It's called Los Hurraches. Try their hurraches. First time eating their hurraches I liked it but it wasn't to my preference. I then started asking them to fry the base a little more along with searing the meat as well and now I really enjoy them. My mother likes them just as they are no special request. I ask them to make mine "Mas dorado" and they now know that includes the meat. Their red sauce really has a kick and adds to the hurrache.
Always get take out as they seem to prioritize those orders. When inside and its busy there is nowhere really to wait and it can get crowded as it's not the biggest place. You're better off just taking a order to go. Its better to call ahead.
One hurrache will run you about 15 dollars. I thought it too much at first but now I appreciate that they follow my request to make it "mas dorado" and haven't had any problems with my food.
Only place around ive seen with the mosaic jello. Different jello pieces in white jello. Around 4 bucks but it's more of a process. So it's cool...
Read moreAfter 2 failed attempts at other restaurants, my boyfriend and I decided to walk over to Los Huaraches. It was my first time there. The place is small and cozy inside. When we walked in, the cashier told us to sit wherever we wanted, and the server brought some chips and salsa to snack on. My boyfriend got the special #1, which came with 2 tacos, rice, and beans. I got the special #3, which had 1 taco, 1 tostada, rice, and beans. I went with al pastor for my tostada and asada (steak) for the taco. Both were good, but I liked the al pastor more. The food was solid and tasted authentic. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way for it, but if I were in the area craving tacos, I'd go back Price is very reasonable. I just have a taco joint closer to me that's my go-to. But overall, a...
Read moreThis is the best Mexican restaurant in the northern suburbs. You will not get anything remotely close. Authentic as you have real Mexicans working the kitchen, they have all the favorites and some entrees that you will not find on your typical Mexican restaurant menu. But by far the best pick is the tamales. This is why you come here. They steam it in banana leaves and then add their beautiful mole and hot sauces (both red and green). The tacos are solid with the carne asada cooked perfectly. This is a somewhat divey place but its super clean and nice inside. And the price--forget about it. Its so reasonable you could go there everyday...
