Hello, to start with we visited the DQ at 11 am on Saturday June 11th. With plenty of parking for our truck and enclosed trailer (traveling cross country) it was a blessing to be able to park and go inside to eat. Walked into a clean atmosphere with a good temperature. Light music was playing in the background, you could hear the staff welcome you to the store.
Just putting this out there, NO FLIES as others have reported. This was at opening. A moth came through but was soon captured by the young high school worker who then released it to its natural habitat out the back door.
The temperature was great for our family. They have an area where it's all glass so the sun can come through if you like the rays and heat they produce; however it was not hot by any means. We sat in the main part and it was cozy. A nice cool tempature. We sat at a table that was made for a wheelchair to roll up to; shocking because I do not recall many places having a designated table for accessibility.
We ordered 4 six piece chicken strip baskets we asked for extra gravy. Only took about 10 minutes for our food to be placed upon our table. Two baskets with drinks, which the cups were given at time of order. The only issue was the bread was not really toasted and had a ton of butter, so much so that we took a napkin to wipe it off and it still had enough butter to when you take a bite it tastes like you bit right into the cube of butter itself. Yuck! The gravy was hot yummy 😋, the chicken strip were normal size for fast food anymore, and the dries were not hard and were fresh, double yummy to go with the hot gravy. With all that food we really didn't need the extra carbs from the doused butter not toasted bread.
The front, as most have stated does have a lot of high school workers. Me personally, think that's awesome. It's the beginning of summer and keeping teens busy with good things these days is a task, so for an employer to hire the youth is a great job.
The other item that many have addressed, no manager on duty??? The only one working other than high school students was who the one helping me called her manager, at first, then later called her mom. Not sure but if it's family owned and operated that's great and should be a great value to the community because they are installing work ethics into the youth they employ.
I am not sure how anyone can see someone in the back with or without gloves.... 🤔.... there is only a tiny window where they put food out to the front to hand out. Lots of cars came and went as our family enjoyed our short cook time for fresh hot food we did not see anyone come back with complaints. I did not notice if they had gloves on in the front.
After we ate our meal, I went back up to the counter and ordered a banana split and four brownies. The banana split was made perfectly, my hubby loved it. The browies I purchased for our cross country trip. And they were delicious. They have chocolate chips in them. Yummmmm.

Read moreTwo stars because the food was good. Haven't been to Dairy Queen for years, but had a gift card and it was right by our hotel so thought we'd give it a try. Ordered a #5 deluxe double and 4 chicken strips (no basket) and 2 dressings. Asked if I could have 2 dressings (meaning does it cost more for two, but I wasnt explicit enough I guess)... "Yep." Charged 0.98 for the extra dressing, but was my fault for not looking at the board.
Sat down and looked at the ticket. The 4 chicken strips were $7.16, which was more than the cost of the basket, which showed on the board as $6.99. Went back up and questioned whether the price was right, since it was more than the basket. "Yep." So, asked why it was more than the basket. "Oh, it isn't. The basket is $10 something." Me... "But the board says $6.99." "That's wrong. What the register says is right. The board is wrong." Me... "So, if I ordered the basket thinking it was $6.99, I'd be charged $10 with no explanation?" "Yep. The prices went up."
No manager in site. Only teens. Not a great customer experience. This was at 7:30 at night. MAYBE someone should update the board... Just...
Read moreI deleted the pickles in the app but the details were missed again. I often stop in Ogallala for fuel on my trips west. This was my 3rd visit at this DQ since late April.
On the 1st visit in April, they forgot the bacon in the Bacon Two Cheese Deluxe burger. Apparently, the gal missed the word “bacon”. On the 2nd visit in May, they only put small pieces of bacon, so the 3rd and most recent visit, I just ordered a Double Cheeseburger since it wasn’t worth the difference, but my pickle deletion was missed. The boy at the counter also didn’t give me my drink cup so I had to ask for it. What’s worst is the lack of smiles at this place, a rarity for Nebraska. Moreover, this place is stingy with their onion rings. So, instead of the 3rd time being the charm, it’ll be the last time at this restaurant.
I waited to spend my money on Nebraska when I was already hungry in Colorado. If I want mediocrity, I would have gone to McDonald’s. At least they haven’t put pickles in my...
