I went to three different mattress stores today looking for a new mattress. I started at Mattress Firm and went to two other stores, but circled back because the gentleman who had helped me, Rex, did such a great job, and did not push the most expensive mattress on me just because he could. Both of the other stores I went to were the complete opposite and they did not take the time to actually listen to what I wanted. I am a little bit out of the norm, and I like a firm, memory foam mattress. Both of the other stores kept trying to push other mattresses on me that: I could either change the firmness and make more soft (I don’t like that), or they just showed me the most expensive mattress in the store to begin with. Usually $4,000+ mattresses. I knew exactly what I wanted, but I needed to stay under a certain price point. Rex gave me several options but ultimately we decided on something that was in between the least expensive and the most expensive. I was actually wavering between the original Purple or the Purple Hybrid and asked Rex his opinion between the two ($1000 difference). He said, because you like a more firm mattress you will probably like the lesser expensive one better. Most people would like the hybrid, but it is more expensive however that’s not what you have said you like. He actually listened to me. I cannot say that enough times! He listened to what I prefer and that was ultimately the less expensive of the two mattresses. I asked for an out the door price which included the mattress, mattress, cover, delivery fee, tax and taking away my old mattress… He wrote everything out for me. It will be delivering in two days, and I am very happy with the service I received thus far ! Read morePushy sales people try and force a fast decision. DON'T LET THEM STOP YOU FROM SHOPPING AROUND. If they're willing to drop a price, chances are they know there's a better deal out there and they want to capture your business.
So called "regional manager" happened to be at the store when we were there, tried to push the sale with a discount of $400. I told him straight that we were shopping around and he had nothing but negative and rude things to say about other stores. His lack of respect for other businesses and his customers should be addressed by Mattress Firm, it's not good business to prey upon customers and be pushy and rude to deter us from shopping at other stores. If this representative was better, I would've purchased the product.
I fact checked him and he lied to us 3 times in less than 30 seconds: Mattress Firm are NOT the only store that give you a 120 night sleep trial. Mattress Firm are NOT the only store that can get the beds we were looking at (Serta iComfort Hybrid). Mattress Firm do NOT have the best prices for what we were buying, and most certainly do NOT have the best financing options available.
Shop around, do your research, push back against pushy sales associates that just want to sell quick to make a quick buck. We got a better quality, better tech mattress for the same price with added extras and more pleasant sales experience at Kittles.
Sales associate had the audacity to ask if we were "review people" ... Who doesn't read reviews these days!?...
Read moreI originally planned to purchase my new mattress and box spring from this store. When I visited the store near my home, the pushy salesperson would not leave me alone. Due to his pestering and incessant questioning, I left and purchased the mattress I wanted online and scheduled delivery for two days later. This is when the real trouble began. The original delivery window was 8am - 6pm on Saturday (ridiculous). On Friday, I received a call and email reducing that window to between 4pm and 6pm on Saturday. On Saturday evening, I waited and waited and waited and waited. No call. No email. At 7pm, I called Customer Service and waited on hold for AN HOUR. I never was able to actually talk with anyone. My mattress was FINALLY delivered after 8:30pm with a mumbled "Oh I guess we're a little late" excuse. This is beyond unacceptable. Life happens, and I understand that.
