An excellent stay for the price range. (2/8/15)
I booked a single room for two weeks and haven't slept better. I travel a lot in the area for work, and have stayed in some real dumps here in Ontario. This place has become the exception.
The front and the maid service are top notch, and have made me feel more welcome than some more expensive hotels in the area. The rooms are large and offer plenty of seating and space for belongings. Along with washers/dryers, fridge and microwave, and even an ironing board and iron, you can really make this place a temporary home.
They accommodated me very nicely, I first booked a room late and ended up being in the very back (really nice room) but far out of range for their WiFi. The front desk warned me of this, and in the following day made arrangements to switch rooms. The maids even moved all my belongings and food from my fridge. Everything was accounted for, so trust was established right there.
The big reason I chose this place was for the security of my vehicle. I stayed at the Super 8 on Euclid and despite all their cameras and fenced in location, I still had everything stolen from me in my car. Flash forward to a few weeks later I stayed at the Motel 6 on 4th. I witnessed a double car jacking (yes, that's right) and was visited by cops and CSI regularly. Here I'm glad to say that the police are much more rare to see and haven't had drunks or druggies wandering the parking lot.
Also if you're a smoker you might be happy to know that they have a decent amount of smoking rooms and plenty of ashtrays. No reason to litter your butts all over the place.
So why isn't this place getting a 5 stars? I wish I could but there is one major complaint that needs addressing: WiFi.
The WiFi here is next to non existent because of its short range. Anything beyond the first 10 rooms will likely not be able to reach the internet. A huge deal breaker for me, as I do a lot work on my laptop. I tries bridging a router to get a better range, however you can't use it because of their firewalls. An easy solution for the owner is to invest in some repeaters or additional routers, the cost of those could be covered by a few nights stay in a room.
Providing internet is they way for motels to be competitive, as there are times I wish I was still staying at the Motel 6 with its excellent WiFi. Just happy I don't have to keep watch over my vehicle, so I guess its a trade off.
A smaller complaint is parking is lacking , it fills up quick by 6 PM, so get in early. Nothing I imagine they can do about that though.
The short version: Clean, spacious rooms with an excellent and helpful staff. Safer compared to the other options. Amazing price for what you get. Terrible WiFi.
I'll probably stay here again if I'm ever in Ontario, just next time try to get a room closer to the office.
Edit (2/8/15): So it looks like they took major strides in providing a new WiFi solution with a new web portal. It works amazingly and the range has been far boosted! Now this is a...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I had to find a hotel to stay at for a decent price. It was conveniently located down the street from his work. We stayed for a week. For a budget hotel, this place is pretty nice (compared to others in the area, which we've stayed at). I'm not sure about previous reviews but the room seemed to have been renovated within the past 6 months or so. Bathroom, sink area and rest of the room were clean and look nice. The king sized bed was comfortable and had 4 pillows (we had our own pillows with us as well). The blanket on the bed had that "crunchy hotel blanket" kind of look but was by no means intolerable or uncomfortable. Mini fridge and microwave were a nice bonus and both worked fine. The AC/Heater worked as they should with no problems. They don't allow pets, but they made an exception for our tiny chihuahua because we had a crate to keep him in. The staff was friendly, nice and very accomodating (spoke with a few different hosts on different occasions). The hotel itself is located literally next to the 60 freeway. There is a McDonald and Denny's on both sides of the hotel if you want to get something to eat as well as a gas station. There are more food shops as well as another gas station across the street. The complimentary breakfast is not the best (some muffins, cereal and coffee), but what more do you expect from a budget hotel. There are some shady looking people around the area (which budget hotel doesn't haven them lol), but the Ontario Police Department is located directly across the street so you can feel safe. The hotel also has cameras that cover all ends of the hotel (The guy at the counter gladly showed me as I was a bit concerned for my car that had recently been broken into [not at the hotel]). Is this the "best" budget hotel you'd ever stay in in the area, yes (stayed in a few others in the area that cost more and were worse, Hotel Seville [another great budget hotel!] being the exception). but it is definitely not a bad place to sleep at temporarily considering it's a 2-star hotel. If you want to stay at a nicer or "best" place, pick one of the many 4 or 5 star hotels in the area (which charge about 2-3 times more per night. I would definitely...
Read moreI Stayed here over the weekend on August 4th and 5th. I brought some of my electronics that stayed in the room at all times. When we were leaving on Monday morning I placed some of my items on top of the bed while I checked under the bed and noticed that there was just wood all around and there couldn't be anything under there. We locked the room and returned both keys. I live in San Diego so when I was unpacking I noticed I was missing my son's Nintendo Switch. That's when I remembered that it stayed on top of the bed in between the blankets when I was looking under the bed before leaving. We immediately called to ask if they had found anything and they said that they weren't done with the rooms so they didn't know yet until the day after, it was around 6pm (I felt like they didn't even bother to check). On Tuesday I called again and spoke to Dee, she was great to me, she took my number down and left a note for her manager that arrived until next morning. Today Wednesday, I spoke to Jeff, he was very courteous and attentive, he asked me for the description of the item, I told him it was Nintendo Switch inside a case along with 7 physical games and like 13 downloaded ones, I have spend over a thousand on this thing, Jeff told me that he was going to speak to the housekeeping supervisor to see if they had found anything and that he was going to check the cameras from the parking lot just in case there was any clue of it. Later on he called me back to tell me they didn't find anything. Why did I have to wait 3 days for them to have an answer? It is clear in my head and I have no doubt it stayed there, it never left the room and from the hotel to my home there was no other stops. Only two people clean each room, someone came up on it and didn't turn it in. It's sad that I payed for a service and got robbed. Lesson learned though. Advice if you decide to stay here, make sure you have everything on you before leaving, housekeeping...
