We chose this location because we heard about karaoke, and my family loves some good ole karaoke. Added with korean bbq,say less, we're there! We made sure we had 10 people, because that's what was stated in the comments, that with 10 or more people, karaoke is free. That was cool because we roll deep anyway. When we arrived, the hostess told us that karaoke was booked for the night. Which I didn't understand, since the website said no reservations can be made on the weekend. She told us that we were supposed to call if we wanted to do karaoke, even tho i didn't see that before hand. But ok. So when we noticed that they have the forced gratuity of 18% with groups of 6 or more, we're like ok, bet, we're no longer that large of a group. Because at this point, the whole experience we came for was not met. The food was pretty good. The selection was decent, but the dessert was ahhhh. Ice cream looked like it had melted and refroze. Sushi was scarce. We came in around 9:30pm on a Saturday, they close at 1 am, so we definitely expected full looking selections of everything. I will say the server did bring us sushi when we requested so I can't be mad about that. Our server was very nice, but not super attentive. We had to wait entirely too long for refills and I was nearly choking on my spicy soup. Also, we have a member of our group who has a medical card, pretty much letting restaurants know that she has a small stomach, after surgery, so even tho she is an adult, she can only eat like a child. We literally just went to a Korean bbq and hot pot last week for my son's birthday, and they honored the card. This place did not. They said all they could do was 15% off of an adult meal, which only took off about $5 of her price. Ok cool, I guess something is better than nothing, but just in case anyone else may have those expectations with a similar medical condition, they don't really honor it. Our overall experience was good, we just wish we were able to go into the karaoke room. Especially because we saw empty rooms. I don't feel like that was fair. I feel like it should've been more of a first come first serve basis. Like we're here and they're not. The karaoke rooms would've been way more comfortable for our group. More grills, more seating, just way better. We still spent the money. I will definitely come back to get the full experience, WITH Karaoke. Maybe on a weekday, or earlier in the day because their cooler selection looked kinda crazy to me. I had to tell my kids to leave that ice cream alone. I was torn between 3 and 4 stars because it's really not a bad restaurant, it just may have not been the right day...
Read moreMy waiter, the atmosphere, and the overall idea were really nice, but I’m extremely disappointed for a lot of reasons. One being food poisoning and a lot of the food being spoiled. I will unfortunately not be back for this reason.
• I wish i check reviews before going but just like other reviews i see now, i had the same experience of getting severe food poisoning. its been 2 days and I’m still suffering from the nausea, severe stomach pain + constant diarrhea. It was the only thing I ate that day, and 6 hours later I had gotten very sick and kept going to the bathroom. I’m so upset that this happened, because I trusted that they would not serve spoiled or contaminated food for something we paid a lot for.
• we went during lunch time, yet a lot of the sushi and meats were somehow not fresh. I was disappointed because I’ve been to so many Kbbq restaurants in this area (since kbbq is my favorite) and i had the expectations that Gogi would be better or at least similar
• Not a big deal but they didn’t have any korean sides except for kimchi at the sushi bar, which tasted very off too. Took a bite and also spit it out. I thought this was weird, as most places usually have several banchan included.
• the grill hardly heats up and took forever to actually cook. I wouldn’t really say it grilled. but they did eventually cook. When we saw the grill changed we saw that it was just a ceramic hotplate beneath it that doesn't seem to have the best heating contact with the grill plate. It also only heats up to 360 degrees max which is concerning as it definitely doesn’t reach that temperature until it’s been running on for a while with nothing cooking on top. Meaning it’s constant at 300-350° most of the time. my $10 walmart breakfast griddles go up to 425° so why is this bbq grill only maxing at medium-low heat? Other kbbq grills get hottr and some are even gas grills
• lastly, At the end of the meal, I tried their fruits for dessert, and all of the ones that we tried were spoiled. We had to spit it out. I’ve never experienced being served spoiled fruit? I thought, maybe it was just the piece i got, but no it was the whole plate and every fruit. That was the last...
Read moreWell today was a total fail for GoGi Hotpot. I had been waiting to drive over from Oviedo to experience their restaurant. My Brother and I brought our elderly Aunt and Uncle they are in their 80s. We liked the outside appearance. Inside looked great also. We looked at menu. Then walked the buffet. Started with couple plates. When we approached our table waitress asked which did we want Hotpot or BBQ or both? I said my brother and I will have both option and my uncle and aunt will have Hotpot only. They won't eat much maybe a plate full if that. Then waitress tells me... EVERYONE MUST ORDER SAME THING. Umm.. WHAT!?! Are you serious? This is how they treat their customers!?! Then said we could sit at separate tables. What!?! We didn't go pick up our elderly family members to sit separately. Our Uncle was diagnosed with cancer days ago. We wanted to take them to eat together. Enjoy a dinner and converse. Wow. What a disappointment GoGi Hotpot was. Not family friendly. They assume you're theives. That my elderly uncle might eat a piece of BBQ. I guess if GoGi Hotpot thinks their guests are dishonest and are thieves.
I don't know many people going out to eat spending about $165 with good tip that are dishonest people.
What a shameful experience GoGi Hotpot.
We had plates of meat in our hands. When this waitress told us their policy is everyone at table must order same thing. We set the plates on the table. I said we won't sit at separate tables. We will just leave and go to Crazy Buffet across the street.
We did and we enjoyed the Crazy buffet all sitting at the same table. They had a great spread of delicious options. They had shrimp and crab and 40 items I would guess, all cooked and ready to eat. Crazy buffet also has sushi, hibachi and a Pho option... yep make your own Pho! That's unique... never saw that at a buffet.
So if you read this review... don't waste your time and $$$ with GoGi Hotpot they don't respect...
