Manna Korean Restaurant 만나한식당 — Restaurant in Northfield Township

This place is super cute BUT I felt harassed afterwards…

I ordered the bibimbap, it had absolutely no flavor.. I wanted to eat it plain but I couldn’t because it was so bland, i tried putting the spicy sauce to add some flavor but it did nothing… I couldn’t even finish half of it. My friend got the kimchi jjigae and she said it was really good so there’s that. Some of the side dishes also lacked flavor/seasoning, but the kimchi was good.

Now… the price… I ordered the bibimbap which was 13.99 and my friend ordered the kimchi jjigae which was 11.99. The total should’ve been $28 but we were charged $31, so we didn’t leave a tip because we thought that they just included the tip in the total price. We get up and leave, we get in the car, haven’t even turned on the car when the owner runs out with the receipt. We thought that maybe there was something wrong with the payment but she actually ran out and asked for a tip!!! We were shocked and embarrassed.. we gave her a $5 bill and she left.

I wanted to support a family owned business but I was just so shocked at the flavorless food and the tip situation....

I recently visited this Korean restaurant, and everything I tried was absolutely delicious! The pork bone soup (Gamjatang) was rich and flavorful, with tender meat that fell right off the bone. The spicy beef soup (Yukgaejang) had the perfect balance of spice and depth — it was comforting and hearty, especially on a cold day.

But what really stood out to me were the dumplings — they were perfectly made, with a soft, chewy skin and a savory filling that tasted homemade. I also loved the Korean pancake (Pajeon) — crispy on the outside, soft inside, and full of fresh green onions.

Overall, every dish felt authentic and made with care. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Korean food or wants to try something...

We recently visited Manna Korean Restaurant and were blown away by the quality of the food. Their seafood pancake is hands-down the best I've ever had, and the family-style bulgogi was both flavorful and satisfying. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and healthy, and the fried fish was crispy and delicious. The portions are generous, offering great value for the price. On top of the amazing food, the staff were wonderful. I accidentally left my bag behind, and they kindly contacted me and arranged for me to pick it up in downtown Chicago.
