Location is very convenient. You are steps away from the beach, and a quick walk from restaurants, entertainment, carnival & mini golf. You can park and never leave all week. Parking lot is small so be careful if you bring a SUV or truck. This was our first time ever at Old Orchard Beach. The water is cold but it's a beautiful beach with shallow waves and clear water. Nice beach to walk on and great for kids. The pool is nice, but it's small and cold. It is not actually heated. They just put the solar cover on it at night. There is not a ton of seating.
My husband and I wanted to love the room, but some things disappointed us. When we first walked in we noticed an odd smell, but just figured because it was an older Motel, it was part of the charm. Haha. We finally figured out that it was a foul, sour smell coming from the fridge, like sour milk. The staff agreed with us that there was a bad smell. The staff tried their best. One staff member was kind enough to try to clean it and gave us extra ice buckets to use for our water to keep cold. We were at the pool at the time of the cleanup, and whole time we noticed they left our door wide open exposing all of our valuables. The cleaning did not help. We went 48 hours with this foul smell that it was starting to waft in the rest of the room and our things. Went back the next day and they said, "oh it's on the list for maintenance, not sure why they didn't take a look." We felt like we had to keep chasing staff to get the problem rectified. We spoke to them about this four times, which I felt bad doing, but I didn't want our stuff or ourselves to stink. They were kind, but no sense of urgency. I feel like if we weren't persistent, then they wouldn't of changed anything. After two days, we requested to have it removed which they did and gave us a vacant room's fridge. Was this a huge deal? No, but it's the little things that go a long way and to have to spend your vacation trying to fix a problem is discouraging.
The shower was nice, nice water pressure. The bed was comfortable. Wish the room was a little cleaner. Besides the whole fridge debacle, the blinds were very dirty and lots of dust throughout the room. The phone was unplugged and did not work. One of the nightstands was missing a handle, and the only chair in the room the cushion was falling apart. When I told the staff about this at checkout they stated, "thank you for telling us, and yes a lot of things are older here."
Maybe we expected more, but for $1,600 (w/tax) for four nights, we thought it would be a little better. If these little things don't bother you, then go forward and stay here.
My husband and I enjoyed our day at Kennebunkport, and if we came back to Maine we will most likely try a place...
Read moreWe stayed here 4 days with 2 kids. We booked short notice so we got a room with 2 beds. Rooms are a little small and fitting our pack and play was difficult. Not a big deal overall. Location is perfect, it’s right on the water and close to the pier. Staff were all friendly and helpful. My biggest issue is the parking. At check in it was downpouring and all of the A spots were gone. I got soaked running back into the office to see where to park. Someone was parked incorrectly but they couldn’t figure out who because of the rain, so they had us park where we could. Fine. But the parking issues continued. All the A spots were gone on another night because an SUV in a C spot was over the line. Staff got him to move, which he barely did. We couldn’t get our 9m olds car seat out and had to unstrap her to get her out and had to back the car up the next day to put her in because of how badly the SUV was still parked. On our last night, our friends were in the wrong spot because of the nonsense parking issues. The hotel called and the woman who was supposed to be in an A spot, where our friends were, was irate and waiting for them to return to move their car. We get back to the hotel and she was yelling while we had our two small babies there. The front desk should have handled this with her and not left a confrontation to us. They told her to park where she could and she refused. The parking issue is because they have groups of lettered spots instead of a numbered spot assigned to each room. It’s a poor design on the hotel’s part and they should’ve had her park in the open spot, as we had to do twice in our short stay. Had the staff handled the confrontation with the crazy woman, it would get at least 4 stars. It was disappointing for sure and they stood by as she yelled over a...
Read moreWe had a nice week here! I think the location is good. You’re close enough to everything but far enough away that you don’t get the loudness from the amusement park or downtown. The only complaint I have is the parking. It’s RIDICULOUS. We are leaving with more dings and dents on our brand new truck than anything because people weren’t paying attention and it’s so tight people hit your car!!! It is a very tight area and unfortunately people do not pull in to their spots all the way leaving their back ends out so we couldn’t fit through to park in the front by the beach which is the only other spots we were allowed to park in. So we had to literally wait for people to leave multiple times which really took time away from our vacation. I wasn’t happy about that. Also the people in the motel next door were parking in our spots on the edgewater side which made it even worse. So I really feel like it was very expensive for what we had to deal with to even park. The beach is very nice sandy and a nice view especially at night! Room was decent comfortable beds, there was 2 old washcloths in our shower from another guest I’m assuming which were all stained with makeup but other than that nice room. Comfortable and quiet can’t really hear other people which is nice! Cleaning ladies were very nice. Office staff very friendly and loved the complimentary coffee every morning. Best part of our trip?? The WONDERFUL people we met that were also staying here. Truly made our vacation especially the kids so special. I’m glad our children got to make friends that they’ll remember having so much fun with and we were so happy to spend time with such nice...
