I have sworn by these pralines for years. My first experience with them was in Baker, LA back in 2016 and I have refused to eat any other praline since! Although I'm from NOLA, I've never lived in Louisiana so I'm always visiting because my mom has been there my whole life. To say the least, Bernard's is always a priority for me when I'm there no matter where I have to go to get them. The recipe has always been consistent and they never were selfish on the pecan halves they used until the past couple of years. I started to notice less pecan halves in my candy and mort recently, the candy I ordered is full of pecan pieces/chips. Not a pecan half in sight. Very disappointing to say the least because I pay good money to order them online now and have them shipped where I live. I would give these Creamy, buttery, mouth-watering candies 5 stars with less pecan halves than I can give them with chips/pieces. I pay premium prices for this candy but cutting back on ingredients and maintaining premium prices is foul on so many levels. Don't change quality just to make a profit. Consistency is key.
3 stars because of the chips/pieces, 5 stars for the candy, 4 stars for customer service because you all made things right with an inaccurate order in the past but interaction with the representative handling the order was less...
Read moreThese are the BEST and ORIGINAL New Orleans pralines!! Forget about those marketed "airport pralines" or those French Quater "Tourist Trap - don't know any better" pralines that are ladened with preservatives so they can last for months on end into a new year ('Aunt', who???). My sister bought me 4 containers of their Praline Square Christmas '24 and I instantly knew they were the real thing; I was supposed to take the back to New York but they never made it 😀 So, on my drive to Dallas this time I decided to make a much needed praline stop to stock up. From the moment I walked I was welcomed by staff and, unbeknownst to me, the owner herself was at the counter. Miss Donna could not have been nicer or more gracious; she explained the difference between the clusters and the squares as I had never seen the clusters growing (only the squares and flat pralines - which were probably flattened out to make them look larger so that residents would buy them for $1 when sellers would ride around the neighborhoods on bikes with baskets offering fresh pralines). Needless to say I bought 5 tubs, 1 Praline Brownie [DELICIOUS!!] and 1 Praline Cupcake (yet to eat). I will definitely reroute myself through NOLA in the future for more Bernard's Pralines. 😋😋😋😋😋 Also, it was nice to reminisce with Miss Donna how New...
Read moreAs a New Orleanian, I have never tried Bernards from the source itself. I’ve always gotten pralines from another vendor like a grocery. Immediately, we were greeted as we walked in. Service was quick, friendly, and efficient. There are also a few local New Orleans snacks there. I was happy to find pralines without pecans. I got some without and also some originals with pecans. As I was paying, I noticed that there was a praline cake, this is one of my favorites so I had to have a slice. I must say that the pecan candy was fresh and warm. The ones without the pecans were not as creamy as the texture and taste that most people describe Bernards as being famous for missed me. The cake was not it. It was moist and soft, but the topping was hard and fell apart as I was using a fork. I would give them another try, but today I was...
