Me and my husband just stayed in the paradise pool suite on the 23rd for one night for our 22nd anniversary. It's a beautiful room, could use more updated touches, massage chair was worn, however in our room we only got provided enough coffee and hot tea for one cup, unless you drank decaf then that packet would make 4 cups lol we do not, only get two packets of creamer and two packets of sugar, we were not informed when we checked in or even made the reservation that if we wanted more than one cup then we would have to get out drive up to the front desk to ask for it. For as much as we pay to stay the check in time of 6pm check out at 11am, then all the extras should of been provided or at least a way to call to ask for them to bring it to us (no phones in room) Also my husband had called a day before our check in date he asked if they had any balloons to go along with the roses he purchased for me to be a surprise when I walked in the room (also rose petals on the bed), she said oh yes she could get either an I Love You or Happy Anniversary balloon for us and it would even be on them, this he was told as he was trying to ask for an earlier check in time even if we had to pay the $85 extra which is what we have in an email from them that you could do, which was so nice however there was no surprise balloon, no early check in either so my husband was basically lied to about that. We checked out at 9:55am, but on our bill receipt it says 11:55. Would like to know how that was wrong because at 11:55 we were out doing last minute shopping far away from the suite we had already checked out of. There was also grass in the pool area before we even entered the pool, as we seen it floating all around the hot tub and pool, not from our feet we washed our feet off in the shower after we took our shoes and socks off before we even entered. I do have a couple of the pics. When my husband went to check us out he was going to say something to the young man working at front desk but he barely acknowledged my husband giving the room card and tip card for the housekeeper because the man was just too busy. So my husband wasn't gonna wait & wait around for him to finally notice he wanted to talk to him about all the issues, including the issue of the membership. I was billed for twice once when reserved room then after we got the confirmation email they sent another email asking to join their membership for $30, my husband thought we already paid (we did) but he wasn't for sure so he paid it again. I called about this but the man was too busy as I had said to talk to about this issue before we left. There is several rust spots inside of the pool and hot tub areas, walls of hot tub were also dirty. Also the two shower heads in the steam shower barely has any water pressure, heads needed a good calcium cleaning. When my husband purchased extras like flowers, rose petals on bed, chocolates and glasses he was never offered the chocolate strawberries not one mention of this which after reading some other reviews that are recent I see they were able to get them for their room so don't understand why we weren't offered the same. One more issue, two of the pillows were rock hard and two pillows on the bed were soft.Bed wasnt really that comfy for being memory foam. The very thin white blanket for the bed looked like a shear curtain and the extra comforter they had was very old, thin, color faded and worn, the cotton on the inside was so flat, so it's had a lot of washings and didn't match theme of the room at all, so wasn't really warm at all either. Wish I would have brought my own blankets had I known theirs were so cheap and thin, especially since it's winter! On the comment and tip envelope I did check for manager to contact us, still no reply from them and when I received the email to comment on our stay l left same comments sent the email and no one has ever emailed back. Very unprofessional. I would like to add that our entry door and door knob was very dirty. Not to mention entry door had to of been broken into at one time or...
Read moreAfter 1 night in our suite, I woke up on Friday head to toe in what appeared to be a reaction of some sort. I asked for hypoallergenic bedding, which was not possible to provide (even if I bought the detergent). I had an e-visit on Friday with a physician who confirmed it was a reaction to my surroundings and prescribed me an oral steroid. We received new, unwashed bedding and towels in hopes it would help. We attempted to enjoy or Saturday with me on less than 4 hours of sleep due to the discomfort. Saturday night rolled around and the reaction had worsened so bad that I didn't get more then 30 min of sleep (and even that was in the shower). Sunday morning, I was screaming and crying in the worst pain I have ever felt. My husband sent me to the nearest ER where I was rushed back and given several medications and bloodwork was taken via IV. I was diagnosed with chemical dermatitis covering over 90% of my body. Due to me being in the hospital, my husband asked if we could have a late checkout so he could be by my side at ER. We were refused and no additional options were provided to us. This means, I had to sit in an ER in complete misery without my husband on our "romantic getaway." Yes, the place is beautiful, but there is no amount of beauty that would make this trip even bearable.
Literally, the WORST vacation of my entire life!!!!
And let me add.... I didn't address the little annoyances so let's do that now....
The thermostat couldn't be set to auto. You could turn the heat/air on or off and "set a temp," but it wouldn't maintain so in the middle of the night, you had to get up and turn the heat off when you woke up sweating.
We ordered champagne 🍾 for our room. The website lists certain locations that substitute sparking wine and this is not one of those listed, but we received J. Roget (a $9 bottle of California sparking wine).
When we received our never laundered bedding and towels, we didn't receive new robes. Instead I had to pay $50 for a robe that isn't laundered... but I got to keep it as a keepsake of my incredible experience (yes, it is plush and nice)....
Update Secondary to Bromide chemical dermatitis, I also have hot tub folliculitis (an infection of your skin's hair follicles caused by bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa found d in poorly maintained hot tubs).
Update 3/29 Sybaris finally responded and ended with a threat. Screenshots are available on FB and other...
Read moreHighly recommended. My wife and I are in our mid 30’s. We stayed in the Chalet Pool suite. I’ll be honest, it was expensive, but I’m really glad I picked that one. What an experience all around. You get your own private garage with this suite, which was a nice touch with a near zero temperature outside. We drive an EV, there is a 5-20 plug in the garage, there’s also a J1772 plug onsite, decent speeds for L2 at 9kW. The suite…. Clean clean clean clean. So clean. This was a concern of mine but my expectations were exceeded. Another concern was that you’d get that “pool” smell in the bedroom area, I mean, the pool/hot tub is right there. This was a non concern as the two areas are sealed off from each other, and I think they filter the bedroom area differently with the HVAC. You can’t even smell the pool at all in the bedroom. The pool temperature was 95F degrees. Hot tub was much warmer. There’s a speaker system which has speakers in the bedroom area and the pool area, you can set the AV receiver to put music in one area, or both areas. Really nice touch as we had music up slightly loud in the pool area, but completely off in the bedroom. Oh and you can connect to the AV receiver via Bluetooth - and there was a 3.5mm aux cable if you’re into that sort of thing. There was a decent sized mini fridge with freezer, with a large ziplock full of ice in the freezer. We brought a couple 12 packs of booze. The only negative thing I can think of is that there’s no restaurant and thus no room service on site. They recommend local restaurants, but after you spend so much for the room as it is… it’s hard to justify leaving to go eat. We mitigated this by bringing a crapload of snacks and pastries. Not a complaint, just an observation. In conclusion… I thought this would be a “do it once and never again” kind of thing… after our experience I’ve gotta say, I think we might be back. The Chalet suite may be a bit expensive for a second go again, but the Paradise/Majestic suite may be...
