Had an enjoyable stay at the Comfort Inn Presque Isle. If you are an average traveler looking for a comfortable and clean place to rest your head you will be overly impressed. If you are someone who regularly stays at high-end hotels you will be sorely disappointed, but find a stellar hotel for the price you pay and at a prime location right near the beach; you could probably walk there if you wanted.
The room I received was equipped with a Queen bed, armoire, luggage rack, desk, chair, armchair and ottoman, coffee maker, hairdryer, 3 drawer cabinet, tv, and 2 end tables. I will say the layout was very strange. but it may have been because I was put in a handicap-accessible room. Also, unlike some hotels, this one didn't smell when you entered the room. No heavy fake chemical smells masking other odors, just a pleasant fresh laundry smell. This is a non-smoking hotel so no cigarette smoke smells either.
I was disgusted by the "runner" that was placed on the comforter. It was badly stained, soaked with [you know]. Needs to be burned. I tossed it on the floor in the corner and then washed my hands for like 20 minutes. Made me weary of the room but everything else was very clean. Every surface had been dusted, no cobwebs, and it was very clean.
On the first night of my stay I was taking a shower when I heard a man at the door, I checked with the front desk before opening, and the maintenance guy came in and concluded the shower curtain was leaking to the floor below me. I continued my shower anyway after sealing up the gaps and put some more towels on the floor. The water pressure was just decent, but I appreciated that the water was hot.
The breakfast was worth the whole stay. I went to Bob Evan's and I was disappointed because the free hotel breakfast I had the next day was much better. There's pretty much any breakfast food you can think of: coffee, tea, milk, hot chocolate, juice, cereal, breads, danish, waffles, sausage, and my favorite was the cheese omelets. People were very friendly and talking among each other. It was really cool.
The A/C unit in the room was very cold. It was nice during the day but at night it was freezing. The heat would not turn on. I just unplugged the unit from the wall as I couldn't get the "OFF" button to actually turn it off.
Channel selection was nice but the TV itself was garbage. It was one of those ones where the aspect ratio wasn't right so a possibly 24" TV was cut down to like 18".
Also, there weren't any outlets open to use. I had to unplug a lamp so I could charge my phone. Need to add more of those. This is 2016 and everyone travels with gadgets nowadays.
There was a heated outdoor pool. I did not go into but my room window overlooked the pool and people seemed to be having fun. I couldn't look out my window else I felt like a bit of a creeper. It is open from 9AM - 9PM which again is very stingy. There's never a lifeguard on duty anyway so it should be more open.
Also, the check-in/check-out times were very stingy. Check-in was at 4PM and check-out was at 11AM. The breakfast was only served 6AM - 10AM so it makes it very difficult to enjoy your morning if you don't wake up at the crack of dawn.
Overall, I only really listed the negatives because everything else was very positive. Super clean, some amenities I was not expecting , and so close to everything. Could literally walk to the beach if I was so inclined....
Read moreThe location is close to the state park and the rooms have been nicely redone. Arrived early and room was not ready so we went on an adventure and returned four hours later (an hour later than they suggested) and room was still not ready. At that time there were 4 or 5 others waiting for rooms; however someone without reservations walked up and got a room immediately. When I asked front desk rep how that worked she stated she had no idea how they regulate that. Thankfully another front desk rep took quick action and began going personally to each room assigned to those waiting to determine if they were clean and ready. She found they were- housekeeping was just behind in updating computer system to release the rooms. We were in room 128- there is a employee service door that leads to a small enclave right next you this rooms window. The employees use this as a smoking area and the smell comes right in thru the HVAC system. Would recommend not being on ground floor due to traffic to breakfast area- kids running wild and screaming on the small ramp. Breakfast is pretty good, they just need more assistance keeping the tables cleared and clean. Overall the hotel is "just okay". Quick in and out...
Read moreI made reservations at least a month in advance & specifically asked for a room with a fridge & microwave as we would have a 15 month with us. We arrived at 2 and were told our room wouldn't be ready till 4 but were free to use the pool. We were checked in at 4:30 & unloaded the car to then find that the room had neither a fridge or microwave. I immediately went to the front desk & they told me that they were sorry but they were full and couldn't do anything about it. They offered to put our things in their refrigerator but seriously who wants to go down to the front desk every time you want a drink or any other food that you brought. Additionally, the ice machines on all 3 floors were empty and nonfunctioning 90% of the 4 days we stayed. They suggested we go to the nearest convenient store to purchase some. Also, the one afternoon we were getting out of the pool and the pool towel bin was empty we called the front desk to let them know and ask for more and were told they were out. We have stayed at this hotel the past 4 summers and have not previously had any of these issues that we have this year. Quite a...
