I was there for a conference in May. When making room reservations we ( my supervisor and I)were asked if we wanted a pool side room as it was same amount of money (state rates). We said yes. Upon check in we were told there was none available an if we wanted to change rooms tomorrow there would be one available. we were told by the front desk staff that we could come the next morning to request a pool side room. We decided not to change rooms at that point, till we got to our room. it was very old, hardly no outlets, air conditioner didn't work, and when you opened curtain, there was part of a brick building and a dumpster there not the best view. We had walked through motel around 10 pm and saw 4 vacant pool side rooms. the next morning we went to request a new room as directed by the staff the day before, and we were told to come back in an hour as none were clean yet. I walked by the pool yet again and the same vacant rooms that I saw the night before were still unoccupied. Again went to front desk and again was told to come back in an hour. 4 times total from 8 Am to 1 Pm that I was told to come back. the last time I went to front desk and asked lady said there is still none clean. I said really? after 4 or 5 hours and I was promised one upon check in yesterday and have walked by 4 empty rooms and we cant get in a room yet. lady said we are short staffed, I said that's not my problem when I was promised one prior. lady said excuse me and walked away (around corner) where I over heard a lady say (assuming manager or upper management) say just give them one already. On the up side after finally getting to a different room. It was much nicer to bad the hassle to get there was so...

We booked a poolside room at the International Inn for our daughters 1st birthday party. When we arrived to check in they informed us that there were 7 other birthday parties going on. Which would have been nice to know when we booked our room that it was going to be that busy. They had no tables set up for us to use so we had to pull together a couple small tables at which they gave us grief about.. We had I would say about 15 people coming to the party and they would only give us 5 wrist bands for us to use at the pool anything over that it was 10$ which we paid. During the party our little girl had a smash cake ... We made sure we put plastic under her highchair to ensure cake wouldn't get all over everything.. After cake I used a wash cloth and hand towel to clean her up because she had frosting all over her face and arms. After the party as we live in Minot we went home we did not even spend the night there. Come Monday morning I noticed I had an extra $250.00 charged to my card so I called to ask them what this charge was for and was told I had ruined 2 of their towels with pink hair dye. After telling them it was only cake frosting not dye they told me I signed a form that stated any damages to the room I would pay a $250 fee.. I understand that if i did in fact ruin their towels I would certainly pay to replace them but $250.00 is outrageous for 2 small towels... I will never be staying there in the future and I hope some people read this and decide elsewhere to have their children's...

I booked our stay a day later than what we were supposed to check in.. Thankfully, they were able to accommodate us and get us in a room for the weekend, considering, we just drove from Wisconsin, 11.5 hours. Thankful for that. The lady who checked us in was very nice. She was still new, still trying to get familiar with everything, no one was willing to help her. She did ask a lady in the back to help her, who was rude, and made snide comments as she walked away. The lady checking us in, did in fact, figure it out in her own. Room was very decent sized. Very impressed in that aspect... No one could direct us where to go to get to our room. We took 3 elevator rides before we eventually figured out where we were.. No help, at all. This place is huge, no one could help direct us where to go? Really? Got to the pool, only ONE towel left... Does anyone keep up on the towels????? Pool closes @10 pm Mondays - Thursdays. We checked in Thursday night, was down by the pool, visiting with family, many other guests were at tables visiting too, after pool hours. Security comes to us, (four adults, 2 kids) asked us, "Do you know what time the pool closes? Proceeded to tell us they got" noise complaints" and we were to go back to our room. While a table of 8+ adults, who were the loudest of the pool room, proceeded to sit down there hours after we were told to leave...... Really?..

Not impressed with this...

My friend booked a room and held her child's birthday party poolside at the Grand. The pool area was packed as there were numerous other parties going on. In my opinion, it was too many as every party was crammed next to each other. Neither the sink or the bathtub would drain. But overall, the party went well and everyone left happy. A few days later, my friend informed me that she was charged $250 for ruined towels. She contacted the hotel but they were not willing to budge on the fee. I made contact with them as well since I referred her there. I was sent a picture of TWO towels that were pink from cake frosting (I have included the picture). I was told that they needed to order an entire box of towels to replenish their inventory. So she was hit with the bill for an entire box of towels when she was responsible for two of them. First, at this point, I believe she owns that box of towels minus the two that were ruined. Second, is this not expected as a form of doing business? So people beware....if you spill anything on a towel, you have a high chance of incurring a $250 fee. In the end, they did refund $125 back to her but it took several emails and phone calls over a period of a week to dispute this. Very poor business on The Grand's part. I am very disappointed in this situation and think they totally took advantage of a guest. Please give your business to an honest company.

The only reason this isn’t a 5 star is because a few things could be in better repair. There’s some broken rusty things around the pool that I had to be cautions of with my kids. The rocks around the pool are uncomfortably rough, and there’s a lot of chipping/peeling paint around the facility. On the plus side, this is the only place I’ve ever stayed that has double KING bed rooms and I love that for our family. Plenty of bed to stretch out on. The beds are memory foam and comfortable and no signs of bed bugs. The service at the front desk and the lounge are fantastic! Heather in the lounge is just wonderful! We enjoyed the pool and the hot tub so much! My kids love this place!

The rooms were nice, the staff was nice, two on-site options for dining. A bar, and a family friendly restaurant. No continental breakfast, ( should be for the price) The parking lot can be confusing, but lots of rooms. It's a busy place, hosts lots of events and has at least 3 ball/ conference rooms. A lot of rooms look out into the center, where there is an indoor pool. Nice pool, and hot tubs w/ deck area. Rooms that are pool level like mine are noisy. And be warned, the glass doors aren't mirrored or tinted. Sorry folks who were walking by as I got out of the shower. Next time I would ask for a room away from the pool, unless I'm there w/ the intent to swim.
