I resided at win for a a little under a year. I made conversation here & there with some of the other people residing there & some said they were there for 5 years. When I got there. No one told me who my assigned worker was. So my intake wasn’t done until a month after I got there. I wasn’t working so I was mainly at the residence so you’d think my case worker would come & find me. I was a DV case. 7 months after being in the shelter, I found out I had a cityfheps voucher & I didn’t find out until I contacted the mayors office, the commissioner & the obudsman office & filed SEVERAL complaints. When the housing worker found out I had a voucher. Her response was “how you’re not even working” that was very unprofessional. I spoke to another housing worker & I told her my goal was to get out of the shelter in under a year. She laughed at me & stayed “some people have been here for 5 years, you’re not getting out in under a year”. I filed another complaint with the city & cited what she told me. Whenever the case workers didn’t do assessments or the program director didn’t do their job. I filed a complaint. I ended up getting housing connect. After the many complaints, my program director didn’t like me and made that personally known. What I didn’t know was that case workers were getting fired due to my complaints. Oh well. Do your job. So the Program director who goes by the name of Jasmilka Gonzalez, kicked me out of the shelter right when I was starting my moving process because we shared a few words. She said “you’re getting people fired & you’re messing with People’s livelihoods” I responded “then do your job & I won’t have to keep filing reports” keep in mind it was roughly 9am. She was supposed to be in her office. Instead she was outside gossiping with a maintenance worker, smoking a cigarette. She was late already & wasn’t even in office. Later that night I get a letter stating that I got kicked out cuz “i threatened her” I kept a recording of all of our transactions. So me threatening her never happened. She just abused her power. It was by far my WORST experience in a shelter. Be mindful of being here & don’t make friends. I got out in under a year. What the program director didn’t know was that kicking me out actually helped me. I moved into my apartment a month after that. I was supposed to move in, September 1st & it was expedited & I moved in a month earlier. For those losing out on hope, don’t. Look up the mayors office contact form & make all the complaints needed against lackluster case workers. They are there to help you, instead...
Read moreI have a lot of complaints about this shelter. For one, staff always have a negative attitude. From security, to maintenance and even the program director. Then they wonder why you have an attitude when needed. Since moving here, security has no customer service skills, they never know anything. Maintenance supervisor felt like she could talk to my kid and tell her what to do then got surprised that I told her that I do not allow people to talk to my kid. The program director always has a bad attitude, any time you ask her a question, she gives no eye contact, doesn't talk to you, she talks at her desk and replies with "nope" any time you have a question or inquiry. She's really a waste of time to talk to, because of her my first apt offer did not fall through. I'm officially moving out and have bought furniture to be able to take it with me to my new place. I was told by the supervisor Alonzo that he can not let me have my furniture according to policy. When I asked to see the policy, it states "no extra furniture in the unit". The furniture is not for the unit, it is for my new place, and I was told that they have to hold it in storage until I leave. This place is disgusting, they want to oppress you until you leave. Every time I have an issue I've had to contact the office of Ombudsman for no wifi, heat on in the room until June and consistent floods in my unit from the rain and living on the last floor. This place is...
Read moreFirst of all I would like to give this place Zero stars. I was in the shelter with my mother and it was absolutely a horror story. We was originally supposed to be in room 428 but because of paint and leaks and dirty water falling into our bathroom in the tub over the toilet and near the sink which was causing mold to grow they moved us to 211. With no type of help not to mention this place is incredibly infested with mice the workers are also going into vacant rooms for smoke breaks there are only two staff there who gets the job done I do not know her name but there is a lady with colorful dreads and another lady with pretty orange hair who get the job done other then that the garbage room used to be so filled up to the point where you cannot open the door dirty laundry rooms the stink smell from the garbage room starts getting a terrible smell not to mention some other workers have terrible attitudes as if they hate they job so perhaps a lot of them shouldn’t be working there anymore.not to mention the fires they have the fires are so insane sometimes when I was there it was fire scares at least every month. This place needs to be shut down or investigated or under...
