best. My husband and I stopped in here on a whim while in town for a wedding. We collect comics, so we try to visit shops when we are traveling. This shop was definitely a well cared for store. I can tell the owner takes collecting seriously and takes into consideration the condition of the books and merchandise. And it's nice when the comics are in actual alphabetical order. We would have spent so much more time there if we could have. And the guy working even offered me a chair when I was waiting on my husband to finish his search which was very kind.
