Waterwheel Condominium Resort — Hotel in New Braunfels

I rented so my family members with 3 boys could attend my husbands funeral. It is close to my house, just across the  river.

The  rent originally appeared reasonable at ~$225 per night, although payable immediately & nonrefundable.

As the  stay was over a 3 day weekend,  I was only slightly surprised to see a higher charge of over $700 total at the end.

The  family had no complaints about the facilities.

The credit card went through, I received confirmation quickly. (Nonrefundable, non-negotiable.)

Then I started getting emails about policies, a breakdown of fees, and notice of Escapes & Water Wheel policies.

The increased charges were due to fees that greater than the base charge for one night.

Rent Charges Total $455.58

Damage Protection Fees $45.00 (not deposite!)

Service Charge $25.00

Departure Clean $103.01

Taxes $81.71

Total Booking Charges $710

There were threats of an additional fee of $50 if we didn't  take all our trash to the dumpster.

Guests aren't allowed to  take towels to the pool or river.

In spite of 2 loud ongoing musical events in the  neighborhood,  guests aren't asked to honor the "quiet hours." They are threatened: the police will remove them if they make noise after 10 PM.

The company emails insisted I fill & sign an interactive Adobe  Renters Agreement within 48 hours. It took 3 tries before a functional copy appeared in my email.

The  type was tiny, the program didn't allow printing it out at home.

In addition, if i didn’t want to go to their remote offices, I would  have been  required to email copies of my drivers license for photo ID and the  credit card they had already charged.

I eventually went to  the office the day before the funeral.

Finally,  every member of the family would be  required to wear a florescent yellow wristband at all times on the property. Not great funeral attire. The only  excuse was theres: Escapes doesn’t manage the  whole  property.

First of all I’d like to say that this place is a second home for me and I love coming up here at least once a month. I’m an owner of E203 and my husband and I absolutely adore our condo here. However, I’m sad to say there is something very corrupt with our security/towing company. I have an owners sticker on the INSIDE of my vehicle for the 2024 year and it was illegally removed last night and it is nowhere to be found in the car (if it “fell” off). For the past six months we have come to our condo using the same vehicle with our owners sticker on our windshield and have had ZERO issues. Last night someone from our PAID security team or our PAID towing company, illegally entered our vehicle, scrapped off our owners tag on our windshield and then towed our vehicle! Of course we had to pay to get our vehicle back. I’d also like to say that the previous night we (four people) personally watched a security guard hold a flashlight to our vehicle to check for our inside owners sticker. IT WAS THERE. Our vehicle was there the next morning. Last night our sticker was removed and our vehicle was towed. Moral of the story, please take pictures of your vehicle and your owners/renters stickers or tags because whether you have it or not they will remove your vehicle from the premise and not...

My coworkers and I was booked at the Waterwheel Resort Accommodations on 10/23/21 and 2 1/2 hours after retiring for the night, I woke up screaming hysterically because I could not stop tossing and turning, itiching and scratching. I jumped out of their bed and turned on the lights, there was the reasons behind my itching and scratching!!! BED BUGS. Bugs in the bed and pillows!! bites were all over my body!

I’ve never ever experienced anything like this itching!!! I would have to be sedated if I ever get chicken pox or the hives, poison ivy, because those bites hurt and itch so horribly. On top of that, I still had to work in Texas heat in black!! Omg, I thought I was over reacting when my scalp was itching. No I was not, the BED BUGS were on my face too, I have bites there too. So yeah, they crawled in my scalp!!
