Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ogallala by IHG — Hotel in Ogallala

This hotel was nice. Staff at front desk was very friendly, very helpful! I wish I could remember her name. I must tell you though, when we were there, there were tornadoes all around us. None right upon us, but all around. Where I live, those are VERY rare! So, I went down to the front desk and told her that and that I was a little concerned with the impending weather. She assured me that we would be fine, that she didn't think anything was coming our way (she was right!) and even told me she was watching a storm chaser on the computer (and even let me watch and listen to him explain how the storms were traveling). She told me where i could watch them on my phone/tablet and again assured me that I would be fine. She even told me that should things change, and the sirens go off, for us to come to the front and we could stay in the their laundry room which would definitely be very safe. That made me feel so much better! Put me at ease. She also recommended a great place to eat! Bed was ok comfortable. About like any other hotel. Just way to firm for us and our backs. I so wish you would put 3" foam toppers on the beds, or at least have them to ask for. Gym was nice and hotel was very very clean. Breakfast was good. Staff there was very nice and friendly also. We were recently traveling across Nebraska during a snowstorm when they closed Interstate 80. Since we didn't know how long it would be closed and were ready to be done driving in that kind of weather, we decided to book a room for the night. We arrived in person at this hotel without a reservation and were able to get rooms for the night. |The staff was spectacular. They were professional and friendly when we were checking in. Later that afternoon, we were hanging out in the lobby and observed staff remaining professional and friendly during nonstop phone calls and several walk-ins seeking rooms (in a now-full hotel). It was quite impressive to see them remain calm, cool, and collected during a trying afternoon. |The hotel itself is great. They had recently laid brand new carpet in several areas in the hotel. Our room was quiet, clean and very comfortable. The lobby areas were well maintained and provided a great place to socialize with other stranded travelers.|That evening, they had a manager's reception with drinks and appetizers, which as fantastic. The breakfast the next morning was delicious with plenty of selections.|So in summary, while we did not intend to stay here, we had a fabulous stay. We definitely would stay here again when...

My family and I stayed here last week (2 adults, 3 young kids, and 2 dogs). Our truck broke down on the highway on our way home from our family road trip to California. We arrived, and the woman at the front desk ( I believe her name is Andrea) did everything she could to get us into our room as fast as possible. It had been a long couple of days, and the last thing we wanted to do was wait in the lobby with 3 restless kids until check-in at 3 pm. She got us in our room within 10-15 minutes and was so incredibly kind! The next day, we were unsure if our truck would be fixed and ready to get back on the road, and the Manager was kind enough to extend our checkout until 1 pm instead of 11 am. We got the call 10 minutes before 1 pm that our truck was good to go. I was convinced we would be staying another night, so I was not ready to go whatsoever. The manager told us not to stress and to leave when we were packed up and ready. When you are in these kinds of situations, especially with young kids, this type of hospitality and kindness means everything. Besides their exceptional customer service and kindness, the hotel is clean and super nice. We will absolutely stay here again on our next road trip, and not because our truck...
