We arrived on July 29th 2017, the first impression was that the place smelled badly. The guys at the front desk were less than friendly. It was immediately apparent that the place was in disrepair as the closer on the front door did not work properly. The room smelled funky, it was obvious that the molding around the room door on the inside had been replaced, sheet rock screws were used to secure it, the wood was not finished. The toilet was stained under the rim and was in need of cleaning. An attempt at painting had been made, it was a very poor job as there was paint on grab bar trim rings and other surfaces, the cut in part of the paint job was non-existent. In the common areas utility room doors were left open exposing things like the pool pump and heater to the public, fluorescent light fixtures had lamps out and some were flickering. There was a old dirty refrigerator next to the pop & ice machine that was use to keep some of their breakfast items in - dirty, dirty! The pool area was dimly lit and a health hazard, all the rungs on the 3-rung pool ladder were so loose that they could not be safely used, the ceramic tile around the top edge of the pool and whirlpool were in desperate need of cleaning, the pool water was somewhat cloudy and smelled bad the chemicals in the pool were not at proper levels. The timer on the whirlpool/hot tub did not work and the cover to the drain on the bottom was not secure, it could be pushed to the side exposing the open drain/suction pipe which is a major safety hazard, a couple of the chairs around the pool were cracked with sharp edges exposed. Again the smell of that pool and whirlpool are something that will stay with you for a couple of days. The so called continental breakfast was just as bad, after seeing earlier where their supplies were kept I had already decide it was not fit to eat there and that was confirmed when I saw the plugged dripped tray on their juice machine it was backed up with what appeared to be orange juice, it was filthy. I would never recommend this particular Days Inn to anyone and would hope that the corporate office would take some interest in the way their franchisees run the business. I would also hope that the local health inspector would pay them a visit, for safety reasons the pool should...
Read moreI am writing this review of the Days Inn in North Platte from a hotel in Ogallala 45 minutes West. The reason I am writing this review from a hotel 45 minutes to the West is because of how disgusting that hotel was. The first thing I noticed when I walked in the door was a cockroach scurrying away, I stomped on it. The second thing that I noticed was I must have been interrupting something very important, because he was thoroughly disgusted that I interrupted his day. It always feels nice as a customer to get that feeling from somebody that you are supporting at their place of employment with your hard-earned dollar. I should have just turned around and left apparently I wasn't smart enough. I had called earlier and asked for a no-smoking room. The man at the counter wrote me up for a no-smoking room and I carried my bags around to the back went upstairs open the door and I was hit with an ashtray smell in the face. Disappointing to say the least. He told me it was a no-smoking room and that it did not smell. I'm not a smoker, I am hypersensitive to smoke and mold smell.( and it really sucks ) there was an odor of mold in the room also, needless to say I went downstairs and ask him to switch rooms with one that didn't smell. He was visibly upset, so he changed out the key slapped it on the table and turned around and went back into his cave. I went and draged my bags from the one room to the other one. I brought them in set them on the bed and try to turn the light on. The lights did not work. I went down there and rang the bell and he came out cursing in his native Hindi language. Visibly upset and slamming the doors to his cave and his workspace. I asked him if he would go check the lights and he yelled at me and threw a pen onto the counter that bounced up and hit me. He refused to go up and look at the lights that did not work. I told him to cancel my room and give me a receipt showing no credit card charge. He was literally trying to threaten me physically. If you want to be treated that way as a customer stay there. You would be better off sleeping in your car behind the gas station next door. I stand behind this review 100%. My name is Brian Elling from...
Read moreI wanted to have a positive about experience as well as a review. Not going to happen~ The efforts to update the hotel are incomplete. Newer carpeting pretty much covers the updates. The furniture is old, odorous, and stained, v-e-r-y stained. The first towel I grabbed (to use to sit on one of the chairs), was, you guessed it, stained and potentially had not been laundered?! A second towel, in a more worn condition, appeared laundered, but also stains present. The bedding appears clean, and fresh, except the coverlet has a stain on it. No evidence of bedbugs at this point.
The room had a smell of mildew & chocolate, opened the window to refresh the air. But the fact it is raining outside likely means no real change will happen, or perhaps will increase the dank smell. The paint on the walls in our room, shows no repaint, just badly matched touch ups. Lots of them.
The tiny microwave is clean, the refrigerator is not. But it is cold!
Small parking lot. Located right on the main street, you hear all of the traffic as you stand at the front desk. I requested a room on the back side of the hotel, and we were put on the ground floor, in the end room at the corner or the busy road and a frontage road! Yes, not a quiet option! The man at the desk seemed perturbed by my request.
I will not return to this hotel in this life time. Unless of course they actually renovate it in a true sense of making it a clean, refreshed, up to date, great place to stay! I can't wait to tell you about the pool, hot tub...
