The Green Place — Restaurant in New York

It was a disgraceful experience. I took a co-worker who had never had Nigerian food to this restaurant based on my Google search of restaurants in the area. As soon as I walked in, I observed the atmosphere to be dingy. That should have been my hint to walk right out. Nevertheless, we stayed because my colleague was eager to try Nigerian food. It took almost 15 minutes for the attendant to take our order and when my guest who doesn't understand Nigerian food was trying to decide what to order, she appeared very impatient. She did apologize in advance that it would take a while since she has to fulfill a large take away order so we knew we would wait a while before the food arrived. When the food finally came, the white rice I ordered was brown and smelt like it was cooked a week ago. It also looked like it had been reheated several times. I immediately called and asked for it to be swapped for jollof rice. Needless to say, there was nothing memorable about the jollof rice. I used the stew that was supposed to be used with my white rice to eat the jollof rice. Again, this wasn't fresh at all. I cut into the cow leg only to hit a cold spot because it was not properly microwaved. I can't believe I paid $16 for a meal and service that was totally unsatisfactory. I had to apologize to my colleague because I may have totally destroyed her appetite for Nigerian food. It is rather unfortunate that this business does not appear to show respect for its customers based on the service and quality of food it served yesterday. I’ve been coming here for a while and the food’s always great. I went in today and ordered for vegetable soup , usually it’ll take some time but then they just immediately gave me the order , I thought that was strange but then I felt maybe someone ordered and didn’t come to pick up so I took it. I got home and opened the meal and saw the vegetable was in the stew, it wasn’t vegetable soup , was more like spinach and stew , I saw some rice and then a piece of pasta in the soup, I didn’t even touch it and called the restaurant , she was soooo rude and said if I don’t like it that I should come take my money , of course I went back . The attitude she gave me when I got there was beyond disgusting . I’m glad that happened though because I found another great place afterwards. Definitely never going back . They need to learn...

Due to this pandemic, I have been ordering a lot online a lot. So while I can't speak to the environment or decor, I cab speak to the quality of the food and the service that I got here.

Let me tell you, if you have not had correct "Mama Put" back in Nigeria, you wouldn't understand the flavor and finger licking from here. The spicy levels is not for beginners. Everything that I ordered from zobo to Isi-ewu was on point.

Most impressive of all was that they immediately rectified their mistake when I contacted them. They kept to their word and on my next order, I was hooked up with extras as compensation. I will always recommend places with...
