Restrooms are always clean. Poor naysayer guy wanted a plush bathroom like in Vegas. Never ever had a bad experience since i've been going for over 60 years! Participate and show off your wares like I do. cuts entry fees everyday for me. I park across the street on the corner of Grant and Common. Elderly couple are very nice and always secure your vehicle, large or small. only ten dollars during the day and evenings are $15. That neighborhood also has parking at our Library. You can also park on the Fairgrounds. Best food and drinks are...well all of them! Plenty of tea, sodas and libations. The rides are always clean and safe. Our Police force and Deputy Sheriffs are always visible. My cut flower exhibit won Grand champion last yea! My walnut cranberry pie was awesome, but i got lazy and used a store type pie crust! My eggs won first place as did my okra. Grandma's fancy cutlery won first place as it is pristine and new in the box it came from! She never used it, didn't want to replace her sharp knife that was homemade from days of yore. Tractors are awesome to see especially if you have driven one on the farm when growing up. I did. As for friends and family i see it is always a great surprise. Almost like a family reunion. Last year there was an Army issued .45 caliber handgun like the ones i maintain for the Army in 1973. The Soldier that it belong to is still alive today. His uniforms and others were on display. Please read the placard that describes them. Most people just look from afar and miss the History of the United States coming from New Braunfels. Texas. The Beauty Spot of Texas! gosh darn it! This year I will have a drawing of a Chief with headdress. Can't miss it. I will display it at the Dias de; Los Muertos downtown Nov, 2nd. The Dance slab is always great filled with toddlers at first then look out! The Grand March is my favorite and it brings happy memories from days long gone. New happiest of times await. Starting tonight, Tuesday. fresh coffee awaits me and hope to see old friends and new ones. Especially the ones I taught at Comal ISD 2005-10. Go Coogs! Go Unicorns too as i was a Unicorn before entering the Army. God bless and drive slow on Common Street. Accidents can be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was an absolutely awful experience. Iām in a wheelchair and my kids pushed me all the way up to the ticket line. We had an hour away to get my little grandson weigh him so he could do the mutton busting. We managed to get a very good seat underneath the big 10 building out of the sun, but then this happened people did not watch or take care of their children 10 to 12 boys from the ages of about 5 to 12 ran up and down the bleachers in the front of us kick the fence in the front of us with their boots stomped around and then follow each other. They were rude and disrespectful. When we ask him to please sit down the parents were nowhere to be seen. Then they made an announcement on the loudspeaker that they wanted to stands cleared. We ask why we had to get up and leave and turn around and come back in and it had something to do. She said with tickets, I was unable to get my wheelchair out of there so we refused to move so did several other couples after a while. The people that had to leave were allowed to come back in and sit down thatās when I wanted to watch my grandson do the mutton busting but again the kids about 10 to 12 of them started running and screaming and yelling and fighting each other ran into my wheelchair. We had to move the baby out of the way in her stroller because they were fixing to hurt her. it was a horrible experience and my family will never go again we ask who is in charge and the man was rude and said my wife, we tried to explain to him, but he didnāt care to hear it. Very sad for the Comal county fair this will be my little grandsonās last year to do mutton busting, and it was such a bad experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read more11AM Lots of pickle vendors and a few 1000 people! The wind was crazy!!!! 35 mph gusts blowing tents around! Needs more bathrooms and better parking. This was when the fair opened. 1pm Later on it would get worse. The crowds of people in lines was crazy. Sadly I wasn't allowed to use the fairgrounds bathrooms because they were closed off to the public. A women from the fairgrounds told me no. So I had to leave the venue and go find food and a restaurant. This event was more than the fairgrounds could handle. 13 bathrooms/ portopotties for all those people who showed up. It's crazy that people parked 2 miles away to walk here. Things were not organized and after 1pm. It all became so hectic. We tried leaving our truck and ubering out to keep our parking spot. Uber canceled on us 3 times and I had to cancel with them 2 times because it was taking so long getting through the crowds of people in the street. The internet took a dump for the vendors because the towers were overwhelmed. If I owned a house in that area. I would be livid, people were parking in people's yards and blocking their exits. There was no street control. There was no one checking bags. People couldn't sample anything for how long the lines were. The porter potties were so full of urine and feces and no toilet paper. NO WATER OR SOAP TOO SANITIZE EITHER!!! It started out ok and then went too hell in a...
