New York Lunch Peninsula Drive — Restaurant in Millcreek Township

Terrible service. I'm reminded why I stopped getting their food years ago. To explain, I called ahead to place a larger order. They told me it would be done at a specific time, no problem, no wait. I explain that I have an elderly man coming from the hospital that really wanted to enjoy some of their food and express that we need to move through quickly to get him home and out of the humidity. I get to the restaurant and pull up to the window only to be ignored for 10-15 minutes before the guy will even acknowledge me. I finally get him to come to the window, while I sit there money in hand, and tell him the name. He takes my money and doesn't even have the courtesy to say hello, apologize for the unreasonable delay, or anything a professional would do. Then he continues to help other customers and ignore us. Our food was supposed to be ready and waiting 10 minutes before we pulled in. We had to wait another 35 minutes to get our food plus rude service. Stopped in about a month ago and the service and food was absolutely terrible and the order was wrong. Decided to give it another shot because I like to support local business, and that was a huge mistake. Upon getting our food we were told they added a Greek fry to our order because they made it wrong when all we wanted was plain fries, we we're thankful and we're going to give the Greek fries to my brother because we don't like Greek sauce. Well get home to find out that our "cheese burgers" and "cheese dogs" that we ordered were loaded in Greek sauce (after we said NO Greek sauce only cheese!). Called and was told it was our fault we got it because we didn't specify and that everything they serve comes with Greek sauce and that they were not going to remake our food, but next time we come in it's on the house. OK. This one is.a matter of taste, and, a guilty pleasure. It’s a unique Erie offering. No other restaurant or food stand offers this cuisine outside of Erie as far as anyone here has been able to find - Greek dogs and fries. Sure there are chili dogs everywhere, but this local version is special. There are several establishments that offer them in town, but our favorite is here at New York Lunch on Peninsula Drive. The guys are great and the food is fast. (You wouldn’t know by looking, but the Health Dept. says it’s one of the cleanest operation in the county.). If you want great Greek dogs, and a step back in time with the authentic atmosphere, go to The Original New York Lunch on East Ave., or Red Hots on Parade St. They are straight out of the 40’s and 50’s.
