Heard great things due my husband working for a Health insurance called Centenne here in Charlotte lots of coworkers mentioned this facility and Veteran friends. Had to pay a late fee due supposedly non sufficient funds which was incorrect. When I paid the remaining amount plus the late fee which they wouldn’t wave, out of courtesy due some of their employees stating wrong information regards billing then bill to a later date anyways but mark on the blue card when next due of payment is is just confusing and who pays for that mistake of miss information on the end of day ? us Members! Usually you get informed or notified of any changes of the facility is it pool updates or changes , daycare or even payment issues which is a great reminder but which I wasn’t aware of and would might have been the root to the solution. I never received a notification that there’s non sufficient funds via text message or I would have been on my way to fix that immediately but I did receive that „notification“ today after via text at the same time Ive paid the open amount they couldn’t charge previously for whatever reason. And the message clearly said that I had no funds available which is off because at the same time I received my mobile bank notification stating that there’s been a successful withdraw made out of my account. . Why these messages never been send before hand when there was supposedly no funds available or sent when it’s clearly incorrect. Is it a system error I don’t know was it send so it been sent i don’t know. This is just unsettling and misleading. I should have showed that to the front desk having proof that this doesn’t make sense and that the late fee was unjustified. So I canceled my membership for our family because this wasn’t a welcome to me into this community that’s honestly disappointing and no one wants to deal with that esp being a fresh member I don’t begin any relationship like that. This facility is all about health focus and relaxing this is just uncomfortable and I honestly don’t have the time and mind for that to always check if everything goes correct . No apologies been given no questions been asked no thank you’s nothing. Customer service looks different to me or maintaining a relationship with locals at this facility. The reason I decided to pay in person today was because the front desk lady was just being rude on the phone . I received a email about this issue this morning and called in immediately also wondering what’s been going on instead giving me further Instructions to go forward with the payment over the phone I been told if I do want to this payment now or not in a tone which was so uncalled for. I clearly called to make this payment. First I been told no payments are taken over the phone then I been told it’s possible to do so which I wanted to proceed with but not anymore because the way I was spoken to on the phone and to just avoid further issues and having nothing in writing. Ethan I been told that the person what can wave the fee usually never waves it so I wasn’t even given a chance or heard to begin with . Was i annoyed or rude on the phone with the front desk lady because of that or back and fourth or That I had to pay a late fee which was unjustified? No! I was still friendly with her even after all that. Manners and Professionalism plays a big role in this community. Also pools have always issues and are not always available. Workout machines are out dated this facility is to small for the amount of members visiting. Wouldn’t recommend we’ll be back with ymca they honor vets and discussed membership prices. We got our first month discounted here but not afterwards so the monthly rate changed without our knowledge too . All signs to let it go. Other then that water park is great for kids daycare looks cute and well take care of. It’s just some of the employees seeming like not wanting to be there or to be bothered. Some are exciting & polite . Still wishing anyone a great time there if they can have it and enjoy just a few things to...
Read moreThe overall experience was very good, but taking into consideration the precautions the facility is taking for Covid-19 moves this rating to excellent. When I signed up, the staff at the front were more than helpful in answering my questions, tellinge about all of the amenities offered, and what amenities were unavailable due to Covid precautions. They have a swimming pool which offers water aerobic and other classes, and swimming lanes. With the current precautions, you must reserve a lane, or reserve a time to use an area of the pool. Sadly the hot tub, dry sauna, and steam room are unavailable at the time being, I can say they are wonderful to use when open. This morning I arrived at 0600 to use the gym. I went to the locker room to store a bag in a locker, and they spaced out each open locker with 3 closed lockers between to mantain social distancing. The locker room is split in two, one side for adults only, and the other side for all ages. There are multiple showers including a handicap accessible shower.
The racket ball courts are open for use, but currently do not have equipment rental available, so you must provide your own. The basketball courts were closed due to social distancing, but the walking/running track above was open. In the gym itself, about half of the machines were taped off for Covid-19 restrictions. While half of the equipment is taped off, they seemed to have made sure to only close machines that had a duplicate to make sure you can get your full workout. Along with social distancing, they are required to run at a limited occupancy capacity. While working out, I did notice at least one gym employee walking around counting the number of people at that given time, I assume to keep in line with the governors mandate. The gym consists of a cardio area with treadmills, ellipticals, bike, recumbent bikes, rowing machines, and other various types of machines. There are a couple circuit training areas, mats, weight machines, and free weights. It is a well equipped facility, and I have rarely seen equipment out of order.
After my workout, I took advantage of my little reward: The smoothie bar. They can make you a protein smoothie, or just a regular smoothie. They also sell water, sports drinks, pre-workout, and recovery drinks as well.
The facility also offers an outdoor waterpark that looks amazing. Seeing as it is 30° outside, it is obviously closed. Outside in the adjacent parking lot in front of the Waterpark is a track painted on the asphalt giving you an outdoor running space, although it is a parking lot. There are other amenities available such as group classes, and massage therapy, but I am unsure of the availability of them with the current restrictions. Childcare is offered, but is currently unavailable due to covid, but is reviewed on a frequent basis, so that may change at any point in time.
I am overall very pleased with the facility. The Covid-19 restrictions do take away from the overall experience from an accessibility standpoint, but that is only temporary. This is a great place where you can meet your fitness goals, and maintain a...
Read moreThe aquatic center has started enforcing a dress code that has been specifically made to target the woman in the gym. It’s not just the way that these rules are worded, but also taking in to mind that when these rules suddenly appeared, they were only handing the little sheets of paper with said rules on them, to the women in the gym.
Reference to the picture of what I was wearing on May 20th. Slight stomach was out, but was told this was going against dress code.
I grew up at this gym, and have met some amazing people within this gym, but I have seen no improvements within the gym itself.
Multiple employees have told me themselves that they would rather the aquatic center focus on upgrading fitness equipment or maybe even worrying about their employees pay rates over dealing with some insane dress code.
Here’s a few others opinions/statements
• This seemingly being targeted directly towards woman is unsettling. And the wording behind some of these bullet points makes me uneasy. Seems like theres an underlying reason for publishing a set of rules worded this way. Very unprofessional and somewhere I would not take my business.
• I was there yesterday and I saw so many people not following the dress code. One girl had her shorts so tiny and up her butt I thought she could taste them and multiple SMALLER girls wearing bras but never addressed by a staff member! If you’re going to demand a dress code you need to address ALL members not just the curvier ones!! It’s hard enough to get confidence these days.
• Men shouldn’t be allowed to wear tight clothing or short biker shorts showing their “junk” and no spandex material allowed if this is specifically directed towards women. We see people dressed with a whole lot less out in public. If people are going to the gym to attract attention, they are there for the wrong reasons. Would you rather see them wearing huge baggy clothes that sag or could get caught in the machines? Workout clothes are made for movement and sweat absorption/dryness control. Some people just have more accentuated bodies than others. The workout area is for adults and they are not middle/high schoolers who don’t have control over their hormones. I can see how this will lead to MAC loosing members. Rather than posting a “dress code,” why not just handle it on an individual level if the need should arise? It creates less controversy.
• Members weren’t alerted of this dress code change, walking up to a paying customer mid workout and telling them they have to leave is not okay. Especially when it’s the active employees picking and choosing whos okay. I think the language in the dress code being directed at/for women is crazy. No wonder they didn’t want to send that change out to...
