I can’t say enough good things about our stay! My photographer friend came up from Texas to take Christmas card pictures of my friend and I + our fur babes (calm down. Yes. They are MUCH easier than human children and are in no way equatable. But also a lot cheaper. And in this economy?!)
Being that we don’t see each other very often we made a weekend out of the ordeal and in between running around to parks/downtown/other Kodak moment venues (all conveniently located very close to the hotel!) we had a great room to chill at.
Being that it’s November, Deer Creek is closed for the season but this would be a fantastic hotel to stay at for concerts - it’s only like a 5 or so minute drive away. I actually live about an hour north of Indy and was pleased to learn this…likely will be booking with them for a concert end of July this coming year. There are also a bunch of really convenient food/snack options not only in the Wyndham itself but within walking distance.
Honestly though, the shining star of this stay was my man Andrew. I don’t think I’ve ever written a review but wanted to make sure I did to specifically thank him. [EDIT: turns out I have in fact written a review. Point still stands] Forreal 10 gold stars for Andrew. Deserves all the raises. A hero sans cape as it were. But shoot. Give that man a cape in addition to the raises.
Since I made the resv. I was filling out the pre check in stuff and I had called earlier in the day (day of check in) prior to his 15:00-23:00 shift (? Guessing…the shift before night audit) and I was told I’d have to come in and sort out some stuff since I wasn’t going to be the one staying in the room. Totally fine albeit annoying I understand why…catching fraud is a good thing. Plus I work in Fishers so it wouldn’t be crazy inconvenient. Long story short my work day was stupid and then it was raining and so if I went after work my normal hour commute home would turn into more like 2 hours with the stop at the hotel. I’ll admit it -for sure could have and would have if thems the rules but I reeeeaaaaaally wasn’t tryna get home at almost nine. I called before I headed there just to ask if there was ANYTHING else I could do. He was all “oh don’t even trip dawg. Do insert things I had to do here we don’t need you here ^.^” (paraphrasing. He was very profesh). When I tell you I almost cried… (❍ᴥ❍) Just to add, I don’t think he bent any rules for me - honestly I think I just wasn’t super clear with what I was asking the first time I called. Then he was super cool when my friend got there and my bank forgot about me telling them I would be making a hotel reservation so don’t shut off my card. AND THEN when my friend’s service dog returned to the hotel bloody and broken (he was bleeding a lot but was, is, and will remain to be fine) having survived a VISCOUS attack (bite to ear) by some wild beast (my friend’s idiot hounddogg) in the great wilderness of W. Georgia and S. Illinois (downtown Indy) - Andrew YET AGAIN saved the day by helping her contain the mess and help her up to her room with him. He didn’t have to do that. I’m sure in his job description it didn’t make mention of assisting in bodily fluid clean up - canine or otherwise. He just did it cuz he’s nice. And that kinda thing is real cool to see especially in an industry that has to deal with a whole bunch of things that aren’t their fault from a whole bunch of real angry people. It also never gets mentioned because people suck. So I just want to let you know Andrew (if you’re reading this) we see you homie. Thanks for being a real one from one service industry grunt to another.
I know this has been silly. But in all sincerity this place is great. It’s no Ritz but this is Indiana. So you know. Grow up. It’s nice and really affordable. Easy drive from a bunch of stuff you might be in Indy for but without the traffic or price tag. :)

Read moreI booked this room because of the hot tub but when I arrived they told me it was closed permanently. I will say the beds are comfortable. The rooms are a little bit dated. The television is old school smaller TVs they really need to donate those and put in better TVs. The internet what's pretty bad. I had a hard time uploading my work to the company.
Okay this is an update. I stayed at this hotel again a couple weeks ago and now I'm staying again. The beds are comfortable. They still have not updated the TVs. I feel like I'm watching a TV that should be in the child's room. The front desk staff is really nice. The people that work the bar area are pretty rude. There's a woman who works the bar who's pretty obnoxious. Also all the cereals they serve in the morning are all like children cereals. Fruity Pebbles Frosted Flakes and cinnamon toast crunch. Not my choice. I've asked him the last time I stayed here if they would at least have like Raisin Bran or Honey Nut Cheerios. I came back again and it's still the same all sugar cereals. I really wish they would have something I can eat. By the way they said they have those sugar cereals because they have kids staying here that are on travel teams. Although I've stayed here for one week at a time and I have not seen too many kids. So if the hotel reads this I've asked several times to put out Raisin Bran. I don't think that's too much to ask you can still keep your fear to Pebbles and Frosted Flakes. Another big letdown is the internet service at this hotel. I stayed on the third floor the last time it had problems getting my work done. This time I stayed on the first floor near the front desk. It was good the first day but the other days have been problems after problems. I think next time I'm going to have to stay at the Holiday Inn across the street. It's disappointing because I do like this hotel but they do need to upgrade their TVs, fix the internet and get some adult friendly cereals
So this is my final update for this hotel. I have to check out early and go to a different Hotel because the internet's not working again. I'm going to the Holiday Inn across the street so once again the internet stopped working all last night and most of today. I would give him five stars across the board if they did the following . One, They need to improve their internet. Two, buy some damn regular sized TVs for the rooms instead of these small old TVs. Those are the two main things. I would have given five stars if that would have been taken care of lastly buy some damn Raisin Bran for the buffet! You don't need to have all kids sugary cereals when you have three different cereals to...
Read moreOk I am giving a 2 because it was not my worst hotel experience but I was very displeased with my stay and here's why. It started with being made to sign a statement I wouldn't make noise after 10 pm (but I guess it's ok to smell the pot the cleaning lady was smoking in the room next to me early the next morning) then learning that although their website states they offer complimentary shuttle to local attractions within 5 miles, they do not take guests to the music venue one mile away. The excuse they gave me was they don't go to highly trafficked attractions. My bad for not calling to check but they need to revise the false advertising on their website. So I guess if you want to go to a popular attraction, ignore that they post those on their website as a draw to get you to stay here because what popular attraction isn't highly trafficked?? But for $5 per person plus tip, Uber Mike will take you to the music venue down the street (or be like us and walk it in 15 minutes). Also I reserved a suite room for 4 ---they gave us 2 towels and a bag of sheets for the pull out. That thin blanket is not going to keep anyone warm in October. The desk drawer was put in upside down, there is one very tiny trash can in the bathroom and the shower gel is basically Lemon Pledge (waxy, sudsless and smells just like it.) This could all be ok for a night's stay if the price was $59 per night---but at over $200 it's just not ok and not what you get for a similar price elsewhere. The Wndham hotel group is one of the largest in the world with over 9,000 properties. This place needs to do better whether its locally managed or not. One final note, extend the free breakfast hours for travelers on vacation. By 9:15 it was being packed up. All I got to sample was the coffee, which unfortunately was very weak. The only amenity we enjoyed was the bluetooth mirror, despite its bizzareness. All in all, I won't...
