Spud Ranch — Restaurant in New Braunfels

Oh my god it’s so darn good YOU HAVE TO TRY IT!!!!! We’re here for two days & we’ve eaten here both days it’s that good!!!!

The first night 2/3 of us got potatoes. One got a burger. She loved said burger. She regretted not getting a potato. These potato’s are the softest ones you’ll ever encounter. Amazing. So soft. So flavorful. So amazing.

We’ve tried - chicken enchilada baked potato - 7/10 we wish the onions were sliced instead of large rings & more sauce would be awesome. The flavor is!!!!!amazing!!!! Spot on

Brisket baked potato - 5/10 a little too wet and toooooo much flavor. Makes me think something isn’t quite as authentic as we’d like.

Mac & Cheese Potato - 8/10 i really enjoyed this one. Very flavorful. I love the Mac they have. Def need more butter maybe some ranch.

Frito Pie Baked Potato - 10/10 SUPERB my god. The chili they have with the combo of the sour cream & cheese on the soft potato’s are absolutely phenomenal. Amazing. Oh my god. GET IT.

Fried pickles - 7.5/10 once it’s got ranch. No ranch? Like a 4 because it’s weird. It seems to have a funnel cake coating. It’s sweet. Very weird without the ranch. Once it has the ranch?? Amazing. Super tangy and super yummy. I’d say 9.5/10, but the consensus is 7.5/10 lol

Mozzarella sticks - 2.2/10 Suck! Hate them. They tasted as though they were under a heat lamp. Didn’t have any cheese pull. Very cold. Sad.

Generally our favorite baked potato in town, however, be cautioned if you order for delivery through Spud Ranch's branded app: they use an external vendor for the actual delivery and will pass any "delivery issues" to that external vendor. The Spud Ranch branded app also does not mention this, only that the app itself is "powered by" the external vendor.

Tonight we received our delivery with the Spud Ranch receipt for our order taped to the outside of the bag. The Spud Ranch receipt correctly portrayed our order. However, when I opened the bag all of the food was wrong; we received someone else's order. When I called Spud Ranch to see what they could do, they were unable to assist us because they noted that once they handed off to the delivery driver it was out of their hands. The issue which I explained to the manager: Spud Ranch put the wrong receipt on the bag. The delivery driver was only following the directions they were given by the restaurant. Spud Ranch had the external vendor call us because they were unable to do anything about their mistake, blaming the delivery service. The external vendor refunded us but we ended up getting dinner from a different place because of this transaction with Spud Ranch. This entire exchange will make me reconsider Spud Ranch delivery. Last night I finally made it out to the Screamin Chameleon Food Truck spot that houses quite a few options for food. I have seen and known about Spud Ranch for years and I hadn’t had the chance to try it. I’ve heard great things and it was finally time to get a Spud. They have quite a few options but what really caught my eye was the Gumbo Spud. I love Gumbo and it sounded very good and unique as I’ve never seen that combo before. I also ordered some fried mushrooms as well. Wow! The flavor of the Gumbo was slap yo momma good and the juice inside the spud created such a creamy and delicious bite. I loved it. I think it needs to be a permanent option! My friend and I had the pleasure of meeting the operator of the food truck who was incredibly friendly and gave us some funnel cake fries to try which were fantastic as well. I definitely dig the funnel fry option over a typical funnel cake as the texture and crunch are more superb in my opinion. I am glad I finally tried it and it definitely won’t be the last time! Now I want to give all the locations some love since they aren’t to far from me. I definitely will be recommending this place to anyone who enjoys a good baked potato with some pretty cool...
