I have to say, after reading the reviews, I had expected A LOT more out of this hotel. I travel a lot for work but usually stay in a different chain. Since this hotel was closer to where I would be working, and the reviews were so good, I chose to stay here. My first impression when entering, was that it was decent. Once I got into my room I was disappointed that I was put in a room with Handicap provisions, when I reserved a regular room, mainly because it didn't fit my needs of closet height, bathroom counter space and the dual shower head did not work well. Regardless not a huge deal. The problem really came when I after I took my evening shower to get ready for bed, I went to go back into the bathroom and suddenly the light no longer worked. After waiting a while and trying again to see if it was a glitch, I tried again and it still didn't work. I tried the lights right outside the bathroom and they didn't work either. I called the front desk and the gentleman working that night was audibly annoyed with my call and told me that that someone couldn't come look at it until the next day. When I asked what I was supposed to do in the morning when I needed to get ready with no light, he loudly sighed and rudely asked me to hold on. He did put me in another room, that granted had better counter space in the bathroom and regular amenities, but everything else was shabby, mismatched, dirty and old. Im grateful the beds were clean!! Maybe this room wasn't supposed to be booked and they gave it to me because there was nothing left, I don't know. Nothing was offered to me to make up for my inconvenience of having to switch rooms and get a less ideal room (including a single white curtain on a sagging rod). I was charged the same amount... nothing was done or said to ensure I was happy. I understand this isn't a 5 star hotel, but I have stayed in WAY better and been treated WAY better in hotels that cost me WAY less per night. I'm glad others had better experiences, but I will not be staying at a Holiday Inn Express again unless it is the absolute...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Holiday Inn at 474 West Colonial Drive, Orlando, Florida 32818 on Friday, August 13th.
Upon my arrival I was greeted by a friendly front desk woman.
She gave us our key to room 333 which was a Jacuzzi King Size room.
My wife and I head up to the room and upon entering it we found the room to be dirty. The bed was not made and there were used towels all over the bathroom. With Covid being an issue I was very concerned about walking into this room.
We head downstairs to the front desk and she looked around for another jacuzzi king size bed. I heard her mention that the room is also booked and asked housekeeping to clean room 333 so she can assign us room 433.
A few minutes later we head up to room 433. As soon as we open the door we are hit with a strong smell of marijuana. My assumption is the guest before us smoked in the room and the room was not aired our completely. I was under the impression the hotel room was non-smoking and there was this strong odor in the room.
Since there were no other rooms available to move us to we were stuck in this smelly room.
It was a very uncomfortable stay and with the way the room smelt neither one us really got the rest we needed to.
In the morning we headed down for breakfast at 9am and there was no food. Everything was picked through and there were hotel staff in line getting breakfast ahead of the guests.
When we opened the lid for bacon and eggs everything was empty and the woman working the area was not making anything else.
It seemed liked she was just starting to clean up. This surprised me because we were told breakfast was served until 930am.
We ended up going down the street to IHOP to have breakfast before checking out of the hotel.
I have nothing good to say about breakfast, the cleanliness of the room or 98% of our stay.
The only bright note was the friendly...
Read moreMy husband and I extended our stay at the Disney resort in Orlando by an extra day. Since we’re IHG members, we opted for the Holiday Inn, having had positive experiences with their previous locations. However, this particular Holiday Inn fell short of our expectations.
Upon arrival, we faced difficulties entering the hotel. The entrance was surrounded by a fence in a parking lot, and we had to navigate through a business area to get in. Google Maps had been inaccurate, making the process even more frustrating.
While checking in, we noticed that the customer service agent was assisting a lady who couldn’t find her reservation. The agent’s frustration was evident as he took a call and seemed eager to end the interaction. When it was my turn, he demanded my ID and displayed the same impatience towards me as he had with the previous customer.
He rushed me off the counter, providing me with my room number, Wi-Fi information, and breakfast details while simultaneously instructing me to sign paperwork that I was reading. My snarky response, “I’m reading whatever what you gave me to sign!” only added to the unpleasantness of the situation.
After entering our room, we were met with a state of neglect. The walls were bare, with missing pictures and holes. Rust covered all the metal parts in the bathroom, including the shower rod, shower curtain, and handicap shower handle, which were all dirty and rusted. The room had an unpleasant sewerage smell, and there was poor air circulation. The AC had been off since we arrived, leaving the room stifling.
We turned on the AC and ran it all night to eliminate the stench. Despite this, I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone. To the black, burly man behind the counter, I suggest you seek a new job. It’s clear that you’re unhappy with your...
