Travel wise this hotel is in a sub-par location down the street from a shelter as well as another shelter not too far away in the opposite direction. Being that there are 2 shelters nearby and factories, you will see homeless people and riff-raff around the immediate area.
Transportation? Only the L train and B12 bus is close by and you would have to go out of your way to go to this hotel by passing other hotels like La Quinta which is far superior which are similar in price, easier to get to, cleaner and better staff.
Me and my girlfriend decided to go here for 6 hours. Our reservation was from 4pm to 10pm. I made the reservation in advance so I didn't have to worry about it 2 weeks prior. We went to a different Days Inn before and a few La Quinta hotels and it was always 1,2,3 sign in, no long wait, friendly or expectedly nice staff be it overnight or by the hour.
So here's the Hotel issues: 1-The 2 guys behind the desk couldn't find my reservation at first 2-They didn't communicate like saying "just give a sec" or apologize for the wait time. They just seemed lost and kept asking "when did I make it" and one of them staring awkward at me or my girlfriend. 3-It took them 12 mins just to find my reservation and I had to hand them my cell phone to show them the confirmation code which I've never had to do at any other hotel. 4-They gave us a room on the bottom C floor and that room was literally an arm's length away and the doors were facing each other. If 1 person came out of my room, and another out of the room across from us, we'd bump into each other, it's THAT close. 5-When checkout time was 5 mins away, hotel staff knocked on the door, I told the staff ok just give us a second and 2 mins later management called the room, keep in mind someone knocked and the 5 mins were not up yet. 6-They allowed us to check in earlier at 3:45 and leave at 9:45 pm instead of 4pm-10pm, however when the man behind the desk first was signing the papers he said "I will let you check in early but you would have to check out at 9:30 in which I said that's not 6 hours and they took 12 mins just to find the reservation, so he changed it to check out at 9:45pm.
Pros: 1-Seemed Clean 2-The Walk in Shower is ok but small 3-The room isn't bad looking just oddly set up in the C rooms.
Cons: -Incompetent staff -Not friendly staff -They rush you out of the room before time is even up fully which I've never experienced even at another Days Inn -Some of the room placement is way too close to other rooms -Located in a dirty looking environment -Have to pass up other hotels that are far better and easier to travel to -Looking at other reviews, they claim to have found roaches and bedbugs which is not surprising based on the area it's located.
*I would say avoid this particular Day's inn. For the price of $144-$180 overnight, you can go to another Day's Inn or La Quinta and we've never had any issue with La Quinta or even toss $250 at YOTEL in Manhattan if you've got it which is EXCELLENT everything. If you go by the hour, $85 for 6 hours can be found at a few locations or $90-$100 instead of $85 which is only a $5-$15 for much better service...
Read moreI’m sending this picture and more to follow of my check in to one of your hotels. After calling to make a reservation in New York where everything was booking because of the storm I was given only have of my reservation number and told the wrong hotel. I called a super 8 number and was booked at an days inn. This wouldn’t have been an issue but I never received the email that said the address and the correct email. 76.34 later I was at the wrong location with no email, and the wrong reservation number. Called back the number I called to make the reservation and it was the number of the location I was at (weird) but couldn’t find anything with my reservation number or name. Luckily the only good part was the man at the desk was very helpful. He was calling other super 8 locations while I was calling the 800 number. The lady in the 800 number couldn’t find anything, but it was probably because she wasn’t listening. I have been traveling for 48 hours and been getting bumped off over sold flight after over sold flight and I was just looking for a place to stay. I paid more than I’ve ever paid for a super 8 or days inn just so I could get a hot shower. When I finally showed up to the right place after about an hour of calling people the guy was pretty rude checking me in, and I’m so tired I don’t really care, I just wish the last room that cost me over 100 bucks wasn’t the worst room in the place. I’m just upset that I love 2 hours of sleep just to find the place and still have yet to get the emails... this is after the second time I had to call and figure out the true location of my booking. This is my first complaint ever about a hotel chain, and I...
Read moreThis property should be avoided at all costs! The hotel was misrepresented to us, because it is not safe to stay at. The neighborhood is dangerous for guests. Upon arrival we saw a Drug deal going down in the street in front of the hotel, and a homeless shelter in a neighboring property.
The lobby is constructed to enclose the staff behind a wall of bullet proof glass, and the arriving guests must speak through a speaker grill, and pass money through a slot. The listing promises on site parking. This is not accurate, as the parking area behind the hotel only has add spaces for 6 cars, none of which were available.
On street parking is out of the question, even if it was available, due to safety. We were acosted by 3 pan handlers asking for money, and were under surveillance by intimidating suspects while sitting in our locked car. My wife was afraid to leave the vehicle.
Certain areas of Brooklyn are safe and desirable, but this in not true of Crown Heights, as evidenced by the stabbing there the day before...
