Atlantic House Men’s Shelter — Local services in New York

The gathering place is located in the basement ; the 5 floors above are for MICA (mentally unstable) men only ;during my stay in the basement, the staff were mostly very helpful with the exception of the 2 female supervisors, Miss Jackie & the 2nd one, whose name escapes me at this moment ; To say that they are rude & disrespectful is a tremendous understatement ; having to be there was stressful in & of itself ; these 2 women made it SO much worse with the way they verbally abused EVERY SINGLE client, male & female ; they are supposed to be trained professionals, but they conducted themselves as if they truly had HATRED towards the men & women who were clients at this facility. The caseworkers were extremely friendly & really did try to help every client with referrals to H.R.A appointments, including making sure you had metro cards to travel ; another downside , which was totally unstoppable by the friendly security staff , was whenever we would step outside to smoke a cigarette, urine & other projectiles would be tossed out the many windows above us onto the folks who were smoking ; but when we looked up , all we saw were all open windows, therefore not knowing what exact window or floor it came from, thus nothing could be done.Overall, the Gathering Place located in the basement, once indoors, it was a very safe and clean drop in center. If your ready, willing & able to put in the footwork, one can achieve many productive things leading to landing on your feet once...

the worst place to come to...ive been attacked here assaulted yelled at and some and the staff there does absolutly nothing.ive seen men get assaulted day in and day out and staff nor security does absolutlely nothing.no cops called no report no nothing but business as usual.i will no longer continue to tale this abuse i will start to defend myself with violance if i ,must because you people cant protect anyone...ive been in this shelter system since 2020...5 years waiting on housing and ive seen illegals get housing faster than US citizens ...whats going on there is criminal and illegal but in nyc its biz as usuall..any complaints and their will be retailation..i dont care enough is enough..THE REASON THERE ARE ABOUT 100,000 PEOPLE HOMELESS IS BECAUSE OF THE DEPT OF HOPELESSNESS...ELIMINATE THIS DEPT AND WATCH THOSE NUMBERS GO DOWN...

Horrible, miserable and dangerous shelter run by female manager who behaves like a Queen and employees who keep quiting every other week to include the lazy case managers who don't help anyone. I have spent a year and half and they have done nothjng for me. 4 case managers so far, three had quit on their 3rd or 4th week seeing Mr and then everyrhjng starts from zero. Terrible place with employees who don't care about homeless people.

No hot water No Microwave No TV No Electric Outlets No Fridge No Kitchen

They offer absolutely nothing while the CEO of CAMBA as a non-profit organizarion makes more than 650k salary and senior-vice predicen makes salaries beyong 300k, and all coming from the pockets of HRA and the homeless who are mistreated and abandonnéd. Thid place is worst than Rikers...
