This hotel has a lot of character. We stayed in two different rooms (beginning and end of road trip) each room is full of its own quirks. The rooms are authenticity New Orleans with exposed brick, old fire places, skinny spiral stair cases, old wood floors, original doors and windows, four post beds. There are also things like exposed pipes run across the ceiling. Don’t expect the Hilton here, but the quaint atmosphere here is a nice relief from the busy city. The first room was a two story room with a bed on each floor. It had an air conditioner in the room, which behaved oddly but was able to keep up. The bathroom had been redone and was nice, though the water pressure in the shower is low. The furniture could be arranged a little better to better suit the space and make more room. Some furniture just needs to be replaced or removed entirely. The second room was smaller room with a single bed. The bathroom was also redone but not the rest of the room. This room had central air, so we couldn’t adjust it. This made it uncomfortably warm for us given the record breaking heat happening. Both rooms could use new pillows, they were very flat and hard. They could also use new bed quilts/comforters as they were honestly disgusting. We pulled them off. The sheets seemed fine. The room clean overall though. The front desk help is friendly but the woman in the afternoon isn’t on top of things. She initially gave us the wrong room, and someone else was in it when we went in. And on the second trip she told us the wrong way to get to the room. The location of the hotel is interesting, the address has them fronting Prytania street, but to check in you have to turn on Terpsichore street. They do have their own free parking lot which is very nice. They are very close to the street car stop. They offer a very basic breakfast as well. Even with the character quirks I would...
Read moreFirst time in NOLA, and we'd definitely stay here again! Pros -friendly staff -free parking on site in a well-lit parking lot -close to great restaurants, Walgreens, and a trolly stop to take you to the French Quarter -comfortable bed -decent breakfast options -individual ac units in each room -fridge and microwave in room Cons -landscaper's tools going at 9am (not pleasant to be woken up to that, you can hear everything outside of the door) -breakfast ends at nine am (I think it's weird as NOLA is a notorious party city... if you're out partying late, don't count on the hotel breakfast, just bring your own) -there was mold on the shower curtain, but I wipes mine down and opened it up every time I took a shower to let the water dry off. NOLA is in a swampy area, so you do have to actively think about how you're combating mold and mildew anywhere here. -the wardrobe in our room had a funky gym sock smell, so I wasn't able to hang my clothes.
Overall a pleasant experience, and I would come and stay here again. Just make sure you bring some breakfast items if you're gonna party all night in the Quarter and miss breakfast. And make sure to air out the shower curtain- you're in a swamp, so be proactive about fighting mold and mildew. This place is in a well-lit area and a more residential party of the Garden District. There are homeless people a few blocks down, they really don't bother you when you're out and about (not aggressive at all-coming from a...
Read moreDON'T be fooled by the photos and description. The location was good but for the price of $160 a night it was outrageous! There are no 'Marble fancy countertops' in all the rooms. Ours was smaller than the pic makes it look and the air conditioner was not NEARLY as strong as it should be for a room with a loft. Was way too warm for a good nights sleep. The shower had no good pressure and you barely got wet. The 'bridge' going from one building to the other was a piece of old plywood attached down over the old one. The 'Courtyard Breakfast' was in the small 'Courtyard' corridor like place outside with cereal in tupperware and frozen waffles and english muffins you run through an old toaster machine. The milk was out in the warm weather in a bowl of ice, same with the orange juice. We were excited about the history of the place when we got there and wanted to know more and we asked the guy behind the counter to tell us about the place and all he could say was 'I dont know, really' . I am not the kind to write bad reviews or say bad things towards others but this place was a COMPLETE let down and WAY too expensive for what we got. I WILL NOT recommend this place and will NOT be ever going back. Oh, and the $50 deposit you are supposed to get will be back to you in 7 - 14 DAYS!!!!!...
