I cannot say enough about this hotel in Mt. Vernon, IL. My experience with coworkers was extremely satisfying. We rented 4 rooms for one night. We arrived at 5:30pm and left the next morning. The enthusiasm and level of service from the staff was amazing. Two individuals stood out, yet I do not have their names. The gentleman that checked us in at 5:30pm on a Wed. was very helpful in explaining all the amenities, and was very personable. You could tell that this man really enjoyed his job and interacting with people. This is just something you don't see much of these days. What a great acquisition for that position. Bravo, Drury Inn! We checked in very quickly, and took one of two very fast elevators up to our rooms on the 3rd floor. The elevators were very quick and clean. The room I had was in the very corner of the hotel and very quiet. Everything about this room was very clean and brand new. This was probably the nicest hotel room I've every stayed in. Bed and furniture were very comfortable. Room had a TV, microwave, and small fridge. The bathroom was immaculate. I then met my coworkers downstairs in the lounge where there was a ton of free food and 3 cocktails (beer, wine, or spirits). There was also a soda fountain with lots of choices. These freebies were available until 7pm, and we had another visit at about 6:50 from the man I mentioned at the front desk reminding us that things would be closing up, but that we could still hang out there all night long! Pro tip if you're a whiskey guy like me. Take all 3 free shots in a cup with ice and use the soda fountain to top it off with soda. Tip the bartender too. This lady was very friendly and helpful! We ate at the steak place down the road then (RARE Steakhouse). That was just a couple miles away and we returned to the hotel. Very secure parking, and in/out access was great during the night. Again, very quiet room all night long. We met back downstairs in the morning for free breakfast that had just a ton of different hot food, coffee, juice, etc. Food included a waffle maker, scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage patties, toast, and a bunch of other things like bagels, cereal, etc. The lady that brought out the food (Asian-American lady) was very energetic and busy bringing out more food, cleaning, and interacting with the guests. Again, what a gem of an employee! I wish there were more hotels like this one. I will be looking for this chain when I travel in the future. Thank you so much for such a wonderful...
Read moreDrury is a beautiful hotel right off the interstate. The lobby is gorgeous, the elevators are quick, and our room was clean. We had a two room suite on the 7th floor. The living room area was very spacious and had a comfortable pull out couch plus 2 other chairs, a desk, a dresser, a large bench and a large TV. In the center, there was a bathroom which was fully stocked, and the small kitchen area. The microwave and mini fridge were both located in the cabinets while the ice bucket and coffee maker were on top of the counter. Even with those appliances, there was still a lot of counter and cabinet space. I was disappointed with the size of the mini fridge, it barely held just a few water bottles. The edge of the kitchen area was a room with a door where there were two queen beds, another large bench, a very large closet with giant mirrored door, tall dresser, TV, nightstand, and lamps. This bedroom was quite roomy and not at all cramped. The window overlooked some trees, you could see the old Genkota Winery and the Harley shop. Breakfast in the morning was quite the spread, tons of options! The staff did great on keeping food stocked. There was plenty of seating for everyone even with the hotel being totally booked. Drury also has a kickback service in the evenings but I did not use it. The pool is so awesome, it's an indoor/outdoor pool. The kids loved swimming under the barrier and popping up outside. The outside sitting area by the pool is well kept and gated. It felt very safe, even after dark it was well lit. In the pool room there was also a hot tub. There was a bathroom right in the pool room. There was an abundance of towels available to use. There are a few restaurants within a couple hundred feet of the hotel, Panera Bread, McAllister's, and Steak n Shake. These could easily be walked too. If you're craving something else, there's a ton of other options in town you could drive to or even order on DoorDash or Uber Eats. Checking in and out of the hotel was a breeze. We booked our room online directly on the Drury webpage. 100% would recommend and will absolutely come...
Read moreAlmost 5 stars. Here is why. Pros and cons below: Pros: I have stayed at a lot of hotels, but I was the most impressed by this Drury and the staff. Not only is it affordable, but it is extremely clean. It looks brand new and modern. I watched someone scrubbing the trim of the elevator to clean it. That says a lot.
You get complimentary cocktails every night and complimentary food every morning and night. That is a huge bargain. A majority of the staff I saw were super friendly and accommodating and pleasant.
Now for the 1 con keeping it from a 5 star review: I was asked if I wanted room maintenence daily and I said yes. I was only there 2 nights. The next day I walked out of my room and the cleaning gals were there and watched me walk out. I came back later that afternoon and nothing had been done to my room at all. I called front desk and asked them and they said the girl marked my room as having a do not disturb sign on the door, which was incorrect. The door next to me had the sign. They just forgot my room to refresh. A maintenance manager came up and was unpleasant. He asked what I wanted done and I simply said "just the standard day to day refresh", to which he wanted specific detail like he didn't know what to do. So I just mentioned sheets and towels refreshed and I left for 20 minutes to leave him at it. If he hadn't have had an attitude about doing it, which should've been done in the first place, I wouldn't have docked this review a star. Everything else about my stay was fabulous.
It just goes to show that all it takes is one little thing to change a review when it comes to places like this.
However, I highly...
