We stayed two nights in June, 2018. We reserved one room, but when we arrived, we were told someone had changed the reservation to two rooms. We were in route when the change was supposed to have been made, so this was a pure fabrication. Our adult daughter and her husband wanted their own room, so it worked out, but it was not what we had reserved. It cost us extra for the second room. The facility is dated. The check in process was odd. You have to call before you come to check in. The phone number was not working and it took us a while to final connect. Pros: The staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and ready. The gifts in the lobby are the best price for the same items in town. Cons: The mysterious change in our reservation. The breakfast, that is complementary in other hotels was $9 a piece here. Forget about using the WIFI, it is a total disaster and almost impossible to use. The connection is slow, when you are finally able to connect. Be prepared for a very firm mattress. Recommendation: The staff is honest, but the management is highly questionable. I am unable to recommend this business. There is a indoor pool, but the water looks murky and I would not get into it. Stay somewhere else, even if you have to drive a bit. There was even a "For Sale," sign in front of the building. ...
Read moreFor the price and the proximity to the Nauvoo historical sites, this place was very good. The room was clean, but did smell somewhat musty. The staff have all been friendly and helpful, even going out of the way to bring dish soap to my room (which is not one of the rooms that has a kitchen) so I could wash my baby's bottles. There is a restaurant, which is a catered buffet. The food is okay, and the price is a little high. The breakfast buffet for two was $19. Unfortunately there is also a large youth group in the hotel right now, and unfortunately they're yelling to each other across the hall around 11 at night, and if they happen to be in the food hall it's extremely loud. But I can't really blame the hotel for that one, I just might suggest asking if there are any large youth groups booked during my stay, and maybe ask for a room far away from them. I would give the hotel a 3.5, because there is no breakfast included, and the room smelled somewhat musty. Also a lot of the channels they list don't work, which isn't a huge deal, but worth noting. All in all, I would probably...
Read moreWe stopped by a friend's hotel room on a trip we did together, but I did not stay here and can't comment on service.
The entry had a long/ narrow kitchen area with sink, small stove, small fridge... crowded but quite adequate for a family trip.
From there, we went into a small living room. They had 2 comfy chairs then a table with benches pushed up against the wall for sake of space.
I didn't see much of the bedroom area, but there was a divider between the parents bed and a teens bed.
The hotel is definitely older... there was a slight smell of mold. But it was clean and no signs of bugs, etc.
They booked the suite for $130/ night. We had an airbnb out in Carthage for $150/ night. We had lots more space to be sure, but also more driving. Looking back, I might have opted for their cramped quarters so we wouldn't have to drive so much! This hotel was so much closer to all the Nauvoo...
