This is an old mansion with a spacious exterior yard and a large interior event room for community activities. The house staff person was friendly and helpful and the breakfast meals she prepared were good. The house interior is dark and poorly lit with dark stained wood panels and doors throughout. The room that my wife and I stayed was painted a dark color with an old and dingy marble fireplace. The wood decorative flooring in the room and throughout the house revealed broken boards. Doors in the bedroom had numerous coats of white paint caked on top each other creating an unpleasant visual appearance. The room door did not fit the frame opening revealing a 1/2 inch gap at the top where light from the hall could be seen. The overall appearance of the room is that of a dark, poorly maintained, poorly designed space in need of repair. Instead of being a well preserved mansion the general interior of the house is in need of major renovation. The biggest issue my wife and I have with the property is the lack of personal security. Contrary to the brochure narrative statement, house guest are not allowed to lock their room doors when they leave the house! A closest key is provided to lock away valuables, however, the room door must remain unlocked. This places the guest in the unreasonable position of having their personal belongings exposed to other house guest and anyone who comes in the house. Furthermore, the room door has only a cheap sliding lock to provide safety to the guest when in the room. This flimsy lock would not prevent someone from forcing the door open when the guest is sleep or in the room. While the interior quality of the physical structure is a contradiction of the stated brochure narrative, it is the security issue that would prevent us from coming back to the...

What a wonderful place I can’t fault it....so if your pondering about staying there then listen...BOOK IT you won’t be disappointed. We went back to NY last year for my 60th taking our two sons six and eight so it was impossible to stay in Akwaaba but we took them to see it in a Yellow cab and as we looked the lovely memories flooded back. It felt complete taking my two boys to see that special place on that special trip. Thank you for your warm welcome Monique and Glenn. We are thinking about going back to NYC in a couple of years hopefully. I will call in and say hello and bring Glenn some English newspapers which I remember he asked me for. Take care and stay...
Read moreFirst, I wanted to express my sincere gratitude to Ms. Randy for making my stay at the Akwaaba Mansion so memorable.||I truly appreciate the attention to detail and the thoughtfulness you showed throughout my stay. From staying on the phone with me as I accessed the house on Monday, to the delicious glass of wine, to the delightful birthday breakfast with the candle, and even arranging the masseuse—everything was perfect.||I often struggle with insomnia and have difficulty staying asleep, but I must say the bed and pillows at Akwaaba Mansion were the fluffiest and most comfortable I’ve ever experienced. I had the most restful night’s sleep.||Additionally, I want to commend the venue for fostering such a warm, communal atmosphere. During breakfast, I had the pleasure of engaging with two delightful couples—one from Kenya and the other from Oregon. The conversation was enriching and fulfilling, and I left the table feeling elated and grateful for choosing Akwaaba Mansion in Brooklyn.||This wasn’t my first experience with Akwaaba properties. I’ve also stayed at their Poconos location on Noble Lane, and I highly recommend making a reservation. You won’t be...
