I have never in my life had such a disgusting hotel experience until today at Sheraton Nashville by the airport. First let me say that we are owners for the last 10+ years at Harborside Atlantis and loyal SPG fans staying at Sheraton hotels throughout the U.S. with normally positive experiences. But today I checked into Room #1 in Nashville to find there was a bathroom wall covered in mold from the ceiling to the bottom of the picture hanging on the bathroom wall and then above the bed there was peeling paint from water damage and paint chips all over the bedding. Not only is that a health hazard to any individual but especially to my child I had with me that has both asthma and allergy issues. This has to have been a concern for quite some time with how much mold coverage there was on the wall! After calling the front desk, the very sweet and apologetic young lady came to our room to see the issue and brought with her keys for another room. She proceeds to take my son and I to Room #2 and upgraded us to a suite as there were no other doubles left as I had booked and needed with my son with me. Room #2 had a pullout couch which had a bare mattress covered in urine underneath the stained upholstered cushions of the couch. We then proceed to the king bed in the room which had brown stains which looked like poop streaks on the sheets! Then further issues with the bathroom floor sticky in urine dried into the floor with long black hairs dried in surrounding the toilet area. Needless to say I checked back out after taking pictures of both room concerns. I am horrified that a company I personally have invested in financially through timeshare ownership finds such horrendous sanitation conditions to be acceptable. Not only is this unacceptable but is unsanitary and unsafe. The poor lady at the front desk had amazing customer service skills given the situation and did everything she could to help but under the circumstances I did not feel it was in best interest of our health to try yet another room when finding such serious hazards. She even attempted to call the manager on his cell phone at my request with no success. How can something like this be found in such a high quality chain? How can I feel safe staying at any location in the future with my family? I hope my funds and points were credited back as the desk clerk assured after these issues tonight. Beyond unacceptable, as a manager myself, I cannot believe the hotel manager does not do frequent rounds inspecting what they expect of rooms. I assure you that your hotel manager would not lay their child down for the night in a hotel room with mold growing down more than 50% of the bathroom wall, nor would they lay their child down in a hotel room with huge urine stains on the mattress nor sleep in a bed themselves with brown poop streaks, let alone walk on a floor sticky with urine to use the bathroom! Read moreClose to the airport and easy to drive to. The staff was excellent from booking to checkout. The cleaning staff worked around our schedule including our late checkout and did a good job. Front desk staff was responsive to all requests and handled them promptly and professionally. Very pleased with all the staff we met.
The room was good, but needed some attention. Little things like the closet door needing something to stop the loud squeak, making the door lock easier to lock and unlock, with the biggest being the missing blind so the lights from the building and parking lot couldn't be blocked.
The breakfast was an additional cost and we did not take advantage of it so can't comment on the quality of the food, but heard from others that it was okay. Appreciated having the coffee and tea available both in the lobby and room. It was nice to have a refrigerator in the room and had a microwave available on the first floor. It looks like they have a small restaurant and bar, but not in operation as it seems they haven't opened again since the pandemic, just for the breakfast buffet.
There was adequate parking and multiple entrances, but one card reader was being repaired. The grounds were in okay condition and spring landscaping appeared to have just been started so the flowers were a nice touch. There did seem to be garbage blowing in from the wooded area around the property, but that seemed to be the case around all the businesses in the area.
Good location with easy access to the interstate and other major roads. Plenty of options for food in the area, some within walking distance and more just a short drive away. Retail options within a short drive.
The price seemed to be reasonable based on other locations we have stayed at. Didn't research other area properties as this was the hotel with the block of rooms. Price was about the same for the block and booking a room using various discounts. Web site was easy to negotiate and had detailed information on the hotel costs, amenities and options. The pool is outside, so seasonal and not available during our stay.
Overall a very good stay with a little attention needed to the room and exterior, which was made acceptable by the excellent attention provided by the staff. I would stay at this...
Read moreRosalee at the desk is a dream. It was so busy with such a lack of room cleaners that the manager was preparing a room. I know it's difficult to find employees right now. So, I can't go lower that a four...
I'm adding some suggestions, photos, videos, suggestions and comments. Room 228 is definitely adequate for a stay.
HVAC: was on 69 and cool, cold for others, upon entry. Two lights and TV were also on. Not sure if that's SOP or not. Someone also left a floor cleaner wipe, re: the shortage of personnel maybe.
Floor: there's either a seam or an uneven section in the concrete under the carpet. It could lead to a fall, particularly for someone with an unsteady gate. See an attempted photo.
Lighting: no photo, but sufficiently dark with both curtains rolled down. Would be good to have a switch, maybe 3-way, to allow the room to be lit from the entrance, currently only lights the entryway then you need to walk to the desk or middle of wall to access more lighting.
Door: bathroom door badly needed some WD-40 until we took a shower and it was loosened up. It made a horrible creak during the night when used.
Bedding: do like the zippered mattress pad, hoping that keeps out the bugs better or maybe just the bug hunters. Pillow cases were both standard and bag-type. The pillow I'm bag type are kept cleaner and some dirt was obvious on pillows with standard cases, photos.
Bathroom: overall it appeared clean enough. Toilet seat is loose, huge pet peeve. Shower curtain and rod is biggest issue for me. It was supposed to be hanging out and away but was hanging down instead of out. The hooks were probably some of the weakest I've seen in a hotel, photos for all.
Suggestions: fridge wasn't plugged in, had some standing water in it and the doors make you open both wide, photos. Start the shower temp at 3:00 o'clock, photo. Make sure the inner curtain is fully hanging in the tub, not hanging on the edge, or beware the floor, photo. Need an improved inner curtain.
Much if this could be caught with room inspections by maintenance, non-cleaning personnel or even cleaning personnel with a...
