I’ve stayed here before about 4 years ago which is why I came back. Recognized one of the front desk staff, very friendly and welcoming. The property seems about the same. It is clean and mostly well kept, plenty of parking, adjacent to restaurants, drug store. This time I stayed in a queen suite with my sister who uses a C-Pap (pac?) unit with portable oxygen. As an older traveler, I often ask for handicapped rooms but I didn’t this time. I should have as the doors are heavy and luggage get heavier every year! Our room was large but we had to move furniture around to accommodate our luggage and oxygen unit. Because??? Well the electrical outlets near the beds would not hold our electric plugs and charger plugs secure. The plugs basically were loose because the wall plugs holes were too large. I had to wedge the clock on the bedtable under my charger cord to keep a current. For sister’s oxygen cord on the other wall by the lamp, we moved the ottoman under the wall socket to hold the electric cord in tight. (Does this make sense?) Also moved the wonderful second table under the desk out by my bed and opened my luggage on top. Opened the other luggage on the bench. (No luggage holders or racks in the closet.) It is cumbersome for older people to bend down on the floor to retrieve items from luggage. Yes, could use the bed but not enough room to leave luggage open. This is a problem for older travelers and people with bad backs. ||Bedding was clean, fresh, comfy, with both soft and firm pillows. ||Bathroom was clean with plenty of towels — but there is only one hook on the back of the door. The hairdryer was hanging there. A low shelf and a wall shelf is availabe to place toiletries. No shower cap. Decent lighting. ||Toilet was ok but how I wish all hotels would install adult (higher) commodes! Many hotels have made this move. Also many hotels have installed two piece or detachable shower heads — not this hotel! Women prefer this type of shower so I keep harping on it. Shower pressure was on the weak side. Many, especially men, prefer strong shower pressure. ||Sofa was hard and had a stain on it. Needs replacing. Nice lamps. Nice Keurig coffee pot. Frig and microwave, thank you. Also thank you for luggage mobiles. TV was fine. Worked. Offered captions. Thank you.||Breakfast was great! Plenty of choices. Hot coffee. Warm cinnamon rolls. Eggs were not watery. Both turkey and pork sausages were offered as well as sausage gravy and bisquits. Standard instant grits, oatmeal, toaster items. Kept replenished by friendly staff. Very nice. ||Will I stay here again? Sure. But hope they update the rooms. Replace some of the electrical outlets by the beds. Could update to charger recepticals . Us who use cell phones and iPads will love you more. Also when you update bathrooms, install higher commodes and detachable shower heads/wands. ||PS: thank you for honoring my request for a room close to the elevator and ice. It wasn’t loud and made it easier for us...
Read moreIf you're looking for a hotel that will make you question your faith in humanity, look no further than Holiday Inn Express Monroe NC. My experience trying to book a room block for my wedding was nothing short of infuriating. Let me break down this nightmare for you:
1 The Silent Treatment: I reached out about a room block and was told to email the sales manager, B. One week passed. Nothing. Two weeks. Crickets. This silent treatment lasted for THREE WHOLE MONTHS.
2 The Phantom Manager: I called FOUR TIMES over two months, leaving my contact info (phone number and email ) each time. You'd think I was trying to reach the dead for all the response I got.
3 Customer Service Runaround: When I finally contacted customer service, they had the audacity to tell me the sales manager would reach out "when the time is appropriate." Apparently, three months isn't appropriate enough.
4 The Attitude-Filled Callback: When B finally called, it wasn't to help. Oh no, it was to argue and attitude. He informed me rooms were full at "premium pricing" and berated me for daring to contact customer service.
5 The Blacklist: As if this wasn't enough, they put me on a "Do Not Rent" list. That's right, they punished ME for their incompetence.
6 Corporate Silence: I've reached out to corporate and higher management. Surprise, surprise - I'm still waiting for a response.
The sales manager's behavior reeks of spite and malice. This isn't just bad service; it's a deliberate attack on customers. It's clear that Holiday Inn Express Monroe NC sees wedding planners as annoying insects to be swatted away rather than valued customers. This conflict could have been resolved if the manger would have followed up with me, instead of having me on stand by for three months.
Don't even think about joining their rewards program. If this is how they treat potential customers, I shudder to think how they treat their "valued" members.
In conclusion, if you enjoy being ignored, belittled, and then blacklisted, by all means, try to book with Holiday Inn Express Monroe NC. For everyone else with a shred of self-respect, run far, far away. You'd get better customer service from...
Read moreI have been staying in the hotel all summer due to business in the area. I check out of the hotel on weekends and holidays, then return the next business days. I checked out of the hotel on 7/3, I returned to the hotel for my next stay on the following Monday. During my break from the hotel, I realized I had left my lap top charger and HDMI cable in the hotel room. I decided I would ask the front desk during my next stay. Throughout my stay at the hotel, I have been put into only hearing disabled rooms. I am not hearing disabled. So I assume, the hotel does not put many people in these rooms. when checking in for my next stay on Monday, I realized they had booked the same room as the previous week when I had left my items. I checked the room to make sure my things were not still in there. After thoroughly looking in the room, I went down to the front desk and informed the woman working at that time. She did not seem concerned that I was missing items that were vital to my work. She simply checked the lost and found book and said the items and room number were not listed so they could not possibly be in the lost and found location. I was not happy with her answer and the way she handled the situation, so when I was checking out of that week's stay for the weekend, I asked the man at check out. He checked the book again, although, he did a more thorough check. He also said the items and room number were not listed. He did not check to location either. He did say he would speak to housekeeping though. I came back the following Monday for my next stay. This is over two full weeks since my items went missing. I was not given any more information about my items at check in. So I can only assume that housekeeping took my items or my items were not logged correctly and the staff at this hotel would not even look to see if this was the case.
I am not happy with the lost and found policy of this hotel.
I am also not happy about being put into a handicapped room when I am not handicapped.
I will also be posting this review on Google for potential...
